Once a concept is learnt you must keep practicing it like a martial artist keeps training for its entire life. I got decent grades in Math and then forgot everything, when I realized I needed to be retrained I decided to do some math problems every day. So I generally have Math breakfast! I've been doing it for just 4 months and it is incredible how fast my skills are coming back. I went from knowing complex Calculus (including series, Fourier and Laplace transforms just to mention some) to not even be capable of factorizing polynomials (all that while being an engineer). Math is the fundamental language of science and engineering and like a martial artist you must train every day, a little bit, to keep the skills sharp.

I've since changed my attitude, outlook and enthusiasm towards learning high level math after learning about its utility in so many areas of real life and especially machine learning. At first, just observe. Afterwards, then absorb. Continue to find as many resources that encourage your understanding and near immediate gratification of understanding just one concept at a time of the math you're learning to keep you motivated and improving. Never give up and never surrender to defeat, in learning. Push through it and the obstacle will be your most valuable asset. Thank you again, Siraj. Keep up the great work you're doing. I have never been good at maths, but throughout my school years there were a few incidents were I surprised myself (and the teachers) by getting a really good grade in a test. It was very curious because I associated maths with being “smart” and I “knew” I wasn’t smart. But no matter how boring and difficult, there was something about it that was deeply fascinating for me. Now, years after graduating, and perhaps because I no longer forced to study it, I am curious about exploring maths just for the sake of it. I don’t know how far I can go. I am a little scared but a little more excited. And stories like that of Olympia LePoint really make me want to go for it. Could it really be that “anyone can have a smart brain no matter how old they are” as Olympia says? It would be nice to realize that one’s brain is capable of so much more than one ever thought... Thank you for the encouraging video. Apologies for the long story, but sometimes words just flow... Cheers!

If you are a mathematics or physics major, you will think these kind of maths textbooks for engineering and application are some kind of black technology because they don’t emphasize proofs and logics. Then several years later if some more advanced maths concepts are involved instead of just first year college student’s math, they will feel super embarrassed. So trust me, if you can, read those books for mathematics major. That’s the most appropriate way for learning math.

Tips that might work if you find it hard to concentrate. 1. hair tied up in school as I feel more capable that way. 3. Trust me Wear clean socks or socks that fit. 4. Have a very basic pencil case and tidy bag 5. One device to take photos of the homework. 6. Have clean nails, dirty nails are discracting. 7. 1 notebook to take notes from the teacher. 8. If that doesn't help voice record the teachers lesson ( do you want to get a good grade? ) they go way to fast, when you could listen to everything she said at a normal pace. 9. I always talk to the teacher about every single test. ( that's what they are supposed to do ) I have no problem with asking. 10. Quizlet is a great fun and easy app for studying. 11. if your passing in 3 subjects in school then try concentrating on the ones you aren't good at even get your parents to buy someone professional in the subject, you could be really smart, and I won't be happy until you're at the point where you want to stop but you don't because you remember reading this comment and your going to try really hard until you've done you're best.

Fast is a relative term here and utilizing the concepts in the video is a sure way to understand the concepts, this in the long run is faster than going in circles doing things randomly. So you want to learn it well? Well this is the way to do it too. You have to break down concepts you don't understand and think it through before you can understand it, there is no way around that.
