5 things I HATE about my Datsun 280z

These were hard to come up with because I absolutely love my Datsun. BUT, that doesn't mean that there aren't some issues you may face with owning one! So, here they are.

Very spot on assessment in my personal experience. I own a 1978 280Z and all 5 points you brought up I fully agree with. It's a wonderful car and definitely a head turner but I have dealt with each and every point you mentioned.

I have daily driven my 260z for over 2 years straight now and have never had a problem. Biggest issue for me is waiting for it to warm up if I have to leave in the morning.

If the rust goes along with the cost of ownership, the attention kinda goes along with the parking paranoia too for me. I know wherever I park it there's a chance I'll find people hovering around it when I return. Sometimes it's great, most of the time I just want to get out of the gas station without someone else striking up a conversation that I've already had a hundred times before. The good attention are the smiles, honks and waves; those never get old!

I daily drive a 260z modded,,,I can admit If you get into a accident in this car,,,you might not walk away ,,,it's like driving a really cool tin can,,,,,

Number 5 is no joke haha. I have a beautiful 510 i cruise around and it gets some attention for sure but I also have a early 260 project I finally took on it’s maiden voyage the other day and it was ridiculous the amount of head turning, honks and even small talk at the gas station. There were 3 workers and they all came over while a other guy getting gas was telling me about his old Z. Seriously crazy for what used to be the “poor man’s Porsche “

Well your obviously crying out for ink in the comment section so HERE , WE GO! Buy an alarm, a good alarm.it will let you know your car is good. Buy good tires and very good brake pads and shoes. Buy a modern up grade for your fuel injection system. Called "Easy- Fast" , it Eliminates the antique fuel injection, components you have in your 50yr old car, it gets rid of the air flow meter and a number of sensors. It comes with an entire complete, new wiring harness , ( replaces 50yr old connections) and best of all it replaces the 6x8 kick panel CPU ( doing it's thing before home computers ) replaces that dinosaur, with a small 3x4 self learning CPU. As far as being a RockStar just for driving a cool car. Hand out a business card and say , email me If love to hear your Datsun Z story. But I do have to run. Speaking of, you got to run, your far safer ,than a motorcycle rider , you don't see them , shuddering in fear. It's a SPORTS CAR, not a PASSENGER car maintenance is EXPECT as the OWNER ,of a SPORTS CAR. If you don't want to keep after it, you really should own a Toyota. As I have two restomod Z cars. I can see why you say these things. But as a SPORTS CAR guy , I stay Man-up , or sell it. All will be illuminated.

Unfortunately, not everyone has thousands of dollars that their disposal to restore a Datsun. It’s nothing to do with Maning up

Hello Stall issue some times the FLOOR TEMP SENDER ( under the passengers seat ) screws up just disconnect it ! it is there for the catalitic converter could heat up and cause a fire ...it is there to shut the car down befor that happens some times it screws up and shuts the car down for no reason

Get both 🤷😁. Jokes aside, if your gona do a crazy build go with the 350. You won't hurt the value as much than on a Datsun and parts will be cheaper

Throttle position sensor. The L28 engines had them, so 280z’s and Zx’s. They are EFI
