Hey, THANK YOU 🙏 You are amazing 😀 as a teacher. I really enjoyed listening to you. I’m 59 yrs old and I can see how much better it would’ve been for me, if I’d have learned these English tips, in high school, BEFORE spending the next four yrs in university. These little examples were very significant & important, back in those (olden) days. It’s not so much, these current times, but it’s a skill that I very much enjoy 😊 doing correctly. I often look up such words as: “affect vs effect” and I’m happy, in that moment, but I’d like to learn how to remember, in a more permanent way. Do you teach these lessons? I’m subscribing NOW, so I’ll be looking at what else you’ve got, for me. This is gonna be GREAT 👍 , for me; I love 💕 it already. Thank you 😊

The I before E except after C is the worst spelling tip you can give. Weight, height, albeit, foreign, heir, heist, reinvest, rein....the list goes on.
@jithujayaraj6 жыл бұрын
he already said there are some exemptions.
@sandrosuper776 жыл бұрын
George Thompson it has to make the EE sound
@alexandriariley52096 жыл бұрын
+Jithu Jayaraj when the exceptions outnumber the rule-followers, it's not a good rule (yes, really. less than half of English words with e and i next to each other follow i before e). If you were to reword the rule to be accurate, it would be "E before I except when sounding as in grieve, but still when after C" And even this rule has exceptions, such as "seize"
@aerocard48316 жыл бұрын
Also, half of those are loan words, meaning they don't follow English grammar rules. They're mostly Latin, I think.
@alexandriariley52096 жыл бұрын
AeroCard "loan words?" "LOAN WORDS?!" Ha! How exactly do you categorize loan words in a language like English? Shall we call them the ones that come out of French, which comprises 60% of English? Or shall we call them the ones that come out of Anglo, Saxon, French, Latin, Greek, Powhatan, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese, since English was originally Celtic and thus anything else is loaned to English?

Step one get a pen and paper or tablet with a pen And wright down the words you cant spell. Step two read the word backwards and spell it til you remember. Step 3 test your self during the week to see if you still remember how to spell it, dont just remember the order of the letters. Step 5 believe in your self!! Its never too late!! making mistakes is the half of learning, The other half is fixing The mistake. I guess its just more acceptable to make mistakes when you're younger, as when you grow You have to deal with GCSE's, colleges, uni's, jobs where making mistakes could be quite damaging and could make you feel very incapable. The truth is, your teacher has made countless mistakes and even still makes them. dont rush take your time! stick with it until its fixed

I forgot to add, reading books and watching movies not only help with your spelling & communication skills. but also can be therapy to your mind
