You can leave anytime you want without warning or reason but you can not get unemployment compensation. I’ve been at a place for about 8 months. The person training me left after my three months. I was never fully trained. Then, I was doing the position on my own for about 1 1/2 months (two person job). Then, a new person gets hired (who has many more years of experience compared to me). My boss immediately likes that person better than me and has been throwing more work to that person and taking work away from me. Mind you, that person has decades of experience and I only have a few years, so of course, they will be better than me. Now, my boss is basically telling me I’m doing everything wrong, even though I’m doing it the way the other person was training me, so I THOUGHT I was doing everything right. I’m definitely starting to believe the environment is toxic. It’s a job that I want to work out for me, but I’m having doubts. I’m not really sure what to do. I know the person who quit had told me that they had to fight to get a second person doing the position. I’m thinking they never wanted a second person. Now, since they hired the new person with many more years of experience, I believe they are going to get rid of me and make that person do all the work. However, that is also wrong because there is no way one person can do the job. It’s way too much of a workload for any person no matter how good you are.

Whenever I made any mistake she would send me emails in capital letters to berate me. She even used to make personal remarks. I resigned from a company after less than six months due to a multitude of reasons but the most significant reasons were zero safety protocols, after two months without a desk I was literally shoved into the aisleway of a fire exit (with chair blocking exit door), head of facility hired a different boss to literally follow me everywhere (even into the bathroom). The last straw was new "boss" watching me write emails and telling me what to delete and write instead. Head would dodge any attempt for me to discuss and address issues so a couple days later I came in, wrote brief email resignation at head honcho's desk (he was on vacation all week), left badge and laptop at his desk, started a business, and never looked back. I remember at my previous job, everybody was miserable and overworked. There was one older lady that didn't quit because she had this philosophy that went along the lines of "When the going gets tough, you don't quit, you stick it out." So she stayed just because she didn't want to be seen as a quitter, even though she was most likely super stressed and worked to the bone. I don't believe that way of thinking - sometimes you have to know when to bail, because there is no winning. Your best move is to remove yourself from the environment that is stifling and holding you back, no matter what anyone thinks of you. Put yourself first.

I just recently left my job after 3 years. The job was an absolute mess. Since day one it was nothing but trouble. I kept butting heads with management over various issues concerning my role & got nowhere. Management (IMO) was very biased, elitist & toxic. The job was easy, but the work load was unrealistic and very demanding. I once had a miscommunication over a job swap & got screamed at! WTF! My supervisor at the time was described (in their words) a tyrant. Corporate knew he was a problem but waited too long to fire him. The damage was already done. Since I was there the company went trough not 1, not 2 but 3 "HR" managers. I am so glad I finally escaped the mess of "entry level" manufacturing.

I have reached out to my previous supervisor and let them know I would return but no opportunity to do so so far. This is why I’m starting a business. I’m making so much more money working for myself than at my toxic job dealing with toxic coworkers and bosses while getting underpaid. Shit proves that workplaces are a damn joke these days.

I would like to add a couple reasons that you did not include in your video. These all happened to me, and I did not get out when I saw these signs. Looking back, these were monumental mistakes. Thankfully I DID get out of these companies before it was too late. In some cases, I am convinced these three situations could have cost me my life. First is physical violence (or even threats of violence). I had a boss who repeatedly told me “I’ll break every bone in your body if you don’t…” or “I’ll cave your skull in if you do not do … right now”. In my case it was only a threat of violence, but had he made good in this threat it could have gone badly. Second, the boss demands you do something incredibly dangerous or illegal. In this case, there was a dangerous ice storm all the roads were covered ice. Travel was treacherous at best. My boss demanded I drive 40 miles INTO the storm to verify the power was out in the area, completely unnecessary. Third, If the boss is gaslighting you and you think you are losing your grip on reality. I had a boss who would gaslight me and I had this premonition that people were out to get me. I did not figure it out until a coworker, and I were out to lunch, and he confirmed the gaslight. So, the moral to this story is to follow your instincts and if you see the above situations… GET OUT ASAP!!! It could save your life. No job is worth dying or being put on “happy pills”.

I would never go to HR. They seem to be protective of the culprit managers and the company as a whole. I've never seen HR have the regualr employee 's best interest in mind but rather trying to find a way to keep the company out of hot water legally. For me, I would go to EEOC or get an attorney. I would never show my hand by talking to HR. But yes, I would recommend getting out of there, even if you have to pinch pennies for a while. I have done that and found that I was actually more focused in my job search and it accerlerated my career by working in a different environment.

This sounds like any call center companies out there. Agents kept on getting exposed to toxicity, both from their bosses and customers.

This is so true. I had a toxic boss who constantly belittled me, told me I talk too loud, told me I would never get an ‘exceeds’ on my performance review, gave me anxiety, and made me cry ( in private, never in front of them). I even had nightmares about work and developed high blood pressure. Anyhoo, five years later and 30 lbs heavier, I quit. It was one of the best decisions of my life. 😊😊
