so what’s missing in your audition prep? what can you add to your process that could possibly help you for next time? let me know in the comments here. and i’d love to see you for my audition boot camp this summer - i’ll announce more information next week about it. in the meantime, download the audition cheat sheet if you want some ideas: robknopper.com/auditioncheatsheet

I'm doing more mock auditions this time around. I've noticed that in the last two audition finals, I suddenly become very aware of the eyes on me and I lose some focus. thanks for sharing your expertise!

then mock auditions will be a perfect antidote for that issue! make sure to get different people to listen each time and even better - musicians that you respect. thanks for watching! :-D

I don't get as organized as you would. I feel like I'm going to do that for my next audition. All I do is listen to recordings and then jump into learning them. I never have a game plan. 100% for sure going to add that to my next audition. Thank you!!

To be completely honest, I’ve never heard most of these tips. I work through the piece from the inside out and self-record but that’s about it. This next week I’m going to plan out my organization for practicing to start off. Thank you so much for the videos!

thank you very much, I found your tips very interesting, I do never record myself, should I use a cammera? or its enought with an audio recording? grettings form México
@robknopperstudio

in my opinion you should do a LOT of audio recording, since that is what you are really trying to tweak. and you can do a little video recording - definitely one big run-through.

What I haven't been doing is becoming able to feel comfortable with my hands before I begin soft snare drum playing, even in daily practice sessions (e.g. slight shakes and not a firm starting foundation). Do you think there is more mental work to be done or does the solution to this problem lie in physical playing/practicing exercises of the culprit aspect?
@robknopperstudio
@robknopperstudio 7 жыл бұрын
there's probably not just one answer to this. you probably will have to make more progress in the areas of technique, repertoire preparation, and performance. at least if you attack all of those areas then you're more likely to find the culprit.

when you are preparing for an audition you should focus on your simple techniques that you've learned since you were younger. During one of your practice sessions. If you need to practice your technique it will help you be nervous at your audition. Also I like to warm up in the bathroom so everybody walking in and out can hear me. It always gets me out of my nerves.

try some mock auditions! try performing the material for some people and see how it goes. if something goes wrong, you can go practice it and then try another mock audition. best of luck!
