Actually when air is forcefully compressed as it is is pushed through too small of an opening it drastically cools down. In fact, Superman's freeze breath is one of his only truly logical powers which is why I love it so much!

And let's not forget how in the Christopher Reeves movies, Supes could fire giant sheets of cellophane wrap to ensnare enemies and shoot beams from his eyes that magically repaired walls! Yeah, this was back in the days when Superman movies didn't even bother to tone down the comic book weirdness. :P

I think it'd be awesomely tragic if Superman had no control over his memory eraser kiss power. He'd be all " I love you, I'm secretly Clark Kent, smoochy smoochy!" and then it's like "Nope. Even if you could get together, you're basically destroying her life." Hell, you could even use it to justify Superman constantly not wanting to be with Lois like in those old comics. Think about it. He's not just being an infantile Superjerk, he's trying to keep her from his weird alien functions that could give her Super Alzheimers! I don' know, just a thought.

i think Smallville explained it as his lungs being so strong he can compress huge amounts of gas inside, like an aerosol can

And by releasing high pressure gas it expands too quick for it to absorb heat from the environment so the energy to expand comes from the gas's own temperature making it cold.

Agreed on #4-1...the Silver Age was a wonky time. As for Super Breath: he doesn't blow up like a balloon for the same reason a hyperbaric chamber doesn't change sizes as air pressure changes. He's the Man of Steel... Strong enough to pull in and compress as much air into his lungs as he wants. Presumably up and top the point it liquifies at around -195C. As for the freezing: I sorta just covered this, but what happens when gas is condensed under enormous pressure...it loses energy, thus cooling down. If it were released quickly the gas' temperature and subsequent expansion would create an endothermic reaction and draw energy (heat) away from anything it comes into contact with thus freezing it. Too bad I can't defend super-ventriloquism, super-stretchy-skin, super-hypnosis, or the like...But at least super breath makes some sense.

Super ventriloquism comes from his superior control of his muscles mixed with super brain. Super hypnosis is Super brain too. I mean regular people can hypnotize you so Superman can Super hypnotize. Regular people can mimic voices they do it all the time so Superman can do it better. Super ventriloquism. Basically everything we can do he can do it super. Muscle control, breathing, running, and the things we cannot do (flying) that is his super brain. We only use ten percent of our brains. He uses more. Who knows what we could do if we used more of our brain? No one. So they just made up stuff.
