Tlhompho Ditedu As much as this country is known for Racism, i have to say that i haven't experienced it in any particular way. What i can say about Germans is that they don't pretend. If they don't like you, they will show it. But everyone's experience is different. Having a positive mindset while being/living in this country is very important. They love hardworking people though😊😊

Regarding the hospital: Germany has actually another "layer" between your doctor and the hospital. That's the "ärztlicher Bereitschaftsdienst" / "Emergency doctoral service" which is available 24 hours and should be called when there is an emergency that cannot wait but isn't actually severe enough to call an ambulance or go to a hospital. Like your child getting sick at 2 a.m. or something. It's available in whole germany by calling 116117. :-)

Hi Milly, Congrats to this nice video. It is interesting to see Germany through the eyes of an foreigner. Things like the public transportation, which is totally normal for us and I was really surprised, when I watched another video about it in the USA. Even they were fascinated by our system. But there was one small thing, which is not 100% correct. If you live in the countryside, the ambulance will need longer than 5 minutes, I'll would guess it can take up to 30 minutes. Last I would say, if everybody here in Germany would enjoy and celebrate the good things we have, like you do, and don't concentrate on the problems they see, refugees for example, it would be even better. But sadly hater and idiots exist all over the world. If we all stand together, in our wealthy and safe (compared to many other Countries) country, it won't be a problem. And at very last, a happy new year to you.
@MillyOnyayeStyledbyMilly7 жыл бұрын
meise99 ooh, my bad! I never knew that an Ambulance takes that long to arrive in the village?? My jaw literally dropped while reading that part. Thanks for the correction. Germany is a really cool place to be in. The policies and the way things are done just blows my mind. Thank you so.much for watching😊😊
@turboseize7 жыл бұрын
Depending on Bundesland or Gemeinde, the intervention times vary (That is the timeframe during wich the overwhelming majority of emergency service sorties have reached their destination, usually 95%.) Berlin used to have a 7 minute limit (don't know if the still are that good or if the level of readiness has declined), in rural Brandenburg it is 14 or 15 minutes.
@Sados19677 жыл бұрын
30min would be against the law, by law the ambulance must arrive within maximum 20min (even countryside) in some states(Bundesländer) they have a 15min max time by law. just for your information

this was a very helpful video. My fiance and I intend to move to Germany in the next few years. One of the reasons we chose Germany was for the healthcare system and because I have a rare eye condition and there are surgeries that would be very beneficial to my eye condition that I can get in Germany that aren't available here in the US. So, I've been watching videos and reading everything I can about basic daily stuff about Germany to prepaid. And even though I've already learned so much I still learned a lot from you're video. :)

Milly Onyaye Thank you! :)
@voiceinthewilderness75967 жыл бұрын
@Nicolas Burton: Regarding your eye condition/doctors. While healthcare is free in Germany... well, kinda, it is tax-financed and wage-financed, and you hardly ever pay privatly there is a shadow side to the system. Apart from the Öffentliche Krankenkassen, that is the public sickness fonds that most of the people are part of, you can also opt out of this system and insure yourself privatly with, aptly named, private sickness fond. The part where that gets interesting is in regards to specialized health care which, given that you describe your eye condition as 'rare' you might need. With the specialists, and to a much lesser extent general practioneers, there is a two class system. If you are publicly insured you wait long for appointment (upwards of half a year if it is nothing life threatening) and will have problems getting follow-up appointments as close together as you'd like, while people who are privatly insured, which translates to better pay for the doctor, have much less problems with getting apointments and finally there are also specialists who have opted out of the system completly and work for 'Direktzahlung', which is basically direct payment out of pocket. So depending on how speecialised the health care you need is it might be hard to come by, not covered by insurance (certain procedures which are considered simply 'quality of life' are not covered or will only be covered after trials), etc. We do quite well, but not perfect. :)

I think though because it is a proper condition, it will be covered even by the basic model! That being said, privatized insurance has to be abolished. It´s a disgrace.

