Sir is it worthless doing prp and it's advanced forms like GFC. Many people won't get good results with that many clinics charges huge amount for single sessions. What i've learned many people belives that finastrade will cause side effects so prp is a great alternative for finastrade but that's actually a misconception as baldness continue to progress due to dht even if we do prp or any other treatments without dht blockers the hair loss will progress. Prp will work but i can give only a minimal effect if the progression of baldness is very high then it can't help in such cases even if you get the results it will continue to loose because of the absence of dht blockers. In short finastrade is the only medicine which can do anything to prevent balding or slowing down the progression but it's not a complete cure it will delay the process if you are going to bald completely at the age of 25 because of the intake of finastrade you may not be fully bald but progression is there. Many people not understanding the fact and spending a lot for treatments like prp and some density boosters it may work very well for people with hair loss ( not androgenic alopecia ) This is what i know about this please forgive if this contains any wrong information which misleads people
@hairtransplantinindiaАй бұрын
Your statement captures a critical issue in the hair restoration industry today. While treatments like PRP can have their place, they are not a substitute for proven therapies like Finasteride when dealing with androgenetic alopecia. Clinics that push PRP as a primary treatment, particularly while downplaying the importance of DHT blockers, are doing a disservice to their patients. It’s essential that patients be informed about the limitations of PRP, the role of Finasteride, and the long-term strategies required to manage hair loss effectively. By being transparent and ethical in our recommendations, we can ensure that patients receive the best possible care, rather than simply being sold the most profitable treatments. PRP therapy, initially heralded as a groundbreaking advancement in hair loss treatment, does have a role. It stimulates follicular growth and promotes blood circulation in the scalp. However, for most individuals suffering from androgenetic alopecia (AGA), PRP alone is inadequate to halt the progression of hair loss. The science behind it is straightforward: PRP delivers growth factors that enhance follicular function, but it does not address the root cause of AGA, which is dihydrotestosterone (DHT) sensitivity. Many clinics, especially those that offer hair transplants at lower rates, have found ways to recoup the "discounted" cost by promoting regular PRP sessions. Clinics will often tell patients that PRP can serve as an alternative to DHT blockers like Finasteride, preying on the common fear of Finasteride's potential side effects. This tactic is profitable for them but does not serve the patient's best interest in the long run. It’s critical to highlight that without addressing DHT, hair loss will continue regardless of how many PRP or GFC (Growth Factor Concentrate) sessions one undergoes. PRP can only provide a modest benefit, primarily improving hair texture and thickness temporarily, but it cannot slow or halt the underlying genetic progression of balding. In essence, clinics charging exorbitant amounts for PRP or GFC are banking on the patient's fear of side effects from more effective treatments like Finasteride. Worse, by allowing hair loss to continue, these clinics are ensuring future business in the form of additional hair transplants or other cosmetic interventions. You correctly pointed out that PRP is often sold as a safer alternative to Finasteride, but this is a common misconception. PRP has its place, but when it comes to androgenetic alopecia, it is not a viable alternative to DHT blockers. Finasteride is the only FDA-approved oral medication that has been proven to reduce DHT levels by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. By doing so, it directly tackles the root cause of male pattern baldness. PRP, on the other hand, does not influence DHT in any way and therefore cannot halt the progression of androgenetic alopecia. Even with PRP treatments, the follicles will continue to miniaturize if DHT is not suppressed. What many patients don’t realize is that Finasteride doesn’t just delay hair loss - it has the potential to significantly slow the progression of baldness over the long term. And while no treatment can completely “cure” balding, medications like Finasteride have been shown to preserve existing hair for many years, even decades. PRP, by contrast, may provide temporary improvement in the quality and appearance of hair but offers no meaningful protection against hair loss in the long run. Clinics often capitalize on the fear of Finasteride’s side effects, which are a legitimate concern for some but overblown for most patients. The narrative that Finasteride causes irreversible sexual dysfunction or other side effects has been exaggerated in many forums and has become a major point of anxiety for patients. However, clinical studies have shown that the incidence of side effects from Finasteride is low and often reversible when the drug is discontinued. By playing on these fears, clinics convince patients that PRP is a better and "safer" alternative, despite knowing that PRP cannot achieve the same results as Finasteride. In this way, they create a cycle where patients undergo frequent, costly PRP sessions while continuing to lose hair. As you rightly pointed out, when hair loss progresses, the patient may eventually seek another hair transplant, creating more revenue for the clinic. It’s important for patients to understand that the choice to avoid Finasteride should be based on personal health decisions and risk tolerance, not fear stoked by clinics looking to sell alternative treatments. If a patient chooses not to take Finasteride, they should be fully aware that treatments like PRP will not offer the same degree of protection against ongoing hair loss. There is an ethical concern when clinics focus on profit over patient outcomes, pushing treatments that offer minimal long-term benefit while steering patients away from proven medications. As a hair transplant surgeon, I believe it is critical to be transparent with patients about what will and will not work for their specific type of hair loss. Hair loss, particularly in its early stages, can be distressing, and patients are often desperate for any solution. Unfortunately, this makes them vulnerable to the marketing tactics of clinics that emphasize high-priced interventions like PRP without offering the necessary context or long-term planning. A clinic should be clear that PRP, while helpful for some individuals with non-androgenetic hair loss or as a supplementary treatment post-transplant, will not replace the effectiveness of DHT blockers like Finasteride. To clarify, PRP is not entirely without merit. It has been used successfully to enhance the results of hair transplants and to improve hair density and thickness in those with non-androgenetic hair loss. However, for patients dealing with androgenetic alopecia, PRP should be seen as an adjunctive treatment rather than a primary solution. It can improve hair quality, stimulate dormant follicles, and provide a temporary boost, but it will not prevent the underlying progression of hair loss caused by DHT. It’s also important to consider the frequency and cost of PRP treatments. The benefits of PRP are typically short-lived, requiring regular sessions every 4 to 6 months. When you consider the cumulative cost of these sessions, it’s easy to see why some clinics promote it heavily-it creates a consistent revenue stream for them, but it may not be in the best financial or therapeutic interest of the patient.

Companies will always seek to find ways to increase number of patients taking their medication. I feel with 20 years of clinical experience that below 21 if you expose your body to Finasteride your development gets affected. DHT is there for a reason. It is not a trash hormone.

What about topical finasteride? Studies show it is equally effective in reducing scalp DHT without affecting serum DHT much (depending on the dosage)
@hairtransplantinindiaАй бұрын
Studies are studies. Check who is doing the study and for whom and the motive behind the study. In my experience taking topical Finasteride will make you lose ground very fast and by the time you realise it, it would be too late - if you are young with aggressive baldness. In my experience those who report benefit with topical are those in whom baldness has stabilised and if they stop all treatment their condition will not deteriorate.
