Everyone swears by bike body separation, but very few people even know why this makes sense. It’s because you can more quickly turn by just leaning the bike instead of your entire body. This makes a lot of sense on tight switchbacks in MTB. For faster wider corners, it doesn’t matter whether you lean your bike or your body or both.

Typically squaring a corner off in a series of Corners is the best approach. Trying to get most of the braking done before Corner entry as well. Although Trail braking into the corner to the Apex is efficient but hard to master.

I’ve been watching BK’s vids for a few seasons now, and after a while it becomes obvious why sometimes the main line sometimes isn’t the best line. You can really learn a lot from watching (or riding) with great riders. I’ve found myself thinking on occasion ‘yeah, that was a BK line’ on rides, after uncorking a not obviously better line thru a series of curves. It’s fun! This is a huge part of the fun of deciphering the options when riding a trail, and is what this video is trying to impart. Great reminder to always look for alternative lines and how they might work out better (or worse). And can’t believe Elliot can brake so well with his brake backwards!

I went to the bike park yesterday. I go about 1 time a month. My riding buddy who is more advanced rode behind me. At the end of the line he said he saw a lot of areas/ lines that I made it way to difficult. The next run, he rode first, and at the sections that were knarly that I hammered through he showed me his lines. His lines were so much smoother, and faster. That was a big help to have a more advanced rider watching me ride to help with line choice and body position.

There approach of choosing your lines/path has a lot in common with motor racing on a circuit, in terms of what you wanna achieve (go fast, smooth, fun, etc.). Track-knowledge is a BIG advantage, but looking forward far enough is just as important!

Just found these (YT showed you to me) and loving this for MTB. It’s better for those with some skills. And I like that. Just a little tip/question: is the editor as good on a bike as you guys? Some of the cuts actually missed out the key moments (not all, agreed). Having said that, all the edits looked great, but maybe that’s only partly a priority? Anyway, great job and more please when you two are together. And Elliot as lead is perfect bringing his DH and RB experience, so sometimes you’ll have somebody else with him. But BK’s attitude has real value: he said it how it is, a good coach (no surprise given his roles at Pivot!).

Wow! it is really cool to see two pro-riders showing the rest of us how to do it! I subscribed right away, but I have a suggestion since the channel is new. I have been watching these MTB training videos for a few years now and one thing I see a lot of new training channels do is to cram too many skills into one video. Speaking for myself, I would much rather see more videos where each video is focusing on one skill at a time, with lots of side angles and slow motion along side the explanations. Cheers!

Brake bias needed to be corrected. Rear wheel lock is not desired in the apporach! Learn the fine art of the front brake. While it can get you in trouble, done properly, it will keep trouble at bay. Getting the front tire to plant during braking is key. If you get it planted, you can ditch more speed in a shorter distance and never lock the rear since it does little work. Ditch speed as needed.

One thing I have learned when choosing a line. When you are a beginner you need to select a safe line. But when you are more experienced I say, "Pick your line, then ride it anyway". Because some times you will be thrown off your line, but don't panic. Just ride it.

Picked a beginner out of a rock garden last month with a serious knock on the side of his head. His helmet was high quality but hanging around his neck. He’d been wearing the strap way too loose because he was copying his “KZbin Hero”. With the chinstrap really loose you may “look cool” but you may as well take the helmet off. Just wear them properly, nothing cool about getting avoidable injuries.

Love the bike design kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube. All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.

This rider is much better than I am. I don’t agree with riding over the grass because it makes a better line. Obviously I’ve gone too fast and ridden off trail by accident but I always plan to stay on the actual trail. Otherwise the trail just gets widened. When I rode in Fruita, CO a long time ago there was a local etiquette to keep on the trail which I thought was cool.