Wendy K hey wendy, i life quite close to Düsseldorf and some of my family and Friends life in Düsseldorf- lierenfeld, düsseldorf-flingern and in angermund 😊 I love it there, its mostly described as the "schickimickistadt" (town of rich people), but i dont think in this way. Düsseldorf has many nice international Restaurants (my favorite is the "okinii" japanese food and sushi) and Small beautiful Shops and they have lovely Festivals like a Japan day, night marathon or street food Festival(and so many more). every german i know Speaks some english, so don't be afraid, if you are open minded you will have a very good time (and this sounds maybe funny but the germans LOVES people from the uk and so do i). its always a good idea to check out the Düsseldorfer group in Facebook "Du bist Düsseldorfer, wenn" with 17.000 people in this group there will be a Lot of people answering your questions or give you some nice tipps🌞 greets from the niederrrhein (which is of course the most beautiful place in Germany) Johanna

I've visited Germany for the first time in 2009. I had an idea about what I thought Jeremy was going to be like. And I have to admit that when I arrived it was completely different. I was so excited to find you a video on KZbin about living in Bremen Germany. That was where I went when I visit Germany. I also visited Hamburg and the North Sea. I can't say I have any negative experiences at all. I enjoyed riding the bicycles and going to the supermarket and shopping and finding new and different Products of great quality. I hope you continue to make more videos, because I have often thought about going back. My problem is that I have a job/career and I am concerned about being able to find work there. I will definitely come back and visit but as far as living that The bigger challenge for sure. Tell me more about Germany and where you can go to learn more about finding work or transferring work experience to Germany.
@MillyOnyayeStyledbyMilly7 жыл бұрын
J Lewis I'm glad you had fun on your visit. As i said in one of my previous video, the language has to be the most challenging factor while looking for a job. The thing is that you need to be able to express yourself in German. I know of so many people who came to this country without any basic knowlegde of the language and they had to start feom scratch. Others have had to leave the career they had because the language barrier couldn't allow them to go on with the career. We all have been there you know. We have had to start from zero to make ends meet. But thats not the end of the world. One thing for sure that you have to know is that if you want to relocate here then you have to learn the language. Its not an Option but rather an Obligation. Thats why it's important to have an open mind while living here. Will do a video about that in the near future😊😊 You can make it! Don't give up on your dreams💪💪💪

Your spirit is wonderful! I don't live in Germany any more, but I grew up very close to Bremen. It's a great city. Maybe I'll look you up when I visit Germany next time.

Thanks for the statement. From germans with afrikan roots you hear many negative statements, like we are staring, we dont talk, ask stupid question, even questions like, where you from and why do you speak so well german they consider racism. (I hope I spell right). For my black friends in the US that is just a isulting joke. Personly they and also me never experianced racismin the US, but what you see in the news is horrible. Negative things what german blacks prescripe you will experience everywhere in this world when you look different than the mayority of people. I been in your home country in Kenya in Malindi on vacation. I had the same expeiance. There I met Maurice a kenyan animator of the hotel. We are friends now already for 18 years. He have been several times in germany and he likes the same 5 things like you. The bad experience he had, were the german "Bürokraten". He asked for an official order for imigration, and had best chances to get it aproved. The problem was time, time, time and once again time. The officials work so damn slow. So he orderd it in spain and it was approved within 3 month. So he moved there with his little family and opened up a little business with several employes. Even there he made some negative experiance with the poeple, but not different any other stranger in this world. So thanks again and I hope that many black germans will read your post. Greetings from Gerhard, Maurice, Stella and Brian. I had them just now on facebook and in Feb. I will go to see them in spain. Merry christmas.

Why should the healthcare system discriminate rich ppl? I mean, they can afford their health anyways... *confused

The health care system in Germany is not good, because it is as two class system. That must be changed.

There may be a lot to improve, but apparently, for a lot of people, it's a substantial improvement over what they have...

Without that health care how much do you think a asthma inhalator I need every day would cost me? Currently it cost me around 5 € and I need a new one every month so I pay 60 € for it for a whole year, without that health care system I would need to pay 10 or 20 times as much what would be in a worst case scenario 1200 € each year and I need it since 14 years (that would be 16800 € (with health care 840 € in 14 years) soooo I think alone for such little things the health care system in Germany is very very good and Im very very happy and thankful that we have such a system.

but please if you come to germany, respect our rules and keep everything clean!! some people from africa here don't respect this and also don't want to work because of the good social system here in Europe. native people here in germany don't like to get sponged. this is a big problem. people get very upset here because of the big problems of immigration crisis.

i understand what you mean and it sometimes annoy me too, as i do not understand why they do that. What i also noticed is that a lot of us are also hardworking, especially the educated ones.
@abcdefg76797 жыл бұрын
Lawrencce Bukola there are also lazy germans who dont want to work and just rely on government support. these persons are annoying for all hard working people. it's great that we have this kind of support in germany but some people just take a lot out of it without wanting to give something back. thats just not right, no matter if you' re german or from abroad
