One of the Frigate missions references a large, muggy planet whose atmosphere seems to go on forever, causing the crew to abandon their search for a "surface" before the pressure overwhelms the hull. I see this as a joking reference to gas giants since, in NMS, gas giants would be weird and rare.

The one thing that NMS never ceases to amaze me on, their render distance is unheard of. Being able to see the space station from the planet's surface and the game still saying, "yup we totally want to keep that in memory" Hello Games is a studio in a league of their own. I actually kind of preferred the old terrain generation, the chaotic shapes but also the mountains of spiral rock formations were great to experience for the first time. Great video. Cheers!

@Nightweaver12 жыл бұрын
The render distance is somewhat of an illusion, though. The distances you're seeing really aren't any greater than, say, being able to see the other side of Los Santos in GTA5 when you're in the air. Since planets are only about 1% of their IRL size, the distances are greatly truncated, and the space station you see in the sky is only about 2 or 3 miles away.

I only started playing about 3 years ago. 1) I found planets crashed into each other a couple times. You were able to physically jump from one to the other and the gravity inverted while doing so; 2) An ocean planet that had no land basically (not like the special glitch you described). I was curious so I flew around that world for at least a couple of hours looking for land. I found a tiny island that was just barely large enough for me to land on & that was it; 3) I came into a system where the space station had a freighter crashed into it's side. When you entered station, you couldn't access the area where the freighter was. Even after reloading, freighter never left.

I both agree and disagree. While there were crazier planets back in the day, they did follow a few archetypes similar to how they do today. Now that those types are gone, they feel more mysterious, but in reality I often recognized the same shapes and planet types as soon as I entered the atmosphere. The weird cube planet and a few others were unique though. Of course, I could point to a few such planets in the current game as well, though again, less wild. I wouldn't mind some of the old zaniness back.

Infinity and beyond, restarted, over and over. Null who explored every inch of his universe, and every other character. Man I was spooked

@IndestructiBil2 жыл бұрын
@@scremingbirbornot6662 yes absolutely, "The Nest" and "Infected Paradise" could be considered "home world's" but my suggestion would lend more to the story, I imagined having to build an incubator to rest your egg in and tend to it as it matures. Hmm, I don't have too many crazy finds personally but I think it was expedition 2 when someone clearly jumped from a destroyed freighter on one of the meet-up points so basically the entire planet was rendered as a slope. My homeworld in Eissentam is also a fairly interesting case because it was a ringed planet that spawned within proximity of another planet. Not quite touching, like some crazy finds out there, but it's pretty close to Earth in terms of sky, lighting, and foliage color which makes it pretty nice to live on. Glowing foliage and blood red water aside. Last weird one was a moon I found that had almost constant sand firestorms but frozen nights. I think the most peace I've gotten there was 10 minutes without a storm. Not really sure how but I've had it below freezing while in a flaming sandstorm simultaniously. You can't see anything when it's sanding either unlike some planets, which means you can rarely land without going slow and spamming land button. I suspect it's something wrong with the atmosphere in more ways than one. It's less commonly like that now I think after the cross-platform update

The strangest thing I ever experienced in NMS was tall gek. We took a freighter to an abandoned system and out of nowhere, all the gek NPC crew members turned into normal human-sized NPCs but with gek heads. It was really trippy.
@Kanaju2 жыл бұрын
Sounds trippy! I used to have a giant Gek crew myself. Not tall Geks, just oversized ones. lol

Pretty cool when you find a system with two planets either really close to each other or actually mashed into each other
@Kanaju2 жыл бұрын
Never found one, but I have seen videos! Very cool indeed.

A giant congratulations from me!🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉 I just started my channel around 6 or so months ago. I am sorry that I have never heard about you but I hope to watch more and maybe even interact. NMS has a wonderfully large community and I would love to introduce you to my little portion of it. Great editing and wonderful content!👌👍 I am striving to get so good myself.😅

Full water ocean planets or gas giants would be amazing. Not sure how gas planets would make sense gameplay wise, but it would be a cool experience to fly through.
@Kanaju2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think they'd just be fun to fly through. Although, they could introduce some kind of gas scoop that collects gas as you fly through it. If they added winds and storms that affected your ship, flying though them could also be a challenge. I could see it being a cool addition, but it's probably more work than it's worth to most players. Still, I'd love to see it! Thanks for commenting.

I saw those giant spinning plates around a planet back around Next. I had no clue what to do about it but decided to be adventurous and see if it would damage my ship. It didn't so I continued and landed. The planets surface showed the giant plates rotating around the planet. It was amazing. I have a few screenshots of the phenomenon but I didn't keep track of the planet.

I've found systems that defy all logic. So crazy how this game has been out for so long and people are still discovering things. Most of my time now I just warp around and discover systems and planets.

I miss those old desert planets too. It used to be that max flora and mineral weren't the norm. Now every planet has max flora and mineral capable by the game engine.
@Kanaju2 жыл бұрын
100% agree. I know casual players complained about empty planets, but having that variation of object density really pays off in the long run. Thanks for commenting!

Two strange things. 1) Two planets touching, with mental gravity anomalies between them. 2) Walking along a planet's surface, and a freighter just materialized on the surface right next to me! I could jet up and walk around on it!

This is the kind of stuff I look for too! The procedural generation has always found a way to surprise me. There are countless weird things I've ran into, but one of my favorites was a planet that had a large field next to a huge cave entrance. The field was scattered with cargo drops, damaged machinery, and those navigational data things with the floating red cubes. The whole scene looked like a incomplete campsite because of something going wrong, leaving them to escape into the cave. It looked eerie and awesome. Bonus Discovery: Whenever two or more crashed freighters are in close proximity with each eachother. Sick place for a weird crash site base. 🤘

Gotta love when the procgen creates something that looks intentional. Little moments like that are what make exploration worth it! Thanks for sharing.

I remember getting this too when it first came out, and how terrible it seemed. The grind of 'mine some stuff, get better ship'. Got back into it recently and it is SO much better.

And all of this can be seen in vr. Regardless of glitchyness the fact that THIS is in VR is insane.

While I was playing I encountered an abandoned space station and it already just looked creepy with everything being dark but when I went into the planets they were completely empty just rocky wastelands with no life besides that creepy ambience although there was one planet I went on that had trees everywhere suitable for life but still nothing was here only I was and again the ambience pushed me enough to just get on my ship and find another solar system
@AidenUPVR2 жыл бұрын
When you said the threat level of the space station glitch was because it was bigger than anything else you've seen; I remembered something from about a week ago. ( I'm a newer player ) It was my third deep-space object encounter, I stopped and a giant freighter appeared. I got so scared that I spammed all the buttons on my controller, I threw myself into warp drive, and never got the chance to explore it. Congrats by the way, 1,000 subs is my lifelong goal for my yt channel.
