I’m not a classic lit beginner, I’ve actually been reading classics for a long time but I’ve only recently got back into reading after a long depressive episode. You have great taste in books, the great gatsby is also one of my favorite novels :)

I went to school in Indiana (USA) and we read The Importance of Being Ernest in 8th grade and I was blown away. I had no idea that a classic could actually be entertaining and easy to read until then 😂.

I love classic literature, I’ve really gotten into classics in the past 2-3 years and it’s been fun seeing which ones I like and don’t like. I love Jane Austen’s novels, and I really love Leo Tolstoy. War and Peace is one of my favorite books ever. I also love the picture of Dorian Gray, it was so easy to read and it was really interesting. A classic you should check out is the Count of Monte Cristo, it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read, it’s really long though but it’s so good and super easy to understand.

I've heard so much about the Count of Monte Christo, I think this is finally my sign to read it 😭❤️

Interesting video. I truly admire the masochistic level of your intent if you intend to read War and Peace in both English and the original Russian. Shame you didn't talk about 1984, Orwell's allegorical novella Animal Farm is also excellent. Please remember, if you're just getting into classic literature that there is nothing difficult, or special, about reading them. Read them if you enjoy them, but don't be afraid to discard any book if you don't enjoy it. Personally, I would start with the *big* classical novels. Don't be in a rush, if you don't understand the language use a dictionary, and, as I say, if you don't enjoy a particular book then discard it and move on to something else. Life's too short.

Hi ! The Outsider by Albert Camus ( yes you don't need to pronounce the s) is a very well-known classic in France. If you liked it, you should read The Plague and The Fall by him, they kind of happens in the same "universe" than The Outsider ( there are references of it in them) I really liked your video :)

I just discovered your channel, and I'm also a lit student! I love Oscar Wild and have read the picture of Dorian Gray and his letter De Profundis. I have not read any of his plays, so seeing someone recommend The Importance of Being Earnest has convinced me to read it! This is unrelated, but I just discovered Penguin Modern Classics and feel many of those novels/novellas are underrated. I'd recommend that anyone check out the Modern Classics! Thank you so much for the list, and I look forward to seeing your channel grow!

I read The Importance of Being Earnest years ago, for some reason wasn't aware it's by Oscar Wilde? 😂 If you're looking for recommendations, I think both To the Lighthouse and Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolfe are short-ish (I remember A Room of One's Own being longer?) and fantastic reads.

Nice Vid - MAHSA!. Any advice on a person who finds it hard to finish books😂- I've read many books but suddenly don't pick them up anymore halfway - maybe because I read them too infrequently/slowly. If I read too much/fast my head becomes crammed.

Hiiiii, honestly I have trouble finishing books as well sometimes, and I think it's mostly when I lose momentum and several days have past and I no longer have the desire to pick up the book anymore. I think you just need the right book that will pull u out of a reading slump, like something right up ur alley.
