My daughter died 5 years ago. I went through the deepest pain of my life. In my desperation and brokenness, I truly believe God spoke to my heart and asked me, “Will I wallow in my grief or will I worship my God?” It was so clear and so gentle. By His grace, I got up from the floor and began to worship. He helped me with my grief and guided me through the valley with so much love from the body of Christ, from His promises, and from His Spirit. I praise Him and now testify to His goodness to those who have lost. Thank you Jesus! Glory to Your name. Hope this encourages you all. You can trust Him, always.

After my divorce I went back to my old lifestyle of drugs and left the faith. I didn't stop believing I was just in despair. God never left me and I never stopped talking to him. I couldn't get him out of my head . In desperation I came back and have not looked back. I realized I was an immature Christian and let my circumstance shake my hope. Jesus is always faithful even when you falter. Don't put your faith in people but in Jesus only.

My path was quite similar. Twice! Looking back I am torn because I feel like a fool with the choices I made to “put God on the shelf” but I also see how God is using my path to allow me to minister in ways I didn’t understand before. Before I was all “drugs are bad and you shouldn’t blah blah blah” but now I am able to speak with more empathy and say “I understand why you may chose that, let me talk you how God helped me when I was the same way” 🙏 ❤

I was having such a hard time dealing with the death of my husband. I prayed to God for help and one morning I had a lightness come over me and it was Him saying to me, "My child, I have heard your voice and feel your pain. I am here for you to lean on and to find comfort in your grief. Come to Me and you will find rest." Since then, my journey through this process of grief is not as difficult, as I know that the Holy Spirit is with me always. I am studying the Bible everyday and finding comfort in prayer. I know that, one beautiful morning I will be with my family in glory. With the Lord and Christ Jesus being by my support, I am truly grateful and blessed.

He had me up until the lgbt part. The Bible clearly states that they are reprobates and reprobates can not believe, so how are they going to be true Christians? If he says otherwise, it’s his word against God’s word. I’ll go with God’s word.

People who claim to have been Christians and have walked away from Christianity are lying to you. If they were true Christians they would not be able to walk away. The fact that they want away from it and deconstructed himself out of it proves that they were never real Christians to begin with. I have scripture to back me up. 1 JOHN 2:19 They have went from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. This verse clearly states that people who claim to be former ex Christians have actually proven that they were never Christians to begin with. The fact that they have time to walk away from Christianity proves that they weren't in it to begin with. Jesus said in Matthew 7 that not everybody who calls him that not everybody who calls Him Lord will make heaven. They will say to him that they were Christians. He's not going to say that he used to know them, he's going to say that he never knew them. University of the Gospel says that Christians cannot be plucked from God's hands. That means other people cannot take you from his hand and you cannot walk away from his hand on your own accord. . Therefore those who have called themselves Christians in the past and have walked away from it have never actually been real Christians. And yes the scriptures I shared and reference prove what I am saying.

Take heart in that if you have given your life to Jesus, you may lose a leg but you can never lose your salvation in Christ, and you can never lose His love! Nothing you can ever do can take His love away from you if you have accepted Him, and He is always waiting for you to return to His loving and welcoming arms, to say "welcome home!" no matter how far or long you've been away! ❤

I was at a leadership meeting at a large church. There were around 500 leaders there. I sat up at the altar for prayer in front of all of them, battling deep depression and a huge health crash. None of the 500 leaders, or the guest speaker, even checked up on me. BUT my faith is in Christ, not people or the churches. Jesus predicted evil influences coming into the Church in Matthew 13. Revelation talks about how the lightstands of churches can be removed, so they no longer reflect Him. I went through about a year of feeling completely alone and suicidal, apart from my husband as best as he could be there for me at the time. Only God has been with me through it all, despite it feeling like He's silent at times. When I needed Him the most, He stepped in. God is good, and He also helps me learn and grow.

And that's not a good question to ask. Peter denied Jesus 3 times and he was baptized with the holy ghost breathed on him before you get to the book of acts. So don't think people are not truly saved because they abandoned the faith because the word will tell you Peter himself rejected Jesus 3 times and he still was pulled back into his calling by God's grace.

