My brother and I have been watching film riot for 7 years now and I want to tell you how much we have learned. We both are professionals now and I can't go on without thanking you guys.

A really simple horror effect I love is having a character drawn by a mysterious sound to something else and then finding it's either silent or an inanimate object still sounding off. 'The Innocents' is a great example of that in particular.

That "staring contest" one is jarring as HELL because I legit got full-body chills and it's just the right amount of WTF is that? She doesn't LOOK like anything specific you recognize, which gives you this really unsettling feeling because you don't know WHAT the hell you're seeing. It's like at the end of LIGHTS OUT, the short... that flippin MONSTER thing and the second you see of it is scarier than MOST horror films from the last couple decades!

DUDE Ryan, you gotta update the Projector ghost effect with Unreal engine and a camera tracker. You could have fully handheld moving shots with a ghost tracked to whatever area in the house you hang the fabric. It would eliminate the need for a large scale expensive projector or LED wall, and it would give the effect so much more depth, as you'd be able to build mask objects for furniture to occlude the ghost and interact with items around the room. This would truly be a virtual production that is accessible to indie creators in a way it's never been seen before. I have such a good idea on how this could be pulled off, reach out and I'd be happy to explain the idea further!

Love these more classic episodes❤!! Ever since u guys did so many videos about AI, I was kinda disappointed and lost interest in ur channel… I mean u were always known for making filmmaking accessible to everyone with the talent and interest, not replace them. If I pretend like I didn’t see ur ad, this episode was really good tho!

These are cool but I don't think that much blood would actually shoot out forward from the skin around the windpipe. It looks pretty gruesome in the shot but not realistic at all. It would basically split open and ooze down from the now open capillaries in a slower fashion with much less blood but.... movies are rarely realistic. That stare contest, though.... hehehe I would have won because I would NOT blink at that point!

Look. I don't wanna downplay how amazing it is they did all this in after effects with masks. This is truly an idiot asking a question do he can learn... But why not just separate all those layers in Photoshop and import the Photoshop layers, then do all the extra after effects stuff? Seems like wayyyy to much work to make 30+ masks rather than just paint it out in Photoshop.
