I actually have a bachelors in communications and a Masters in public affairs, and I have wanted to teach for a few years now, but obviously I don’t want to go back to school again. So I’ve been looking at alternative certification routes. There still isn’t a clear answer for me how to become a teacher in texas or Pennsylvania our California or several other states. They keep saying the new teachers so badly and there is a shortage but I don’t see how this process isn’t streamlined or easily understandable. A lot of people will criticize the process and think that we are bringing lesser qualified teachers in, but that is not the truth, the problem is with higher education and the fact that it is constant siloization. Go to school for four years for a certain subject, and you only really get to see your concentration studies in the last two years if that, so by the time you’re halfway through, you might not even find out if this major is right for you or not. And by that time it is too late to switch unless you want to throw all that money down the drain. So most people like myself just complete the degree. We need more majors that are broadly focused and applicable to different things. And in the short term we definitely need alternative routes to become a teacher. Besides I think that most teachers, are so limited to teach strictly from the required books that their personal knowledge only goes so far.

Hi! I’m sorry you feel that way. All states have a similar exam. Yes…it doesn’t test how smart you are OR how great of a teacher you are. It’s a pure performance and should be treated that way. Every answer is according to what is the most effective, according to research. Strategy is king on this exam.

Teachers have told me that have 15 ,20, 10 years education, that computer test dont make sense. Some only took one test but evaluated by Principle see if they can teach. Principle know we can teach see us work hard and care for our students, computers doesn't see how we work in classroom and hate say this fool make theses test most of them have not work in teach field. Retire teachers told me this ,
