Things I hate about my Tesla that are a little more serious than a cup holder in my E-Tron: Crazy build quality issues, abysmal customer service, a very stiff/uncomfortable ride, poor interior noise levels, uncomfortable rear seats, being a beta tester for things like 'Smart Summon', and an interior with poor controls that is anything but 'luxury'.

Hi, about the A/C turning off when leaving the vehicle, what I figured out is to restart the vehicle while leaving the driver’s door opens, keep the key inside the vehicle and then close the door. The vehicle’s power will remain running and won’t turn off. I tried this on my e-tron and worked.

True. My husband & I don’t drink Big Gulps, haha, but the cupholders in my Audi Q7, that we had before this one, were a little roomier...The door water bottle holder in the Etron doesn’t work at all. Things just roll and rattle around. The Q7 door one I could always put my water bottle in, and it would contain it without any issues. Love my Etron, but would just love the compartments & holders to be better. Never had any complaints w/ the Q7. I know they’re working w/ a smaller space in the Etron though. :)

There is a solution to the climate control issue. When you turn the E-Tron off the upper panel will display an option to turn on climate control which will run for 30 minutes. You do this by pressing the thermometer icon on the display. This would solves the problem of keeping people cool or warm when the driver exits the car to pick something up at the store.

Cup holders are rarely used in Germany, it's a compliment to American culture that you have any. And why would you want a bottle in the door pocket open without a lid? That the car is being turned off it's a safety feature. In the case they are children's left or animals nothing happens on board untill the key and the driver comes back. For the cooling or the heating of the cabin, there is a function right in the middle of the middle screen just push it. By the way it was a US court ruling against Audi, a driver of a Audi 5000 was run over by his car, that made Audi very cautious about turning the car off so nobody can be run over by his own car. Yes the app is awful, I just don't use it. Maybe they program something new.

The center console complaints really demonstrate Europe vs US driving habits. In Europe eating and drinking while driving is discouraged and its much more common for police to cite someone with distracted driving and points on their license for it. Its not really the common place habit it is here in the US (where you're guaranteed to see someone scarfing a cheeseburger or eating a bag of chips on a drive or pick up a cup of coffee through a drive up stand). And grabbing your phone to use it, even at a stop light, is definitely a no go in Europe (texting while driving is as much a problem in Europe as anywhere, but much more strictly enforced there - compared to US where the law varies state by state and enforcement can be lax). So no surprise to see a European car's lack of focus on those kind of things (I think the clip in charger is a neat idea, though I'd be nervous about that clip scratching the screen?).

Do you recommend 2019 Audi E Tron (in 2023)? Thanks. Is charging an issue on long trips?
@ScottSchapiro Жыл бұрын
@@KZbinuseritis If I were on longer road trips on a regular basis, I would absolutely not get an e-tron. At highway speeds, you are getting perhaps about 170 miles on a charge, and fast charging means at least a 30 minute stop. So every 2 1/2 hours or so, you are stopping for 30 minutes to charge, assuming you are near a DC fast charger. For some people, that may not be an issue, but for me, it is a total dealbreaker. I would either rent a car for such a journey or I would skip an EV altogether. However, for daily driving in town, it is an excellent luxury SUV. To be fair, I think that until we can get recharging times much closer to that of a gas fill-up, and the time between charging (longer range) increases, I think an EV on a road trip is not something that would interest me. At the same time, I do believe that EV's are the future.

Interesting that the cup holders cause a problem. Our son purchased our previous car over a year ago and realised last week that it actually has two cup holders!We live in England and can honestly say that if a car didn’t offer any cup holders it would not be a problem.A small bottle of water in the door would be sufficient.Any journey of more than a couple of hours we would just take a break.The distances travelled in one journey in the US must be a lot more.
@laurenmansell43464 жыл бұрын
Cultural and personal thing, I guess. I always travel with at least 1 water bottle, and so does my husband, so at least 2 cupholders are necessary...more if our dogs or any people are with us. Plus I often have to bring my medication with me, and one is liquid, and requires water to mix it with. So I usually have a separate bottle for that. Also, these supposed door water bottle holders do not contain anything well. The bottles just roll and rattle around, and it drives me nuts, so I usually don’t use them-only the actual cupholders...It’s not a deal breaker, just an inconvenience for us personally, and something worth mentioning. Sounds like it wouldn’t be an issue for you though, so that’s great! To each their own! :)

