5 Things I HATE about the NC Miata

Not all sport models have no remote control. Whoever ordered your Miata cheaped out on the convenience package ($250). The convenience package added remote control, cruise control and a few other things for almost nothing in cost. Added bonus with the sport model is the super rare 5-speed which doesn’t require you to shift as often as a 6-speed. I’ve owned both in the Miata and much much prefer the 5-speed hands down. As for the audio system, I rarely even listen to it. I just love the sound of the free-revving engine. I would absolutely need a nice sound system if this was an EV no doubt.

Sounds like allot of your complaints are related to it being the base model and a soft top, on mine the only of those complaints I can relate to is the visibility. On the sounds system, I got lucky since I bought one with the alpina navigation from factory, upgrading the headunit to a Kenwood DMX8021DABS was painless and the sound is really good, to the point of satisfying my audiophile father. Could use a bit of more bass but that would require a dedicated subwoofer.

I have a 08 Niseko 2.0, only thing I hate, after I drive my Miata every other car feels soooo boring. In fact mine has remote controller with trunk opening button as well. But I don’t use it. I like the mechanical feel of locking mechanism of the trunk 😂

On nd2 we have take apart the key fob and pull the physical key out just to unlock the middle glove compartment

I have a NC1 (2008) and I have a key fob for locking and unlocking doors, popping the trunk all remotely, why doesn't yours? I thought it was std on all models?

I’m surprised by that gap in the seats. I have a 2013 PRHT Grand Touring with the leather seats. It doesn’t have the gap but it does have keyless start and entry. I guess my PRHT is probably quieter too. Don’t let the cops see you with earplugs though. It’s illegal in some states. Those blind spots are annoying though. You can get oval stick on mirrors that help a lot. Also, I updated my head unit to a Sony unit with CarPlay. It’s a great upgrade. I also went with a bigger tire. I went with 225s on the stock 17” rims. Not nearly as much ride height issues. Glad you joined the yacht club, captain!

These are all base model problems. A GT or Club sport will have keyless, better seats (recaros with the club sport), and the Power Retractable Hard Top (PRHT) will be better for noise. The Bose is better than base but not perfect... and with the bilsteins + Upgraded rims, the ride height is acceptable for a stock set up.

I can understand about the wind noise. I drive home through a tunnel, ear plugs are mandatory. Yes I could drive with the top close but why drive a mx5 with a race exhaust if you don’t want to hear it.

I'm surprised they had a version with 0 keyless, I thought it was either the keyless fob or the switchblade key ( which has remotes ) I'd probably check with Mazda on that. ( Granted the two NC's I had were a Club and GT, both with vastly different fob styles ) But I thought the Club was mostly a sport with a 6MT and LSD/Bilsteins.

5 things you hate about YOUR NC Miata. You got a base model dude. You're complaining about issues that are specific to your car: Keyless entry - it is available, just not in your car Wind noise - it's a soft top convertible! The PRHT exists Sound system - your base system is shit. Bose, less shit but still shit. You got a point here, I give you that Ride height - You're on 16" FD RX-7 wheels! Most OEM wheels in NA are 17". That explains the gap in your wheel wells
