1) Ankle rolls 2) Lunge - Elbows to ground and raise opposite arm 3) Shoulder taps 4) Knee hug with a forward lunge 5) Leg cradle with side lunge Everyone really should know these if they've played any other sport in school (football/basketball etc.)

Movement prep is crucial in skateboarding. I use it at 43 and it keeps me going. Increasing our balance, mobility, and nervous system recruitment. This helps so much especially when you fall. Priceless

I'm only 25 and relatively new skateboarding. The long sessions and jumps in skill level I keep trying to achieve definitely have taken their toll. Especially aches in my achilles tendons & soft tissue bruising, which have kept me off skating for weeks at a time. These stretches are exactly what I need! Great content! If anyone is reading this please wear a helmet I fell funny on flatground and am still feeling the effects 4 weeks later. I'm not even going to go to the shops without one now haha

I’m 52 and I’m skating 3 or 4 times a week. Yoga has been a God-send, and a mellow round of sun salutations really helps. Thanks, Chad - you’re hitting a good balance of addressing the reality of skating when you’re older but not becoming too much of a jock.

More skaters need to know this even if they don't feel like they need it yet. I skated for 15 years and was pretty good but I just threw myself at stuff and got a lot of injuries. It's the reason I can't skate anymore without the injuries outweighing my enjoyment. Anyway I'm 34 and went to the skatepark for old times sake after having spent time doing training PROGRESSIONS for various sports like gymnastics and rock-climbing for a number of years. I treated skating the same way. I limbered up, worked on strength and mobility and drilled parts of tricks as progressions till I could do the trick. I learnt so much more in such little time! I seriously wish I had treated skating more like a sport growing up and learning logical progressions towards learning tricks rather than just trying to be a hero and throwing myself unprepared at something new. I would have been 10 times as good. Younger skaters take this advice and be patient.
@jackstraw55274 жыл бұрын
Dude I thought the same thing after getting back into it after 6 years off. I don’t know how younger me learned anything, I don’t remember trying to learn stuff I would just luck into tricks and they would become part of my bag of tricks. With the countless hours I used to skate when I was 17 or so, if I knew what I know now I feel like I would have been so much better. It’s fun trying to really dissect tricks and figure out how to get them now.

As a former varsity track and cross country runner, there’s a lot I can add here and suggest peeps should and should not do depending on the style of skating they do or tricks you’re trying. This is a great place to start! thanks for sharing this. Our bodies are machines and we’re all athletes in varying degrees; take care of yourself! If you can’t move, your skateboard can’t move either 👍🏻

Believe it or not Chad,one of the best and most simple excercise,stretches u can do,is what the aborigines in Australia do when they get done with a long walk about,they just relax in a square position almost like a catcher in baseball its deep squat easy and I found it at blockbuster video stores,gone now,in a video called how to prevent back injury and how to not injure your back by doing certain thing,the squat was the best thing I took from it and it really get the whole body really mid to lower heavy thou....I've actually remember seeing pro baseball players doing the deep squat and though what da heck and now I know he was doing his lower body stretch last minute probably just to calm his start of the game jitters,and really focus one the breathing,nice guys THANKS,pro athlete in the house had to put my to sense in even if I can't spell it.I used stretch all the time,thanks for the reminder.

@opaidoharry6 жыл бұрын
This Filmora is really good but leaves a "water mark"(idk how to translate it to English); But I'm gonna give a try to this DaVinci, thank you so much man! And do your stretches! By the way: To stretch-EN Alongar-PT Estirar-ES Now you can say that in three languages!
@mellowwaves76226 жыл бұрын
+Lucas James what ever editing app you use that leaves a watermark use it if its good. Then get another app that doesnt leave watermark and crop video so that the watermark disapears. or just pay up that couple of coins to get ridof the watermark, its not that expensive.

The strength loss due to static stretching is only temporary and normal strength returns within ten minutes, a good mix of static and dynamic stretches should be fine for warming up and static stretches 15 minutes before you skate shouldn't negatively impact your performance (source:learnmuscles.com/blog/2018/10/26/why-does-static-stretching-cause-muscle-weakness/)
