Pls tell me I am doing MSc statistics from Raipur and want to get settled as data Science I even don't know from where to get started from and how to get job??
@BiancaAguglia5 жыл бұрын
By learning statistics you're already off to a great start. Other basic skills you need are: 1. programming (at least one language, usually Python, although some statisticians prefer R) 2. calculus and linear algebra (to help you understand how to best transform your data and refine your models) 3. machine learning algorithms (eg. linear regression, logistic regression, random forests, KNN, etc) and libraries (eg. scikit-learn) 4. data visualization (matplotlib for Python, ggplot for R) 5. SQL (because most data science projects involve using SQL to interact with various databases) While you're learning these, try to get ideas for project work from your teachers, or to get an internship. Take any feedback you receive from your teachers or from the projects you get stuck on and figure out what your weaknesses are, then fill in those gaps. Data science is overwhelming at first, but, if you prepare yourself mentally to be patient and hard working, and then you actually put in the time and effort to become good at it, you'll surprise yourself at how far you can get. 😊 Best wishes to you.

@farhan56 жыл бұрын
Hey, Yes you can start with R and once you find it good then next step is python
@BiancaAguglia5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can, but Python is more popular. Imagine you had to learn a foreign language and your choice was between English and French. If you asked your friends what language you should learn, most will probably advise you to learn English because it's more commonly used. Of course, there's nothing wrong with learning French because, not only does it have its own beauty, but there are still plenty of places where you can use it. 😊 In the data science world, Python is more like English.

Maybe my time management skills suck but that seems hard to do working full time while only learning data science on the side. Also, how long would you say it would take to build a good-enough portfolio to get data science interviews? another 6 months? 1 year? Thanks!

Can you entangle electrons, and then split them into 2 batteries , and then put one of the batteries on Mars, and one on earth. I mean if you power the battery on earth moving the electrons then surely the entangled electrons in the battery on Mars would also be moving. Long distance electricity transport via quantum entanglement ? Can I just do that ?

Thanks for pointing out everything I won't do. I don't want a company to hire me just because I outperformed every other applicant at boring tasks. I want a company to hire me because they like my singular way of thinking, my particular state of mind, my unique personality, in addition to being pretty good at what I do. I just don't fit the employee the mold. Many companies would hate it, like "couldn't you wear a shirt on your first day?" - "Sorry, I don't own a shirt yet.". Some love it, like talking to clients: "this is our data magician. Looks a bit odd but doesn't bite." (me with geeky t-shirt and pony tail) Heck, even in my skillset I don't quite fit the mold. I love bridging the gap between low level details up to abstract features. I do some reverse engineering from time to time. I've had a interest in computer security in the past, but I'm actually more interested by the hacking side. (Ask me about the difference between hacking and security.) I just love to understand how things work. From hardware and electronics, to microcontroller programming, to system programming, to software engineering, to machine learning, to abstract math. I love all of it and know a shit ton about all of it. (Well, I'm less proficient on the sides of the spectrum.) And I freaking love to connect ideas apparently disconnected. That's who I am.
@AbbasHyder11096 жыл бұрын
What's the difference between hacking and security????
@Ceelvain6 жыл бұрын
@@AbbasHyder1109 Glad you asked. (I didn't think that somebody would actually read my lengthy comment. ^^) I have a rather old school and philosophical view of the hacking. Pretty similar to that of Eric Raymond. You can google his "How to become a hacker" FAQ. His other essays are also very interesting. Where I depart from his view is that I exclude any politics. In short, what I call hacking the intersection of creativity and a deep understanding of the technology. I mean, not only understand the specific details of how a sub-sub-problem is solved, neither understanding only the global structure of the system. But really both and how the details of each sub-system may (or may not) interact with each other. Take buffer overflows for instance. There's some engineers that designed the x86 CPU, there's Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie that designed the C language and many people who designed GCC, there's Linus Torvalds that designed the Linux kernel. That's a lot of people involved in making your C "hello world" work. What you learn in school is that in C if you write past the bound of an array "random things might happen". Now, if you know enough of the details of the whole stack mentioned earlier, you know what would happen exactly. And with some creativity you can actually control what happens. And now that's hacking! Not because it involve whatever security, but because you have to know a shit ton of stuff and make some creative use of it. Hacking is making your own plasma ball from a fridge compressor and the transformer from a microwave. Hacking is making a quick and dirty fix to a complex program that would otherwise require a lot more code. (Well, we sometime call this "a hack", and is often a temporary solution.) There's indeed an intersection between computer security and hacking. Because to side-step the common (and secure) path and to make it an actual security threat you need some deep understanding of the system and use some creativity of your own. But that's only the technical side of computer security. And actually, as years pass, the technical side of hacking become more and more of an engineering field. More often than not, pentesters just apply common techniques with little to no creativity. For many companies, it is just an industrial process. The field of computer security is slowly but steadily leaving the realm of hacking... taking the word "hacking" with it, unfortunately. I could probably go on forever about the topic. Expanding on the difference between hacking and: engineering, security, research, general intelligence and art. Explaining why free software is the consequence and the cause of hacking. But I guess (hope) you get the idea.