It’s also important to note that : A lot of worship artists may not be true Christians to begin with. Often times, they initially try to make it into secular music but are not successful, so some turn to Christian/Gospel music to make ends meet assuming that it’s easier (which is not always true). A shocking survey years ago stated that 98% of Christian worship artists are not Christian (I only heard this from someone, but I don’t have the source, statistics is convoluted in itself anyway so idk). That’s why when some shocking news or scandal comes out about a famous worship leader, we shouldn’t be completely taken aback. It’s getting worse and worse. Amazing video, brother Allen!

"they then turn to Christian/Gospel music to make ends meet" Your comment assumes that it is easier to make a living playing Christian music than it is playing secular music. Not true at all. If that were true, all the unsuccessful secular artists would be turning to Christian music. They are not. And one "shocking survey" with that extreme statistic of 98% is meaningless with no link to it. I've been a worship musician for decades and met and worked with many many others, the majority are sincere committed believers. That 98% statistic is total BS. FYI, exaggerating the truth is the same as not telling the truth.

Exactly…spot on!!! Or, like Jon Steingard, who also deconstructed, some grow up in the church and just followed their family into it as young people, but never developed their own authentic faith. Then people find out they have a musical talent and throw them in the front the church based on talent and never confirm if they have a submitted heart! And once things start to falter in their lives, or the popularity fades, without a real love for Christ, they go and blame it all on him. This is a sad reality that the church just keeps on perpetuating!

Not ultimately and finally at least. But temporarily it’s possible just as we might say Peter and the original disciples lapsed on Friday and Saturday, but restored to faith by Sunday. (Contrasting Judas, whose “repentance” was really showing that he thought the sacrifice of his own unworthy life could atone for his sin and Jung himself so that “He could go to his own place.” Acts 1:25. Hence that’s why none were ultimately lost “Except the son of destruction *that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.”

I almost fell away myself. It was due to whole hearted unanswered prayers. I thought if I prayed according to God’s word and His will, then He would always answer my prayers. I had a pretty large prayer request for my myself and my family that went unanswered, and I was mad at God. I had a friend ask me, “do you think God is supposed to give you everything you ask for?” I hated that question at the moment, but then I realized that I was dead wrong. God is sovereign, and He doesn’t need my opinion on how He should be God. His yes is for our good, but His No is for our good as well. That was a tough pill to swallow, but His grace and mercy kept me through my dark place. God is goooood!!! Be encouraged body of Christ. Be encouraged those who have walked away. He is patient and kind and keeps no record of wrong doing for us. He is able to handle our questions and doubts. He is not mad at us. God is love and that’s why I serve Him.

Sometimes churches & pastors can sin so deeply against church members. A pastor physically attacked my child, and they blamed her and shamed her for being to godly & pretty. Then the same pastor cheated on his wife & physicaly abused her. He then ran away with the worship leader. We had to walk away from all that diabolical nonsence. Thankfully our faith was grounded in God and we are a still serving God. The hurt was ongoing by the telling of so many lies, it seemed to never end. And yet he calls people's applied critical reasoning and logic invalid if they don't come to the same conclusion as he does unless they have spoken to an expert apologist. In fact, he concedes that some things you just have to take on faith even if you don't understand them. He leaves out that science, medicine, avionics and the like are things we put faith in only after the theories and concepts we are relying on have been objectively tested rigorously against the empirical evidence. That is not how Faith, theology, or apologetics works. Just because somebody had a bad experience with someone else in the Church does not mean that Jesus didn't rise from the dead. Saying I have faith doesn't mean that he did. You have to do better than that and you cannot call somebody else's viewpoint invalid because they don't accept that.

Then I went to online churches, but I've stopped altogether now cos of all the points you've highlighted (apart from the LGBTQ one) Keep doing what you're doing cos you have your channel for people that know God exists but are getting sidetracked by life. God bless you, and keep fighting the faith fight. ❤

Don't judge fallen christians. Just pray for them.

