A fresh and honest movie. Very clean and sincere. Accepting those things that are from the closet of the fittest while trying to deny the imperfections of the moment. Reality is equal to the directions of the wind as it sways around gently or with great fervor. In the end we can affect some parts of an outcome, but the base is where the wind takes us, molds us, makes us into. So, we simply become the wind ... .. ..

Life itself doesn't allow people to change their destiny but one certainly have a say to exercise choices and change some but not all of our destiny. It is a difficult and intense topic but your movie is fun to watch.

I agree. I think my favorite part was when he played the game with the woman who worked in the bar, of looking into each others' eyes and the first one to smile loses. I want to play that some time with someone. I don't know that I believe in destiny. I tend to think that the life we create for ourself results from the choices that we make, and what we do with our time. I don't believe that we create our reality either, but that we can make choices in situations that we find ourselves in. We can't control everything that happens to us, but we can choose how we respond. And maybe sometimes we just want to let go and go with the flow and not try to control anything. Maybe ultimately, our character is more important than what happens to us or what we make happen. This movie does make you think. I hope that someone uses this plot and makes this movie again with a better ending.

I liked this movie. I am an Aquarius too, and know for a fact that we're givers, some people have told me so. We are creative, compassionate and peace makers.

Stirred up my nostalgia for the time when consumer technology was in its sweet spot - phones were just cell phones and the internet gave us access to extraordinary amount of information but only on a computer. I really loved everything about this film except there was too much boring dialogue. As if this was a short film script they tried to spread out across a full length film.

Maybe I'm missing something? Did he prove or disprove his premise? Lots of little things don't add up? Good acting. Believable characters. I don't feel like I wasted my time but the whole thing left me confused and maybe that's the point!??
@StephenLewisful Жыл бұрын
My takeaway is, Life's not already made for you, it's what you make of it. If you are still confused, I think you understand it all perfectly. It was a surprisingly fun movie to watch. Pretty smart all the way through. It got me right in the feels.

I agree it was a bit disjointed because it seemed like he quit school at Berkley and got a professional job in Chicago and a year had passed - but then he was back in class again. Some naivety on the writer's part, maybe, about adult life? Which is pretty ironic given the topic, now that I think about it lol. Anyway MY takeaway is that they all had a very life-altering crappy bday so he did prove the theory that the astrology IS legit, but whomever wrote that horoscope misinterpreted it. Although that point was totally lost by the character's assessment in the end.
@StephenLewisful Жыл бұрын
@@drivethrupoet Interesting. It's as if we watched two different movies, regarding horoscopes. My bias is horoscopes are nonsense. They are vague so they can be interpreted by any reader to fit their own narrative. Is it your bias that horoscopes are a real thing to be used to guide one through life? Do you believe in astrology?
@drivethrupoet Жыл бұрын
@@StephenLewisful I'm critical of the writer's lack of clarity on their own premise. The whole reason he looked for people born in same space and time is because that's the basic assumption in astrology - those people would have similar experiences. A horoscope is an interpretation of those astrological placements. Given they all did have similar experiences then he did prove the significance of the place and time of birth. But whether or not the horoscope published was accurate is a different premise. Personally I wouldn't make any decisions based on a horoscope any more than a fortune cookie. But this guy didn't make any choices either, it only sent his expectations in the wrong direction. I've studied astrology and it's very complex but I've not found any point in it. Moving into the fate vs free will debate, I do believe that we experience a mixture of both. "What we make of it" is more about how we internalize the world rather than what the world throws at us.
@StephenLewisful Жыл бұрын
@@drivethrupoet The writers of the story designed these characters to have an interesting similarity but this doesn't happen in real life. There are similarities between one life and another but that's related to our "needs and desires" being similar, not an alignment of stars. "" "What we make of it" is more about how we internalize the world rather than what the world throws at us."" We have similar opinions here. I would say they are two sides of the same coin and not two separate concepts. Victor Frankl posits, "Between the stimulus and the response there is a space..." This is where our actions are choices of Free Will and not Predetermined or Fate. It's a good conversation, though, and I imagine we are more aligned in our thinking than not.

It was a good movie, and the acting was terrific. I was a little disappointed in the conclusions that he drew in his presentation at the end. All four of the people born on the same day had terrible birthdays that year. So he might have drawn the conclusion that there was something to astrology after all, even if the horoscope in the paper sucked. But instead he made some vague generalizations about fate and love, and the stars. So schmaltzy. If I were his teacher, I would have wanted him to explore some of the ethical choices that he made as he carried out his research. I wish that more thought had gone into the ending, so disappointing, when the movie had been so engrossing right up to that point.
