The Biggest thing that annoyed me was when rentals would see that I have a lot of paint (at to them), and ask if they could borrow some repeatedly. I don't have a problem with it if it is a one-time thing and its a little. But these kids were asking for full 160 round pods and anyone that has balled on a budget, every ball counts. It is my BIGGEST annoyance

OK, that was going to be my question,.... I've only got a CO2 Paintball pistol for plinking, as I'm into airguns, but I have paitballed before, and fancy taking it up, hence I'm watching lots of instructional videos, ... anyway, back to the point, with airguns, it's a bad idea to put oil down into the piston, as you get 'dieselling', and the oil igniting when the pressure increases. This can be bad for several reasons, largely dirt, but also, (I'm in the UK) it can push your rifle over the legal power limit, but practically, it's not consistent, so makes your rifle less accurate. This can happen in paintball markers too?
@Stoned_Sparky

I know it's bad and we shouldn't do it but I wanna see one go off from oil in the tank just to show new players
@chasleichner5895
@chasleichner5895 4 жыл бұрын
@@engineeredlifeform This is an issue with the high-pressure air tanks rather than the markers themselves. Paintball markers by and large don't work like piston-based airguns. The pressure is highest in the tank (4500 psi, 310 bar) and then continuously decreases as it moves through the marker until it reaches the backside of the ball at 50-125 psi and then expands to atmospheric pressure as the ball leaves the barrel. The difference in operating principle doesn't remove the danger though, just relocates it and makes it much more severe. Since the pressure is so high in the tank, the concentration of oxygen is much higher than in the normal atmosphere (14.7 psi, 1 bar). That means that things which would normally not burn well, such as lubricating oil, will burn very well and very fast. The tanks heat up when filled quickly which could ignite the oil and cause the air tank to explode. If you are holding the air tank or standing near it when it explodes it could severely injure or kill you. There are pictures and discussion of an incident on PBN: www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=2325446

Regarding your third point, your experience is greater than mine. But in the real steel world they discuss if leaving magazines loaded with rounds is bad for the springs in your magazines. The conclusion I've seen from my research is that, magazines don't wear out from having a spring compressed for a long period of time. Rather, constant actuation of the spring is what fatigues it. That said, I wouldn't take the chance. I actually remove the bolt and striker from my 468 between weekends of play.
@ObtuseOcelot
@ObtuseOcelot 4 жыл бұрын
Idk about that. I been to some training seminars about shooting and if you keep a magazine compressed in real steel mags, the magazine spring WILL lose some of it's spring. Due to memory shape in metal itll take awhile but it is possible to lose come of the spring. Pistol mags especially.
@Crlarl
@Crlarl 4 жыл бұрын
@@ObtuseOcelot That only happens if the shooting material has the ability to creep (AKA "cold flow"). Steel creeps very little or not at all. If the springs were made properly, stored at or around room temperature and haven't yielded, they should be fine either relaxed or loaded. However, I imagine that paintball equipment isn't usually made to the same standards as firearms, so your mileage may vary.
@nickschroeder8980
@nickschroeder8980 4 жыл бұрын
Gun springs and paintball springs are held to different standards. Most modern firearms are made with a "Duty" mentality if you will, and are are held to a high standard of quality so springs don't wear out like this. In paintball there is no such thing as a "Duty" gun or mentality so the springs are just made to be "good enough" and will wear out over time.

I’ve been playing paintball for 25 years, long before on/off valves on ASAs were even a thing, and I still regularly use basic ASAs. I’ve chewed up plenty of o-rings while unscrewing tanks from pressurized guns, but never once have I ever destroyed or worn down the threads on a tank or ASA. Is this a new paintball myth?
@Solmangrundy

I've had the opposite happen. The bottle unscrewed and destroyed my reg to bottle threads lol. Asa threads was still fine though. On/off asa just makes the whole process easier and safer. I've never had my bottles unscrew on my with a on/off asa since it just spins off easy.

Actually, leaving spring steel compressed doesn't weakin the spring. Springs weaken from use, not being in a constant state. Compressed or not, doesnt really matter. This is a big debate in the firearms community in regards to magazine springs.

