The part that I don’t like is when nurses forget that we are there to assist and not do every little thing for them. A lot of the times nurses think that passing out meds is their only job. If that was the case then they are being overcompensated for their job. They should have become a med tech. One nurse came to me and told me to take a pt to the restroom after he had JUST came out of the room. He went behind the nursing station and started talking with others. A lot of the times they feel like they are too good to do that type of work which is sickening because- why are you even here?
@iizidlaury20232 жыл бұрын
See , this wouldn’t happen on our unit , my admin for our unit is really big on the nurses helping techs out all the time! Ofc sometimes you do have to do some things alone but for the most part, it’s teamwork! Changing is a 2 person job, turning is a 2 person job almost anything physical is to be done by two people! I enjoy this but when I worked at a nursing home I was miserable because I was by myself 🥴 thanks for watching and dont forget to sub for more 🎯

Let go in a retaliatory move by a manager, after 39 years, in the airline industry, I'm rather beat up and emotionally recovering. But my heart is to help people, and I can do chaos. My mother just had her pacemaker replaced last week and I thought, a nurses' assistant is something that I might feel there was purpose in. I have a sister-in-law who is a pediatric nurse. And I love kids. I've changed a lot of baby diapers, growing up, being the oldest daughter in a big family. Thank you for sharing your heart. It's encouraging.

love this content! starting cna school next week and i couldn’t be more excited. would you recommend first starting out in a nursing home and moving to a hospital so you have more of an appreciation for the hospital setting or would going straight into a hospital job and skipping the nursing home be a smarter route to take?
@iizidlaury20232 жыл бұрын
It really your decision , the nursing home would offer you a more laid back vibe , where you’d simply have to just keep the patients clean and you’ll learn simply patient care ( turning patients , cleaning patients , taking care of patients feeding needs , oral care etc! ) but the hospital will allow you to focus on a specific patient demographic similar to a RN , you’ll be able to take vitals learn other things like EKG & phlebotomy at some hospitals. Both I’m seeing now are understaffed but I started in a nursing home because that’s the first opportunity that arose , if you want to work in a hospital don’t fret , because you will get hired! Keep me updated bro 🎯

Hey thanks for the support and the Sub . School and work is not too bad I work 3x a week and typically spread it out well so I have a lot of time to study and attend class! I don’t have much of a life outside of the two but the other time I have I use it as self care (meditation , yoga , sleep 😂 ) I say do it , I know most programs want you to have CNA experience before entering & at last it wouldn’t hurt knowing the ins and out of the hospital setting! As for speciality I’m still on the fence about it. I work on an ICU Stepdown unit but I want to explore other specialities! As of right now I’m looking at working as a tech on the ER , or PEDS. I hated my job! The nurses wouldn't do a dam thing to help me. I had 26 pts in a orthopedic unit. Most of them elderly with hip or knee replacements. Turning and repositioning was brutal. I had 26 vitals to get right when I arrived. If I only had the vitals, it wouldn't have been so bad, but it was answering all of the call lights, taking them to the bathroom, and tracking the nurses down because of patients want to pain meds. Most nights it took me over an hour to get the vitals. Then turning, changing, sometimes complete bed changes, took all most two hours. I was small so, it took me at least 5 mins to do. Then I would have to document. I had a lot of pts who ever confused because of their age and the meds. They would be climbing out of bed all night. The nurses just sat there at the station. I hardly saw them all night. Then I had two nurses who were picking on how they wanted their pts. One wanted me karate chop in half. It was awful

@@iizidlaury2023 Lol! I was too timid back then. I would love to watch your video about this issue. It was hard, but if your heart is in it, it will be rewarding. I was in a union, I should have told the union rep. I just didn't want any problems. One time, the director of the unit, made a rule, that no CNA could sit down on their shift. We had to document, standing up. She thought it didn't look right for us to be sitting down when we had downtime. She even took all of the chairs out of the hallway so we couldn't. She allowed the nurses to sit, which wasn't right, so I told the union rep, and the next day, all of the chairs were back.

