Indie artist here - So far, I only have the lawyer on my team, and that has set such a solid foundation for my career thus far - They’ve essentially acted as an A&R executive by setting me up with writers and producers and manager by giving me strategy advice on releasing and such and they have been paramount in my growth. In my style of artistry (Janelle Monáe/Bruno Mars), live performance is really important, which I love - but honestly, it’s been hard being my own bank and not being able to afford the opportunities to perform live and even the services of rest of the team you listed at the moment that could really help move things forward. That’s probably been the most disheartening of the artist journey so far, but I know i’m on the path, and I believe strongly in the music that I have out. You both do such great work giving out resources to us all out here doing it - Thank you guys for all you do!

feel like i’m in that dua lipa position right now with not many contacts; but an indefinite ability to rap and also make music with a creative yet impactful touch. wondering what you think would be best here. i haven’t dropped music yet because i know it has the ability to blow i just want to get things set and be able to have people around me to ease it into the right areas

I do emails, network, make online content, book shows, do the ticket sales and make sure my artist gets paid and give them advice and my fiancée does photography and videographer. We make graphics and artwork ourselves. I’m a manager but I’m also doing my own track

Pay for a lawyer at the outset is most important. Lawyers know everyone and have the contacts.Most artists have to do it on their own until they get to a mid level I’m afraid as most people won’t do anything anymore without monetary compensation. A bad manager is worse than no manager. You only get a booking agent if you can sell out an event ! It’s savage.

We love this channel a lot but it's a bit hard this one. As an independent band ourselves who are just 2 years old, technically starting out, it's very difficult to get so many people on board. Plus hardly anyone will agree to do anything for free, and this will only add on to the cost of being consistent with releasing music because that takes money too. Even after trying our best to keep the costs at minimum by recording at home, we still have to spend on things like mix-master, video shoot, photoshoot, which is again just the basic spending for each song release. And let's not forget FB Ads. An artist starting out will have to travel the long hard road of doing everything themselves that includes composing, marketing, doing PR, creatives, hunting for gigs, managing, etc. before even thinking about getting people on board. But then again, that's what the journey is all about.

My town doesn't have a lot of entertainment resources. A lot of support and resources are on line. I would like to belong to a artist community. Especially jazz singers and songwriters. But O well...

Don't fall for these people's web page or suscriptions! Their Customer Service is THE WORST. They charged me 100£ for a 3 month period when I had already cancel the suscription and erased my card info!! They kept my older card info that is linked to my account and were able to take the money anyway. My cancellation is still PENDING even tho is was done long time ago!! They don't care about artists.
