Angling the pick definitely makes strumming more smooth. My biggest problem is when playing up to speed, the pick keeps falling out of my hand. Might just be my grip

Oh interesting! I wonder if you could try a grippy type pick or something? Maybe that’s just a muscle memory thing that will work itself out as you make little adjustments!
