Don’t talk about your home life. Only keep it about work.

One this I would add is that thinking about what's at stake for everyone involved not just the people in the room as well as how everybody's needs affect each other negatively and positively. This would add meaning to your work which could be converted into confidence. It would also improve your ability to come up with the best solution for everyone.

I am working in a hellish job now. Trying desperately to find something else. I wake up shaking every day, I can barely eat, and I cry most of the time. But I am on my own so I have to do what I have to do. Just hoping I can find something that is NOTHING like my current job.

My dumbass coworker who’s a major alcoholic was talking about sobering up, I shared personal stuff about what I’ve done to stay sober and he just blabs about it to my boss. I'd add to the list that they quickly invite you to have drinks after work before you really know them. They want to make it look like you are even better friends than you are by hanging with you outside of work. I've fell for the "insta-friend" gimmick before at the office, but never again! When you know better you do better.