Maybe try updating your Audi app ... mine has a quick swipe up and immediate access to Climate Control from the moment you open the app. Your only legitimate complaint is #5 -- I agree the fact the vehicle turns off automatically after maybe 20 seconds from exiting the vehicle is crazy. I've literally run back into my house to get something I forgot, come back out, and as soon as I opened the door (20 seconds or so after I've exited) the e-tron shut itself off. Should at least be a setting that can be changed to auto shut off at certain intervals or not at all. It's not like I'm wasting gas or will carbon monoxide myself in my garage. And you left off #6 (really #2), flaky wireless Airplay. That's a feature of wireless technology, I'm afraid, as I have flaky wireless Airplay in another vehicle too, but phone doesn't always connect. Park assist is voice controlled, by the way. Try to operate the door handle at its tip, it gives you the extra delay you need. Why I got into the habit? Because most European cars actually have the handle set to only unlock if fully pulled, whereas American cars tend to unlock at the first movement of the handle. Regarding the turning off once leaving the car does come up as you remove the fob from the car. I am not sure if you want to deactivate this feature. But it is possible. But i drove 560km with it this summer in 25degrees celcius and driving speedlimit. Not over 80km/h. I could have even drove slower at times. This is well known at least in norway where 50% of all new cars sold ar ev’s every year. And we have ALOT of teslas here they are everywhere. We have small turny» roads and rough asphalt and cold winters. But it is well known here at least that teslas actually goes further than what the car estimates. Etrons are actually also getting very popular here so i know 3 ppl that have each a etron 55 and they all report very high usage and lower range than the car estimates. There actually might be something wrong with your tesla if ur experiencing so low range compared to estimate. Just google around some on forums and indepth reviews u will allways find that teslas have the best range and also estimates range the best. Just check it out. Im really baffled that you can be so defensive about this when it seems u actually dont know very much about this subject at all. Or offc there actually might be something wrong with ur tesla idk.

Not being defensive, just responding to your comment and explaining my experience. I’m not an expert on Teslas or e-trims and don’t claim to be one. Just sharing my experiences and opinions. 👍🏻

Don't know how to deactivate the feature with turning off your car, but aux climate is easier to turn on if you leave the car. Same result as using the mobile app, but fewer buttons, fuzz and less time turning on. I guess they've done this to save energy. It's in the climate control app.

Oh my God, so manyyyyyyy real problems. Poor guy, you have no idea what real problems are in the real life 😂😂 Honestly, if you cant just look the button you’re pushing or scrolling your phone screen, i’m sorry for you. The same about the doors opener or the cup holder: seriously ? WTF??

LOL If you really think I’m “complaining” in this video then you missed the entire point if this video. I’m very grateful for the life I’ve created for my family and the others that I help do the same.
@Andrewkc19694 жыл бұрын
I thought your review..err video was sponsored by DJI with that intro. You spent way to much time complaining about the app and comparing it to a Tesla. Its not a Tesla! And your Tesla app seemed to have a pretty damn big picture of your car on it too. You own a Tesla P100, you have to understand what that means, in terms of your range. Its a performance vehicle, so you're going to drive it more aggressively, like in the clip you showed. The Audi, not so much. Thats why the Audi is better at estimating range. I never got to number 2 because I got tired of the review in the middle of your video and your bragging about your cars. Maybe shorten the video a bit by getting right down to the point. It bugs the crap out of me when you guys make your videos excessively long, just so you can make more money.
@ManShed4 жыл бұрын
I’m sure you had a great comment but I got tired of reading halfway through. I wish you guys would just get to the point instead of making your opinions accessibly long just to make it sound more legit. 😉 PS. My drone intro is not perfect for sure and a bit too long but it was my first attempt at that kind of edits so I think I did ok. 👍🏻

Wait so your basicly saying your 2018 Model S 315 mile is less efficient than your Audi E-Tron which EPA rated at 204 miles per charge 😂. You should do a range test for both car going 75 mph and see 👍.

I had the same problem with my 2018 model x 100d supposedly it 295 miles but I was getting 210 to 220 the most with the 22" I'm sure it's the way I drive I'm not complaining but with the Etron I'm getting 180 to 190

1 of 5 things you hate about a car is extra swiping in an app for the car? How much time is wasted talkin about how much time you wasted on something so stupid?

I've had a loaner E-tron sportback for 3 days and I hate it. It's too focused trying to be an Audi that happens to be electric. No innovation, absurd price, garbage steering and handling, slow, expensive, annoying placement of skip/volume buttons where you can accidentally skip tracks while driving in a spirited manner, middle cupholder area is trash, it's like it has the facade of being intuitive without actually being user friendly at all. Lastly - no one foot driving or regen brakes that will actually slow you down. Talk all the shit you want about Tesla's build quality - they are light years ahead when it comes to convenience features coupled with a capable "soft" sport car. Can't wait to return the E-tron.
