you unfortunately missed one of the most epic example: Vlad the Impailer dressing as Ottoman infantry and attacking the Ottomans in their own camp.

It was a castle, and because he was a hostage of the Ottomans during his childhood, he was able command them to “open the gate” in perfect Turkish, of which they did and his army overwhelmed the defenders

I remember the most Badass sneaky win was when Robert the Bruces army was ambushed by Amyer de Valence 2nd earl of Pembroke. This was the prelude to the successful Battle of Loudoun Hill. The ambush was so successful That Robert barely escaped and was unhorsed himself. He did unhorse valence himself which was pretty cool.

Not mediaeval but my favourite ruse was used In 623, by Chinese Tang General Chai Shao, vastly outnumbered by a Tuyuhun army he distracted them by sending naked dancing girls to perform in front of them, meanwhile sending his troops around a hill to attack the enemy from the rear. The result was a total victory for the Chinese.

Another was when Owain Glyndŵr won a battle, where the English had hired Welsh archers, who proceeded to shoot the English from within their ranks. Owain Glyndwr had also split his army, hiding half over the crest of the hill as to make it look much smaller, positioning his own archers up hill giving the arrows more range than the English’s. Henry Percy hotspur was captured and eventually joined forces with Owain

I think it was Hotspur's brother-in-law Sir Edward Mortimer who was captured in that battle. As King Henry IV refused to pay Mortimer's ransom [ the Mortimers had a better claim to the throne, Henry had usurped it from King Richard II ] Mortimer repudiated Henry, persuaded Hotspur to change sides and married Glyndwr's daughter.

I always like the battle where a leader used the opposite sides reverence of cats to win the battle. That one always makes me laugh.😂

At the beginning, during your ad comments, I heard "drag and drop" as "dragon drop", and it made perfect sense in the context of what you were talking about 😆🐉

Having the ability to simply stand ur ground & defend & counter attack was huge. Many miedeval battles could quickly turn into routes. Because the nobility would have to levy soldiers from general population which could be peasant farmers. The nobles & experienced soldiers would have to cover the flanks of this type of infantry because it was a possibility they may break & flee. This happened in the American civil war as well. Thats what makes the Battle of Hastings so unusual in that it lasted all day. Harold Godwins army had been thinned out from the battle at Stamford Bridge & he depended heavily on his House Carls. And William the Bastard brought professional Norman Knights. So it was a lot more seasoned men on the field that day. And William used trick with his calvary here & there to draw em out!

One of the most deceptive win in history, is an even known as “the Red Wedding.” There, the young King Rob Stark, his mother Lady Katlin and his wife Talissa, were all butchered on the orders of their host Walder Frey

I lived in the south coast of England for six months and took the ferry to Dieppe half a dozen times and I never got to see the castle! Something always got in my way. Road closures, bad weather (and even a ripping hangover) were some of the problems I had. Dieppe is a beautiful city that acts very like a small town in the way it conducts itself. I never once heard a car horn during my visits because the people are *so* placid and relaxed! And they certainly know how to party at night after a grueling four hour work day. Can't wait to go back!

The music @2:11 plays on a loop in my personal hell. Hate it enough that I just turn the video off. Used to bingewatch these in the background but I can't do it anymore because of that 7 second loop of obnoxious fantasy tavern music.

@@superdanuI'm in therapy, and my therapist actually agrees that the music is unusually annoying and I may be crazy about many things, but this ain't one of 'em.
