Can't tell you how many times I prayed for forgiveness, over and over again even when I haven't done anything. I think forgiving myself is just as hard as acknowledging what you did was wrong or a sin.
@gwendolynwehage6336 Жыл бұрын
We are never told to forgive ourselves, forgiveness comes from others, however, when we continue feeling guilty over past sins that we confessed to be cleansed it is a sign that we didn't believe God. And, it is a sign that we are still hung up on what others may think of us. When we confess our sin and God forgives us it is not necessary to care what others think. If they accuse you of past sins you can say with confidence this "I confessed that to God and He cleansed me of it, it is finished at the cross." We can do it with joy and peace in our hearts. How someone else acts toward us about it is God's business, no need to take it seriously.

I believe when we ask God, to forgive us even when we think we haven't done anything is just being precautions...when you lived in sin for so long and you came to the knowledge and gave your life to God, over time you would stop asking God, to forgive you even though you haven't committed a sin.
@gwendolynwehage6336 Жыл бұрын
@@RandomMind We know when we have done a bad thing, God tells us in 1 John 1:9 to confess our sin to be cleansed of it. When we become born again we change our mind about our sin and desire God to change us. All past sin at the point is dealt with, however after that when we sin we need to confess it to grow in holiness. Growth can only happen when we admit what we did or our bad attitudes, then God will cleanse us so we don't continue to walk disobediently. Hebrews 12:5-7 "…5 And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you. 6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastises every son He receives.” 7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?…"

I like how you were talking about having the spirit and having eveything we need to live godly lives. I imagined a dimmer on a light switch. God powers us with light and he allows us to control the intensity by how we use what he has already given us. Just like when Jesus said don't hide your light under a basket but it is made to chase away darkness (paraphrasing). That really spoke to me. God bless you for that. I OFTEN pray for strength to follow his Spirit more and not his flesh when eveything I have is in me and it's up to me to simply do the work.

It went on for over two months and I prayed about them breaking up because they did NOT belong together. I was in shock when the same night my daughter came home with all her belongings and crying hysterically. I just thanked God for delivering and answering my prayer. ❤🙏🏼❤ Shortly, after that she got back with her longtime boyfriend. She got pregnant, got married and gave her life to Jesus. 😊❤🤗❤️🔥🙏🏼🙌

Amen about your words on praying that he would give us more of his spirit, when we are obedient to the Lord he will pour out the presence of his spirit upon us more and more, however if we are disobedient at times this does not mean that the spirit has left us. just as a spouse does not leave you in times of trouble. but he does discipline us and he won’t give us that feeling of a warm love when we’re being chastised.

Be careful in your interpretation of that, which I think Mr. Parr misinterpreted this time. That verse means that because of our reconciliation and adoption to the Father through our faith in Jesus, we have access to go to the Father and pray for what we need and know that he will fulfil his promises to us. It doesn't mean like Mr Parr said, that we don't need to pray for the Holy Spirit to fill us or give him more of himself, because Jesus told us to pray for the Holy Spirit to be given to us and the apostles prayed for the filling of the Holy Spirit. We already have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us and sealing us forever and we have access to get everything we need from God when we pray and we will, but we don't have everything we need instantaneously and without prayer because otherwise we could not pray as Jesus taught us to pray and we would also never sin anymore and need to confess and pray for forgiveness. So, along with reading and studying Scripture, and striving to obey, PLEASE pray continually to be filled with the Holy Spirit so you can be more fruitful and use the spiritual gift(s) that he has given you to help / edify other Christians.

You’ve pretty much touched on the majority of things we ought to avoid praying to God for…I would just like to add as maybe a part b to the “already closed door” prayer, and that is: be careful not to pray God “makes” someone do something” for instance-to like you, to be nicer to you or to give you something specific..those are extremely manipulative tactics and are best to avoid all together(hint wives trying to “change” husbands)..🥴🙅🏽♀️..that borders on the line of Witchcraft, which is an absolute “no-no” in God’s sight…thank you Brother Parr!😇🙏👍🏽👍🏽

All of this is simply a part of maturing. The things you described are normal behavior for the immature and as we grow, we naturally grow out of such things. Where we often get into problems is when we expect mature behavior from immature people. It causes us to judge and it causes them to become burdened, frustrated and felling condemned. Quite common in the religious community.

I love that Scripture in 2 Peter, but I respectfully disagree with the application: in all those things that we have the responsibility to add, we need the Holy Spirit to help us. In some cases, I believe, we need a greater amount of His Holy Spirit; maybe a greater level. I’m not saying Christians don’t already have the Holy Spirit, just that we NEED His assistance to learn, to grow, etc. I agree with you on the forgiveness and what He’s told you to do...still listening, but AMEN! 🙏🏽🙏🏽✝️