With Reason #3, that also means that as a church, we must hold ourselves to the standards Christ set forward. Unbelievers may not read an actual bible, but they will read us. Everyone must give an account as to what they did with Christ on judgement day, however, I don't want to be the reason why someone doesn't come to Christ because of our behavior. As the body of Christ, we cannot offend someone away from Christ because of our bad behavior.

Unfortunately the ideal situation of an ideology is never perfectly achieved by everyone or even anyone following the ideology depending on how difficult it is. This is also true for other belief systems/ideology. Restaurants (especially fancier ones) follow government rules for hygiene and other stuff, this is an ideology to establish trust from customers. But can we be certain any 1 restaurant is 100% perfectly compliant on it? Or to an extent, every single restaurant that follow the rules, to not ever cause food poisoning or cause allergy (from cross contamination) for their diners? Someone suffering food poisoning or allergy might decide to not eat at whatever place they got it, but will they avoid every other restaurant too because of this 1 case? Its a really rare case they ever stopped eating out at restaurant, unlike people quitting Christianity because of awful experience with Christians. I think this is the idea he want to point out, most people dont do that for other belief systems, but for Christianity they do it like that. Even if a whole church is awful, is that even 0.01% of the whole follower of the system? Its still awful, but its intellectually unfair to absolutely judge the whole Christianity like that compared to other belief systems.

Yes we absolutely have the responsibility to be who we say we are, but the unfortunate truth is there will ALWAYS be some that are using the church or God to manipulate or hurt so what he said was extremely important.

Love Audrey Assad. My heart also broke when I found out she left the faith. Inheritance is one of the best worship albums I have heard. I have dealt with a lot of mistreatment from community and Bible Study groups, even when I sought truth and reconciliation. But I always knew that God was WITH me, and He SEES every moment of hurt within that. It was wrong that the leaders of those groups did what they did, and got away with it, but I also know that God is the ultimate justice bringer. Jesus was always my rock and shelter...but I grew up in a chaotic home. I am thankful that I have had a firm foundation of faith from the time I was a child.

It saddens me to see someone like Marty Sampson walk away from the faith. His early music inspired me in my teen years and kept me on the straight and narrow as best as I could. I played guitar and knew all the songs by heart off every album..even got to meet him a couple times!.. HOWEVER, falling away from the faith doesn’t surprise me.. too many churches, especially mega churches, preach such a watered down version of Christianity, God, Jesus and the faith, the natural response is people aren’t going to be actually learning and growing in their understanding of God. For my wife and I, we had given up on church, our faith was fading, and we were spiritually flatlining…until Putin invaded Ukraine.. THEN we started getting curious about what the Bible says about the end times. God brought us to a revelation series on YT from Royston Bethel church in the UK, and WOW!!!! We learned more from this series than we EVER DID in 35 years of putting our butts in seats in churches. We learned SO MUCH about the entire Bible, it’s blowing our minds even today. We love learning from Perry Stone and so many others that understand the history and cultural context of the Bible that brings it to LIFE. Our spirits are ALIVE now and we are on fire, but unfortunately we don’t fit in with very traditional church culture.. everyone feels asleep and complacent. Churches where we are from are preaching on surface Level behaviour modification and not teaching the actual word that will change your heart! I should really go to bed now lol!

You're able to continue watching after having your heart broken. It truly devastated me to such a degree that I had to pause 12 minutes in...and not sure if I'll be able to continue watching. About 8 years ago a friend convinced me to go with him to a good Friday service. He claimed the pastor at the church was the father of Michael Gungor. This was in Tulsa, OK where I guess his father was indeed a pastor, so it was pretty likely. I've been to many churches. Some a bit odd. But this church was covered in painting of crows/ravens. Some looked like they were dead. The paintings were all over the hall and even in the women's bathroom. I remember it was very "artsy". It gave me weird vibes, and I never let my friends take me back there. As someone who grew up in Tulsa, OK, I've seen lots of people go to the same college Michael and Lisa went to: ORU. I've noticed especially in the last 5 years a lot of people I went to ORU with leaving Christianity or really pushing away from its theology. I might be jaded, but I really think that college has influenced many students with a shaky foundation that later crumbles. I would love to see someone really dive into the school's teachings and operations

