Also another great technique for filtering out in the middle of a track: Most of the time the hook in Hip Hop music is 8 bars long so you can just layer it with an 8 bar intro and it will work perfectly when beatmatched correctly

3:59 - How ironic, Phil says ‘just practise letting go’ and the song is called ‘no letting go’! Just thought I’d get that out there. Great video Phil, really inspirational. Keep it up!

Great tutorial Phil. I know a couple of guys pointed out that the first to songs aren't hip hop, but regardless - there are a lot to take away from this for any beginner.

It's a cool vid but mis information on genres. Out of respect to the culture of music and those beggining - The first part is commercial intakes from the Diwali riddim, greensleeves and Migente isnt really hiphop, just pop culture stealing influences from raggaeton and Dancehall. If youre going to do a vid on Hiphop transitions, can I suggest you use cultural pallettes that are from the culture : ATCQ, slum, (DILLA) , Wu, pharcyde, Common, etc. (list goes on)

The transitions and mixing style are the same tho, why nitpick so much about track selection when it still applies to hip-hop?
@merissab87684 жыл бұрын
Matt Haze Kaftor personally I find dancehall way easier to mix than hip hop because Riddims tend to have verrrry similar beat patterns. Tbh the two songs used here are both the same riddim, the Diwali riddim

@heythisaintebay4 жыл бұрын
Techniques are solid, but you've got the wrong genres for most of the songs. It's dancehall for the first two songs and reggaton Mi Gente. Also most hip hop DJs don't use the second half of the songs when performing live (that's just a side note).
