As a fashion graduate myself and currently working in the industry (from India) I can say that it is all TRUE 100% great tips, if anyone here is going to pursue fashion as a career do yourself a favor and DO INTERNSHIPS they definitely help you a lot and try to do computer related courses as well and sewing courses if you need it.... In the institution I graduated I needed an additional course to help me but thankfully I was already a sewist when I started but all of my friends were struggling cause they had no prior experience with the machine and they don't know the basics

@@garimagupta646 Nift , nid are the best fashion schools specially in Mumbai or Delhi These are govt. Owned u can try Pearls , soft or something private owned as well The exams are in jan mostly Sunday so u won't miss ur 12 boards u gotta do lots of research 4 this nift thing. Hope it helps

I studied at FIT and Parsons and it was very, very rewarding. Connections, internships and informational interviews are helpful. I've done a few internships and found it to be invaluable experience.

hello i am curious because I am currently in fine arts major at pratt but I really want to change my major to fashion design but I had to start all over but I am having second thoughts because I’m wondering if the grad school at parsons would help people learn like the same way as undergrad does? @@TheodoraE FIT is a great college; you learn from the best. Take Fashion Design for undergrad. Parsons is much more expensive than FIT. FIT has a graduate program in Fashion Design which has a high rating

I'm so so interested in studying fashion, it's a world that seems so fascinating to me; but I am scared because now I'm studying something that has nothing to do with it (tourism and hotel management) and I honestly don't know how to relate them. I mean it's not possible. I still want to get my degree, but I feel like I'm not gonna use it as it's not what I'm passionate about, I don't feel like that. I feel like I need to study fashion and get inside that world. That's what I feel such a big attraction towards. But if I do it I'll be like 23 years old (I'm 21 now) and I know I'm young but I'd feel overwhelmed because many people will be younger. However, your video has inspired me to keep going, and pursue my dream to study what I really want. I guess we'll see how it goes.

"CAD" is software It stands for Computer Aided Design and usually refers to drafting software packages like Fusion 360, AutoCAD or ProE. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are two key bits of Software used for renderings and flats.

Trust me... If you are introvert..you gonna struggle in this field sm. Like I literally had so much trouble in that... Like it will be really good enough for you until you make the garments and the basic stuffs like sketching and designing... And after that once you have to make progress of shoots, style up, get ready for the show... You gotta be needing so many people under you for your work to explore till the end of the process and shows so it's really important to know people as much as you can like especially photographers, make up team, styling team, assistants...

@@TheodoraE Well i go to a high school but like my education system is different than in america or other countries. I basically have high school + college together. I graduate 9th grade and then i go to 10th - 12th grade + major. And i get monthly scholarship depending on my grades/marks but i don’t need to pay for the school. Basically i am in highschool + major. So then i can graduate and get a diploma that i have graduated high school and graduated my major which is fashion design. In this system it is easier to get into universities or colleges.

I design and create gowns like ball gowns wedding dresses just anything formal at the age of 14 and I wouldn’t know the struggles with the collage studying but most of the other things are true

this is a late reply, but as an adult who was also very young when I took an interest in fashion, I say please start as early as possible! Grab a sewing machine and get to practicing. I promise that in 5 years you'll be climbing your way to the top.

I'm currently in a online program through Parsons (I'm a freshman in HS) and I love it but I worry I'm not good enough to get into any of the schools I want because I just started learning how to sew and design and I'm a bit behind even now in my class and now I'm panicking even though I have time to get better 😭

Would you say pen sketching (via tablets or 2in1 laptops) is more comfortable than mouse sketching (via laptop)? I'm a soon to be a fashion designer student but Im also studying media and communication so Im into editing too. From all the research I've done, Apple products are preferred for design(they appear to be much more superior in graphics and functionality) but why do i feel like touch screen and pen would be easier? I'd be so glad if you'd take the time and share your opinion /advice with me! Have a nice day :) *If I buy a mac will I probably need to buy a tablet too for a more comfortable and appropriate sketching? *

Hi! So I transferred from a community college to a 4 year university and my credits say as a sophomore and I have never had experience in fashion and I had only seen a few times as a teenager and I feel so overwhelmed and unsure if this is the career I want to go into and the courses I am taking are fast paced while I am someone who learns at a slower pace plus I have had 4 all nighters in the course of 2 months and I had never had all nighters up until now. I want to know how do I manage my assignments so I can have time to do things for myself and better my mental health and not have so many sleepless nights most of time?

This is the issue .... it is expensive Depending on where you go and whether or not it's a program versus an accredited college I've seen a lot of crazy expensive programs that were offered at for profits but Usually a college that offers a degree is not that expensive

I believe it depends on what level you would like to be at as a fashion designer! Normally designers design and don’t tend to make the clothes but it all depends on the circumstances!

It all depends on which school you choose to attend, every program is different! Some schools might want certain criteria’s for a project and then other projects you would be the one making all the decisions from start to finish. Hope this helps 💖

I believe you need math as a pre requirement only grade 11 (but it all depends on which school you want to attend) every school has its own requirements. Which I could be more helpful! 💖