16:00 Awesome content!🎉 Much props to all of the male and female CNA, LVN / LPN, RNs out there. You’re appreciated! Question: I’m trying to figure out what are most affordable LVN / LPN (accredited) programs online. And what is the range of cost and time to complete the programs? I’m a black man, no kids, own my house & car w/ no mortgage & no car note. I already am FT in property management w/o college. I’m also only work weekends and sleep 3-4 hours. I’m pursuing a career in Travel TC ICU ER ENP. And I admit that I’ll need help. The route plan is: get my CNA, work in a hospital for 200 hours, get my LPN /LVN, work that in a hospital for 200 hours, then take a bridge course with dual ASN & BSN while studying for a specialty in ER. My studying ethics is close to Neo plugging in & learning kung fu, and Imma beast when it comes to test taking, so I want prep for my HESI, ATI, NCLEX right now while I save about $12,000-$15,000 for all of my tuitions, online books & certifications. My saving averages about $2K to $3K per month, so I should be test ready by the time I have the money. And whatever bread I make during my “clinicals” 400+ hours I will put towards my next tuition fee, which I believe is $23,000. I want to eventually post videos about my journey, because I haven’t seen anyone successfully pull this off. What do you think? Thank you! ❤

I would definitely recommend being a CNA before starting a RN program , a lot of times it’s actually required! But it’ll allow you to see the responsibilities of RN’s and you get to work beside them to see if it’s a fit for you. You do have options though, LPN is a good start but if you go straight for RN you’d be in a lot better of a situation and it’ll be easier to find a job at the hospital level. Then following that you can do RN - BSN program! But you will be fine just take the first step 🎯 good luck my friend

Got a question for ya man: Did you train in a school or a nursing facility? Both options are available near me, and I'm curious if facility based training is more hands-on vs theory. Thanks for the videos! Edit: Just found your other videos talking about it.
@iizidlaury2023 Жыл бұрын
Hey Robert , I trained in a school with in faculty clinical training but other than that we did skills in the school and it was pretty sufficient 🎯 some don’t even get to interact with a real person until after they are hired , which I disagree with, I hope this helps man 🎯

I had a friend that said the cleaning and poop isn’t the problem, she said the showering was harder lol
@iizidlaury2023 Жыл бұрын
Nah honestly none of it is the problem if you have a team down to help, when everyone works together it helps the entire floor 🎯 sometimes if the patient is big , showers are difficult but different floors/units bring different problems 🎯

I've been through the CNA course (a year ago). When you started working at the nursing home did you get like a week of training on how the facility likes things done, or did you get to shadow someone on your shift?
@iizidlaury2023 Жыл бұрын
Aye thanks for watching and welcome to the KZbin family , but I started off in an agency and was allowed about 3 shifts to “train” , I was really just doing everything with another CNA before I was put out on my own! Also in the hospital I received almost 4-5 shifts which was about 2 weeks 🎯 Do not go out on your own if you do not feel comfortable , voice this to them 🎯

CNAs are glorified caregivers with a certificate. Until you get your LPN or CMA youre just a caregiver with a certificate. Not bashing on that at all, its what i do. I spent 5 years in behavior support at a group home for I/DD patients. Now i work in memory care as a caregiver. The CNAs come in from agency and act like they are so much more experienced than we are lol. I have more medical experience than any CNA and i have no degrees or certificates. Maybe its different in a hospital but in memory care the CNAs act like theyre better than us lol.

Your video is so informative. I am a nursing student and I graduate this December. I got a job as an SNA (student nursing assistant). I was wondering if SNAs do the same job as CNA. I’m excited but anxious at the same time🥲
@iizidlaury20232 жыл бұрын
Wow sna? I’ve never heard of that before today! I do know that different states name it different things! I just googled it and it says student CNA’s are STNA’s which is reserved for Ohio and a few other states! From what I was reading online they hold the same responsibilities as a CNA. Don’t be anxious , you got this! It’ll only get better with time! Also thanks for supporting the channel 🎯
