10:25 guess another allegedly convinient way of generating a sound is to use a skipback function while messing up with waves and effects, which actually can bake in all the fx tweaks you do in realtime and give you up to 40s of length per sample. Great video as always, appreciate you hard work!
@sunwarper2 ай бұрын
Haha that's a crazy good idea! I always forget about skipback because I've always got looper set. You got me thinking though, definitely something to explore in an upcoming livestream 🤔

Sound Generator is underrated on the SP404 MK2. Here's 5 of my favorite (so far) recipes for making synths. I'll be covering how to make drums with the noise and sine oscillators in future videos/livestreams 🔷Want more synth and drum recipes for Sound Generator? Cheers! It's a bit of a cumbersome workflow since you can't add the filter in sound gen, but once the workflow clicks you can get some seriously great sounds. That first one is definitely my favorite so far, but I still experiment with new ones during my livestreams.

I wanted the Volca FM2 for ambient sounds but I might consider getting the SP404 again. 😆 I really wish they would update the amount of octaves you can play via keyboard 🎹.

Ah man, the FM2 looks SO sick! I have the original volca fm and have made EPs using just the SP and Volca. But bro I don't know how you're able to sell that SP so many times haha there's so much it can do it's a nice little swiss army knife for the studio

@@sunwarper I bought a vinyl copy years ago and then watched as it grew in resale value to a point where I really didn't want to risk playing it any more, so I was glad to get a new copy for playing on the turntable :)

Individual Filter per pad would be awesome

Right?! The Roland P-6 added it and it feels so weird not having it on the SP

I also assumed the envelope didn't work in sound generator until I realized it's a fast attack envelope, so you can get a bit of a click or not as the waveform starts.
@sunwarper2 ай бұрын
There's seemingly multiple envelope settings but I've not noticed much if any difference between them when exporting. Even if it does do a fast attack, for sound design that's not really flexible enough to do what I need it to do compared to using the sample pad envelope. I hope they add some more in an update though!
@cgors2 ай бұрын
@@sunwarper Yeah, I assume it leaves the slower pad envelope out, since you can set that to operate by different gate lengths rather than baking it in. But the other envelope's attack isn't fast enough like in generator, so I've found it useful myself.
@purelygreyofficial2 ай бұрын
@@sunwarper You are right, it is pretty much the case so far -- there's barely any difference. They're all very short linear attack envelopes, the biggest difference would be that "B"s have a delay before onset. It could be said that some of them are the same, even. It's really not that great, and probably some sort of a work in progress, seems weird that they're omitted from the manual, not to mention that they are bugged when Length is set to periods (I tested on 1-4, it gets strange) I did some investigating recently and posted a chart on reddit just now

Very cool! I'm going to try this on my SP. Question: I have the same synth stand, but where did you get those trays that sit on top of the arms? Those are really cool! I could use one or two of those.

@sunwarper2 ай бұрын
These are some advanced features, and I know the pace can make it tricky to follow if new to it! This unit definitely takes some time to master. I’d recommend slowing the video down to 0.75x and maybe writing down the button combos for reference. I aim to edit for the KZbin format, which can make things a bit fast-paced, but it helps the videos reach on here. If you’d like some personalized help, I also offer online lessons!

I knew this thing was basically a synth with extra steps once I heard "sound generator"
@sunwarper2 ай бұрын
haha that's one way to look at it, but having a synth in a sampler that can also live loop and sequence helps for having a portable option for beatmaking and live performance without lugging a ton of separate gear

Good work, although for the amount of time spent creating like this, users might as well get a jobby job like the old days and purchase an actual synth.
@sunwarper2 ай бұрын
Lol I mean, it's by no means a full on synth, but having this kind of capability just further cements it as a little studio swiss army knife. It's nice to have my prophet08 in the studio, but if I'm playing live or jamming outside, having a somewhat fully functional synth built right into the SP means way less things to bring