My Tips to Survive as Newbie/Things Not to Do 1.) *BEFORE* you even get on the field, practice the motion of reloading and replacing your pod back in your waist/pod/ammo holder. Almost every game I've ever played, I just have to hunker down and wait until I see a newbie do the tell tale "oh shit I'm out of ammo" crouch and fumble with their pod. Then I casually jog past and blast them while they try to reload. Learn to reload quickly while moving! 2.) Bad Communication: The best teams in the world are the ones that talk to each other throughout the entire game. How many enemies down, where the rest are, where they're moving to, when they're moving, etc. Most new players just hide and don't talk to anyone and wind up getting plastered to hell and back being the last man standing. 3.) Movement is Life: In games I play where it's team deathmatch and there's an abundance of new players, I'll usually be able to (if I'm lucky) pull of a quad kill or higher because the noobs are huddled together behind the largest piece of cover in the back of the map. Paintball is very similar to chess in that moving pieces/players strategically generally proves successful. 4.) The Buddy System: unless it's a speed ball course, traveling with at least one partner to have your back is highly advantageous. You never know when you'll walk into an enemy squad 10 people deep and need to quick retreat. Suppressing and moving is life out there and being unable to pin down an enemy for your team to advance will just result in a stalemate until someone else comes along. 5.) (I know this will get hate, but whatever) *Keep shooting until they call their out* I used to be the player who would, out of the kindness of my heart shoot once and assume everyone would raise their gun and walk off like a responsible player. Years later, I've changed after seeing the better part of a few hundred players either wipe off the single paint ball or just run off to another part of the field and not call their out. Overshooting be damned, until the gun is raised keep on firing on the opposing player until they leave the field; it'll allow everyone to realize you're not the type of person who will quit until they're eliminated and call their outs sooner.

I don't use paper on mirrored dual lenses why I wash them off, paint and water finds themselves in the cracks and dissolves the glue and foams in between. After 2 years the sandwich is starting to peel off, i'll change it immediately when fogging becomes an issue. I lube before each game and wipe of after the games. In winter time I do the opposite. Store lubed and wipe off while playing, grease "freezes".

Re : Single pane lenses, unless you have multiple spares for double glazed, learn how to play with single pane too, then you can afford to keep more spares and stay in the game. The best quick n easy between game anti fog for single pane is washing up liquid in water at the right mix to suit your climate. It also works fine on multi pane, but less need to drench the inner surface. Always carry a Litre spray head bottle of this. [Also great if all you have to squegee/swab your barrel with a quick turn around till you can get back in] If you're playing with single pane lens, ALWAYS drench inside before you go out, let it coat the inside and DO NOT wipe off [if you over do it, then wipe and redo, you should get a good vision field even if you sweat like a rapist. Calotherm is ideal, but pricey AF. I'm 12 years a Tourney Ultimate. And 12 Years at Semi Pro Play, mostly Woodland, League and Scenario. You don't have to take any of my advice, but I WILL take the piss if you don't and come off the field second. The best way to improve your game play is do some Marshalling or Judging. The second best way to improve your game is by Kit you can, but they can't afford. The third best way to improve your game is to KNOW the specific Tourney rules [see 'best way']. I've seen too many excellent players penalised out due to their team mates not knowing the Tourney specific rules. Fourthly ... It's as important to count the opposition onto the field [Low count, advise you very discreetly tell a Marshal you counted, they can't confirm after a certain point but . I have a memorable game from the 'bad' end, where, because one of us had counted them on short, there could not be one hidden to contend with at end game with seconds to go. KNOWING made the win. But how many teams do the count 100% ? One day, such attention to detail will land you a game you had doubts over, which, if you lost only to find they were a man short, is like kicking in your own teeth. Always, always, always ... Cover the basics before 'Game On'. Happy final bit now, I once kept 8 from 10 man at bay for a draw, even though for the last 8 minutes of 10, I had NO AMMO left. Not one of them identified the sound of no ammo, I played totally like I was packing a full set of pots and even had a one way LOUDLY with a team mate who I didn't have, telling him how if he sat tight we'd slaughter any coming down our gulley. I'm LOUD when I choose ... nobody came down our gulley and I defended the massacre into a draw for around 5 mins with NO AMMO. Their biggest failure was communication, with which I'd have been quickly tested and then had to walk.

