Havasu local here. The reason for no streetlights is founder Mr. McCulloch's vision for the area. He enjoyed a dark desert sky with stars at night and wanted the town designed with this in mind. Over the years business development and residential growth have caused light pollution but it's still quite dark.

I stumbled across this video and having spent a lot of time boating at LH thought I'd leave.a comment even though I'm late to the party. Everything Carol said is spot on. Living there would only appeal to certain individuals looking for that environment. Would not be for me but it is a boaters paradise and I highly recommend it for that. HOWEVER.....for gawds sake DO NOT go there on a holiday weekend or any weekend for that matter, and especially when they are holding big boating events. There are U Tube videos of the Havasu channel on Memorial Day Wkd and 4th of July. Its a ZOO!!! Insane. Instead go out mid week. Get there Sunday night or Monday morning. Put your boat in the water and there will be minimal lake traffic and hassles. Its a big beautiful lake with plenty of areas to explore. You can also pack up for a day boat trip and cruise all the way up to Topock Gorge. Very scenic. I recommend the fall after Labor Day weekend. Everyone is back at work and in school and even the weekends aren''t bad. But mid week is still best. Late Sept into early Oct it has cooled down from the scorching summer temps to low 90's high 80's. Still great for enjoying the water. I lived in Hawaii for a while and I'll say the same about Havasu that I do about the islands......great place to visit......not a good place to live. Cheers!

Last time I went though there were 19 from one end to the other. Small town??!! That place is so packed with people and houses it's awful. All the roads are now 4 lanes and ALWAYS busy. It's become little California. All the cool spots are gone. Mudshark beach used to be a free beach. Dune buggies, quads, boats skinny dipping, Hard partying people. Now you pay to go and it's full of leather skinned snowbirds playing bocce ball! So many snowbirds going 10 mph in their 40 foot motorhomes tying up traffic and not giving a damn about the working people that live there. We're glad we got to enjoy the glory years but it's now gone forever. So sad. ,

Good job convincing me to not purchase a home in Lake Havasu!
@LivinginLakeHavasu4 жыл бұрын
Hi and thank you for commenting on my video. I was not trying to convince you not to buy in Lake Havasu. However Havasu is not for everyone. It is a small town with small town amenities. Maybe Havasu would better suit you for a vacation spot? I hope you have a good day!

Fast forward to Nov 2023 and you will find lots to like and LOTS to dislike, like the town is basically just as it was 30 years ago. I'm talking about shopping, yes we have a half empty mall but its basically a Walmart which we had before but now its bigger. Traffic has increased dramatically and dont even mention the cost of living. I believe the avg cost of a house is over $300K and there is an ample supply of multi million dollar homes. Traffic has gotten worse by the year especially in snowbird season which now is longer than before. Medical services are way over loaded , way OVERLOADED. HOMES are the thing that has grown immensely, in price and numbers, when we moved here some 23 years ago we were at about mid 40 population and now it has to be nearing 60 thou and almost at capacity unless they start building northwards. I could go on but that's enough for now, would I move here, hmmm, I have to think about that and it would be a tough decision whereas before it was a no brainer. Still better than So Cal thou. Oh yeah, and the lake has become way over crowded. Just give it some thought before you jump, and check out the PRICE OF A HOME!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi and thank you for watching and thanks for commenting. You are correct, home prices has increased as well as the cost of living. As the city gets bigger and more people move or visit, the traffic does also. I am not sure how to avoid it. The city was not designed for the new population or the growth. There are still plenty of good here, but it is not for everyone. Have a wonderful day!

I visited that lake there & I wasn't impressed way too crowded, too many boats & I'm not interested in boats & very hot besides it's not an ocean it's a small lake big difference so no I'm definitely not interested in moving there!!!!!

Hi, thanks for watching! Your are correct, not the ocean, just a lake. It is not for everyone.

The population is highly uneducated - there is very little in the way of cultural things. The community college is moving towards a trade school. The people are obsessed with "toys" and the Californians moving in have been changing the political climate for a number of years. The town will always be a fight between snowbirds and tourism with tourism usually winning. I lived there for 18 years and honestly the best years were my first years there then the city just continued to make bad decisions with the future of the English Village being one of the worst.

Thank you for taking time to watch my video and for commenting. Havasu is a resort community and relies heavily on tourism. I appreciate your opinions. Have a great day and I hope you keep waiting. If you ever need a realtor, I hope you think of me.

You are exactly right. The locals are misfits with low IQs. And there is a pervasive, malicious mindset among them. If you’re there on vacation you’ll most likely have little-to-zero exposure to them, but God help you if you actually decide to move there, unless, of course, you’re a malicious misfit with a low IQ.
