I'm in my late 30s and have not done kegels, I know I should have after having kids but I'm going to add it to my goals list. So often we forget that what we may consider a "minor inconvenience" now may end up being a major issue as we age. Been loving your videos!

I still just can’t get over changes in my midsection with menopause. It makes me feel so awful. All my HRT, my exercising, my diet-none of it erases that darkness.

I had to have a discectomy and fusion in my cervical spine when I was 29 thanks to getting rear-ended twice in 14 months (thanks, Seattle traffic!). The only upside is that I discovered in my 30s how important stretching and strengthening (not just “vanity” muscles, but the entire body!) is. My true workout love is running, and this has only reinforced to me how important cross-training and stretching are to avoid injury and improve performance. Not the best way to learn, but you gotta look for the silver lining in a less-than-ideal situation. 😊
@MamaTenny2 жыл бұрын
Omg, what a story and so inspiring that you didn’t allow your injuries to define your life!! Love appreciating the silver lining instead of dwelling on what we can’t change. All the best to you 🙌🏼❤️

Take a look at my Grand baby girl. All day long she does full squats. With and without weights. She stands on her head, she balances to kiss her sister’s head. Because, for her, movement is fun. I sure wish I had kept movement fun, a natural part of life. But I’m getting better at a full squat. Slowly. And, the best advice I have is stop sitting. If you can stand, stand. Sweep and mop your floors. Hang your laundry to dry. Wash your dishes by hand. And, yes, work at your pelvic floor muscles both morning and night! By doctor tried to tell me 23 years ago, and, had I listened, toting my grand babies would mean I wouldn’t have to worry what that weakness might allow. Thank you again for all the helpful advice!

You really do inspire!! Such great advice. This lil ducky joined a gym yesterday ❣️ who am I !!! Learning form and learning to lift. I'm really interested in bodybuilding without the competitive side. 50 and fabulous. This is my life now !!! I love it. I've been doing squats for a couple of years now.. not so much for the booty, more to help with my hiking and the elevation.. I shall keep you informed of my strength training shenanigans. Pelvic floor muscles are key !!! Oh yes. We've all had that scary sneeze lol 😃 Appreciate you so much xx

Yesss, 100% stretch!!! Every morning and throughout the day. I've noticed my hamstring is starting to tighten as I sit at my desk for prolonged periods of time working, and then when I go to run I get shin splints so I have to stretch my hammy and calves. I also invested in an under the desk bike (deskcycle 2.0) which has helped keep me active during work hours.
@MamaTenny2 жыл бұрын
Great, I suppose that once you get stretching you really notice when your muscles are tight. Interesting about the deskcycle too! I haven’t seen that. 😘

I have been moving and now catching up on past videos. Great video, Mama Tenny! The points you made are all so valid. I am grateful that KZbin pushed yoga videos to my feed over a year ago which jump started my yoga journey; yoga really helps with all the things you talked about 😁. I have poor upper body strength too, but doing chaturangas have helped me with push ups so much! I am still not great and doing pull ups is not anywhere near in my future either, but I have progessed a lot from pre yoga and much more so than lifting weights.

What a great idea for a video! I feel like such the odd one out but the whole big butt thing.... I don't understand it. The advice in this is so important for people to listen to, exercise and certain movements/stretches are so beneficial and underrated. My Nana makes sure to go for a walk daily, even if it's just short. I can't stress enough (LoL, no pun intended! 😂), how important meditation is. I was a chronic stressor for years and found meditation was extremely helpful and necessary. If I don't get to meditate once a day, I really notice such a difference and it's not worth not doing it anymore. Awesome video 😊❤️
@MamaTenny2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rachel!! I am going to make an effort on the meditation front. Victoria is a huge believer in the benefits as well. I’ve just got to get over that feeling that I’m doing nothing!😂❤️

@@MamaTenny ohh it is SO hard in the beginning! I struggled with that too but it's worth it. Just ask Victoria 😊 Also, if you find that your mind keeps wandering while you are doing it, don't worry, that's perfectly normal and doesn't mean you aren't doing it right or that you can't do it. 💕

What stretches and exercises would you recommend for someone in my situation?

Yes, I believe your form of exercise is wonderful. But practicing yoga regularly is really good especially as we age. It has it all. Strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and peaceful meditation through breathing. You have to practice it almost every day though, for many years.
@MamaTenny Жыл бұрын
Do you know I used to do hit yoga 4-5 times a week and I really loved it but then the studio close to me started jamming SO many people in you could barely move (or breathe). Do you go to a studio or practice at home?
@jgriffin282 Жыл бұрын
I go to a women’s only gym. Yoga and Pilates are part of their included classes. I prefer a class to doing it on my own. They’re 60 minute classes and when I do it at home on my own, I do maybe 30/40 minutes. The room holds about 20 and maybe 10 to 15 show up. I am really loving your videos. Yo are motivating and inspiring. 😮