A good place to start is with 1 long for truth with Daniel and Robin Long. Also I believe Pastor Chris Rosebrough on Fighting for the Faith has done some content on Oral Roberts. The last one I watched Daniel and Robin covered Oral Roberts and Kenneth Copeland, that was eye opening . If you know anything about Kenneth Copeland then you know he is a false teacher. Oral was a false teacher also, birds of a feather flock together. So it's not surprising if there's strange stuff coming out of ORU. This is all coming from Satan. We are warned of false teachers and having itching ears. Both of those podcasts I recommended are solid in their teaching. Also Justin Peters might have something on Oral Roberts also.

Well done!!! "Just because xxxxx happened, does that mean that Jesus did not rise from the dead?"!!!!! THIS is absolutely the heart of it all, of course! I get so exhausted trying to reason with folks sometimes, & it is not unusual to get lost in details while trying to answer arguments that circle around & around, because so often, people would rather argue that they are right than to listen. The trend with deniers of anything these days seems to be to refuse to actually have a conversation, instead seeking that "drop the mic...gotcha... in your face" moment. 😢 But this ONE QUESTION should stop everyone in their tracks, & it IS, THE question. Ty for your interesting input. There were kearnals of truth in some of your observations. The item you listed as fourth most important, questioning, occurs as a result of your latter three observations. That very questioning leads people to ask just that. Did Jesus rise from the dead? Because a book said so? Your points regarding those of the LGBTQ2+ wanting to be their own gods is astounding in its narrow minded approach. Thank you for continuing to exemplify Christian’s and Christianity.

I applaud Jars of Clay for not giving in to Christian bullies who criticize them for being “too mainstream” for writing fewer explicitly Christian songs. It’s okay to write songs about struggle. About confusion and doubt and shaken faith. Any Christian only discussing affirming parts of their faith is disingenuous. Basically, it put their job in opposition to their authentic faith journey. And they decided to write the songs they felt called to write, even if it meant not being considered a “Christian” band. It was the right decision.

As Christians we all in a battlefield every second of our lives, we are living in the kingdom of darkness and we are continually being lied to by satan, our worse move is to give up at the most painful time and turn our back to Jesus instead of running to Him for protection and guidance. Our best weapons are surrender to Jesus and pray for his help, not running away and be unprotected. Yes we all imperfect but He loves us all incondicional and as a good Father he will protect us and heal our wounds one by one and will give us courage and strength in return from all the suffering we were put through. My flesh is always afraid but the spirit of God always insured that I feel protected and strong, I can’t never run from Him because I always ended missing His presence surrounding me. Brothers and sisters be strong and continue walking His path and even if we fall get up don’t give up because He is carrying us ❤

I didn’t realize till now that there was two of me. You spoke truth and phrased it perfectly well and I can’t think of a better way to present that argument. Francis Chan did the same titled “we are created for his glory “. Which was based on the book of job. 20 minutes in is where it really starts. Or Francis Chan “The awe of God” 3 minutes of seeing earth from a distance and I mean like men in black but more extreme. And lastly if you have time to laugh there’s Francis Chan in England where he’s talking to jr high age kids and telling them about how messed up his life was. How much death surrounded him and how he ended up making sense of it all. I’m not actually a big fan of his so when he connects with me I’m really drawn in.

I live in Brazil, and the same thing happens here. Honestly, I think there have always been people who have a deep relationship with God, and people who have never stopped being "mother's milk" and whose faith can be more shaky. The problem is that we live in modern times and churches, ministries, and pastors are achieving a lot of fame and popularity thanks to the Internet, and with that comes money. So a pattern is established, a profile of people who appear to be sailing in deep waters with God, when in reality they have only learned the profile of commercial success among the Christian people. It hurts my heart to see pastors being caught in adultery, musicians and worship leaders leaving Christ and making profane music... But God is jealous of His church, and the fruits reveal the type of tree. My prayer is that God will raise up in our generation a mature church that will stop calling believers to people who have never understood that the message of the gospel is the message of the cross, a Church that stop giving exposure and visibility to people who have not shown fruits of maturity in the faith.