I have always loved you content but I tried to guess your first tip on this video- like what would it be- And- yeah masks! and I dont take credit for it- it is honestly because I was at the pro shop for my first day at the feild- and I am not a huge player... but the sales guy is telling me about this sweet deal on the dual pane lense for this great mask and I am like yeah aight... I am sure I need all this crap- then the guy in full on cammo with the aux tank and side arm says- "dude honestly he is not BSing you the last thing you want is a bad mask- the better lenses fog up less and getting both the clear and tinted give you options depending on the time of day- its your money but before you even consider anything else I would focus on the mask" and that was coming from the guy who looked like he came out of ghost-busters- at that point I was like, well clearly if he went all in on that stuff and he it telling me the MASK is where I should be making my investments there has to be something to this- Best decision ever. I still have baseline Spyder marker with an upgraded barrel- The mask is my favorite thing :) I love everything about this channel and still want to get more into it and go all in

Noobie question coming up..... Does the term Marker = gun? And how long has this been in vouge I first played paint ball 17 years ago and the paintball gun was not called the Marker......... anyone.. anyone?
@abalrog42
@abalrog42 4 жыл бұрын
The term marker comes from the routes of how the sport of paintball got off the ground. Originally, "markers" were designed with no accuracy or high performance in mind because they were used to mark cattle with paint. The farmers realized they were a lot more fun to shoot at each other and VIOLA! The term marker and gun are basically one and the same in the grand scheme of paintball, but if you want to be historically correct, it should be called a marker.

5 don'ts for caring for your gear. 1. Don't neglect your tank regulators. They have orings and moving parts as well you should service them by cleaning and relubing once a year. 2. Don't neglect you marker regs those should be service about every 6 months. 3. Don't let forget to clean anything your paint touches. Pods, your marker breach, barrels, inside of your loader, and paint caddy/pod caddy/ball hualer whatever you call it if you have one. 4. Don't leave paint in packed pods. It will dimple the paint and render it borderline useless 5. Don't leave your paint in an area that isn't temperature controlled, a shed/garage/trunk of your car/attic or so on. Keep it in a closet or the like.

Something I always see noobs doing is messing with their tank because it's leaking normally due to the fact that the tanks o-ring is no good because they like to take they're tanks on and off an aren't careful. I think that it's a necessity if you're just starting or have you even been playing for a while you should always carry a spare O-ring set for your tank.

''why would he pull the trigger in a safe zone'' Is it his own Marker ? I fixed Markers from Stirlings, through Tippmans, through Phantoms, through to Mags and Cockers. How YOU like your trigger is important. My question is, was his marker bunged or bagged ? [In a 'safe zone']. Any non beginner letting one off in the safe areas is self inflicting humiliation. Barrel bungs would not exist if players were perfect. As an Ultimate, I've had to pull plenty of arm bands from those who eliminated themselves in play, I've also had to Site expel players for some shocking Marker safety violations too.

While I agree with not leaving markers cocked or magazines wound up I don't agree with the reasoning. Springs don't just magically lose their "springyness" over time, you need lots of heat and stress as well. I think it's more of a case of bad vs good practice. If you leave you magazine wound for months at a time, then there is a likeliness that you're going to come back after 6 months forget that you've already wound your magazine try to wind it and damage it. If you leave your marker cocked it's likely that you've also left paint in it and possibly the air tank on as well, making it more likely that when you pull it out you're going to forget that it's loaded and accidentally shoot someone. It's just better practice to de-energize your equipment for storage. (With the exception of your air tank: always leave air in there so the seals remain shut and moisture can't get in.)

I would say... Getting into paintball is 1 of the best known sports you and your whole family can enjoy! including your buddies. But if you're actually getting serious about it ? G0 the extra mile purchasing Good equipment, Good paintballs etc. Like at least spend a few extra dollars more getting a Good marker. Spend a few bucks more buying better paintballs, research; take your time, do your homework. Because there's nothing worse than being out in the field for the first time, and all your gear isnt up to par, or starts falling apart. That's a big reason why a lot of young people decide to just throw in the towel early on in this sport. You wanna have a really great time and awesome experience? Before you buy... research, ask questions, making wise decisions will enhance your game and you will Not be disappointed.
