If you are financing your car then you can write off the interest you are paying on the car as well. I do it every year. You log onto the website you make your payments to and go to payment history and you will see the interest you pay every month for the year before. It helps.

I did the same... was in Tech Software sales. I really enjoy driving for Uber and Lyft. I've been able to steadly make between $300 and $500 a day. Mostly $300. Uber Comfort and Lyft Lux are a great help in achieving my goals.

#1 TIP!!!! Do NOT accept worthless rides. Don't chase the titles of Gold, Platnium for the tiny little worthless perks. I only accept rides that are $20 or more and they have meet the criteria of not taking me off into no mans land where I wont get another ride and they have to at the very very least pay $1 a mile or more. I'll reject 10 rides to get that one.

Driving for Lyft I found that I made more money driving only when there were bonuses available. I also noticed I get fewer bonuses. I see this as a way for Lyft to let me go and I’m ok with that. Rating 5.0, 3 years and 3800 rides later.

I stop a few feet before arriving and slide arrived in the app. That way I can tell where they are going. If it is somewhere too far away, I can cancel the trip and drive off before they ever get in the car. It also stops them from being able to rate you. Hate to have to do all of this, but Uber could easily solve this stuff.

You’re right about the insurance thing. I remembered yeast back I told my insurance company that I would be delivering pizzas for a chain part time after requesting a declarations page. Because I didn’t have commercial insurance, my insurance company dropped me on the spot. I didn’t know any better at that time. I learned that commercial insurance was way too expensive and I guaranteed no delivery driver would pay that kind of money. As suggested by my boss at that time, I took a gamble and bought another policy and not mention anything commercial. This was before rideshare was introduced in my area.

If you contact Uber, you would be able to drive in Las Vegas and possibly get a trip back so don’t cancel sometimes you might get a double tip. You never know what you get and you never know who you’re gonna be blessing.

Getting deactivated for canceling is BS because I always accidentally accept a ride while I’m navigating the app. It just pops as in pressing on something else up and boom now it’s accepted. It shouldn’t do that.

I just started driving this week. mostly i am sticking to a time schedule as I work from home; so i do 3 days peak hrs in the AM and evenings, Saturday mornings and evening. great suggestion for on the mileage app. I curious to know if Uber apps has that feature for mileage. also a tip for those Amex card owners. I strictly only use the amex card for Uber for gas and water, snack bars for customers. this way I use the amex app for business expense tracking. I am considering using my Audi A4 for uber how will that work when adding to Uber ? do I have to remove my current vehicle?

I hate it when I get long rides when I don't want to do a long ride but then don't get them when I need them. I work in Temecula Wine Country but like to get rides to San Diego airport and then work San Diego but sometimes I get a request from Old Town Temecula to Newport Beach.

I drive Uber and Lift. For a comparison when I drive lift after 3.5 hrs with no surge events I made $58. When I drive Uber about the same time I made $89. Also Uber offer better bonus opportunities. One other tip is I typically don't take a ride that is more then 10mins from me. Also for long rides. I tell the rider I need $25 more in cash per hour I ride. This will cover the return cost.

Even when you are close to the airport or near air port on net you can tell when and how many flights are coming in. Regardless there are many other drivers waiting their turn to pick up passenger you would have to wait in that Queue to pick up riders. If you can find how many cabs are ahead of you in the queue than you can decide to wait or pass. KNOWLEDGE is power.

I think you would deduct the price of the rental plus, gas, insurance and any required incidentals. Since usually millage is unlimited in a rental you wouldn't' deduct millage.

Uber is a completely unprofessional and corrupt company to work with. At various times, I started noticing that I would arbitrarily stop getting trips even when the app said I was in a busy area, which made me lose a lot of income. I had my home city arbitrarily changed as to keep me from getting the bonuses for that city, and to make me lose income. And it takes 2 weeks to change your city back. I had my account turned off arbitrarily telling me that I needed a background check even though I’d had one last month. I had riders reporting me for things I’d never done. If all that excites you, Uber is the place for you to drive.

You cannot claim full miles with mileage apps. you can only claim mileage from the time you receive a trip from Uber or Lyft until you complete the trip. Any mileage you do while working rideshare is NOT tax deductible. For example: leaving your house to head to the area you are planning to work will not count. After dropping off a trip which lets say is 15 miles from your work area and you head back the 15 miles. Those miles are not tax deductible. IRS ONLY allows the mileage that is reported by Uber or Lyft.

That's same thing here in upstate NY. With people wanting to go into lower Westchester and NYC In lower Westchester and NYC you have to be a TLC credential driver. The fine outweighs the fare or vehicle impoundment Why would anyone get a luxury car for Uber and Lyft You passengers don't deserve to be chauffeured in luxury cars. A cheap beater is optimal like a Toyota Camry or Ford Fusion. Lyft and Ubers insurance sucks. Remember a beater don't depreciate

My strategy is to buy a 12 year old car and run it into the ground. I bought a 2010 Toyota sienna minivan for 7k which had 110k miles and I have driven it for 64k miles in 14 months and it is still running strong. Low depreciation because it is an old van and ultra low maintenance because it's a Toyota.

I have a money goal for each day and week. I don't work full time. I drive an EV, so no gas and Uber gives me bonuses for that. I try not to take anything under $1/mile (both ways). Though sometimes I'll take something close to that if I'm going for a Quest (number of rides in a number of days. I get Uber's insurance and Progressive knows I drive Uber. I have a dash cam but haven't had any really bad passengers in the 2 years I've been driving. My acceptance rate sucks so I'll never get Diamond or Gold status. I'm not trying to let Uber take advantage of me by offering crap fares. Uber has gotten very stingy of late. Less Boosts, lower Quest rewards (or no Quests at all) and fares that can be lower than $.50/miles.
