Please wear the proper PPE! When my face is not in the shots I am always wearing proper PPE. I do things differently on camera and may not have a mask on for the sake of shooting. Please be safe! :)

Hey Kiki, instead of harsh chemicals, I found that “Purple Power” and “Mean Green” from Walmart, work great to break down resin. I would still wear gloves. I have a 5 gallon pail, pop the print off the flex plate, spray both purple power and mean green on the flex plate and your print. Add hot water and rinse. Then I spray IPA and let it air dry.

Thanks for the tip! I have used mean green, but i dont think i tried the purple power one, so i appreciate it!😁

Great video. I held off buying a printer because of the resin smell and clean up problems. Until now, I bought the printer, wash station and a large bottle of the elegoo water washable resin in clear red. I print in my basement workshop and there is no odor detectable anywhere in the house. The cure station works flawlessly and I just set the wash tank in the sun whenever it starts to get dirty. then I re-use the water with just a splash of detergent to help keep everything clean.

The water washable resin was one of the main reasons I finally decided to get an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro (I don't like much the IPA odor) It is so easy to clean, but yes, it is soft. For cosplay I think it is ok, though.

@@KannonStudiosOfficial 😊🖖 And remember! Don't throw the water off the drain. Be sure to cure the water with UV (the Sun is great) and then filter it. You can reuse it.

I just hate how tedious it is. FDM printing you just slice the file, print it, congrats you did it. Resin there's so much pre-prep, post-prep, processing, more processing, cleanup, just ugh. I mean yeah, you can get unmatched detail, and for functional prints you can make stuff stronger than any FDM filament could dream of, but it's just so much.

There are resins that will not cure-inhibit platinum-cure silicones, so you don't have to clear-coat your pieces or use tin-cure silicone, which is not safe fo food or skin contact.

6:35, can you define "too long" for first-time resin printer users? Not enough time, and the resin won't be fully cured. Too much time, and well you already know about that. Is there a good rule-of-thumb you've learned for cure time? Is it dependent at all on the model size (quantity of resin)?
@KannonStudiosOfficial

I only really worry about translucent resin being cured too long for the amber discoloration effect it causes. I let the translucent resin sit in the sun sometimes and it doesn't create this affect however it does cure slower this way. Or I just put it in the UV light for just a few seconds at a time and check on it. It doesn't take long to cure my small gems.

The water curing is sopposed to help keep the resin cool while it cures so it helps prevent prints from yellowing when they cure.

I am soon to buy an Elegoo Saturn 2 8K printer and ancillaries (including a 3D scanner) so I find all these videos by yourself and others, really quite useful. As a long time modeller (of aircraft generally) I am quite familiar with the hazards of resin castings, including cutting and sanding and one tip I feel able to pass on is to ALWAYS wet -sand the resin casting if needed, and to use water to lubricate when cutting resin with a motor tool or Razor saw. This cuts out close to or all of 100% of the dust/particles generated by the operation and can be safely discarded by letting the water evaporate then disposing of the remainder in a baggie. Also, as a modeller, I do keep some IPA handy as it is useful to clean the model when preparing to paint it. (I use Lacquers and enamels for the painting as I was raised as a modeller using them waaay back when! Plus I find the different Acrylic paint brands simply vary too much in both quality and spray characteristics (I use an Airbrush for that) so only buy any acrylic paint if I really need that particular color or finish. Lacquers (Mr Color, Tamiya lacquers) all spray beautifully in comparison as does my go-to Enamel paint - Humbrol. (Which I also thin with Lacquer thinners.) Thank you for putting these videos up for us older folks!

@@KannonStudiosOfficial I bought a Flex plate for the Saturn so I am not risking damaging to the cast aluminium surface of the build plate. (Steel scraper + Cast Aluminium = Accidental gouges and scratches just waiting to happen). Makes a big difference to the successful prints - BUT you absolutely MUST follow the flexplate installation instructions to the letter!!
