In my country Indonesia you can bargain only in traditional market and some of mall is allowed you to bargain but not in mini market or big mall. They have fix price.

I remember my dad pounding into my head how important it was (as an American male) to have a firm handshake & good eye contact. He made it sound like you weren't a man if you didn't do so

It’s really great to know more American cultures along with learning new phrases! They’re so different from Taiwan

Learn English with Cloud English 5. We don’t often shake hand 🤝 4. We also think it’s polite to make eye contact 👁 3. We usually ask others’ opinions 2. We often haggle for discounts, especially in tourist spots or night market’s stands 1. We don’t tip

There is only 1 American culture. If you think otherwise, you have lost the message, and should never come here.

A handshake is very important. If you happen to give a dead fish, you have all the right to say "may I shake your hand again" (stick your hand out first) provided by a real handshake. Do NOT EVER leave a dead fish handshake. Ask/demand a new handshake, like I said above.

You mean United States. America is a continent.
@CloudEnglish2 жыл бұрын
Actually, America is not a continent. North America is one. South American is one. 'America' is the simple proper noun given to 'The United States of America' for a number of reasons, one of which being the requirement for an adjective.
@diane51402 жыл бұрын
@@CloudEnglish Why not call the United States of America by its name? The USA, the States etc. It's strange and sounds arrogant to hear it called America.
@cloudenglishlessons2 жыл бұрын
@@diane5140 Force of habit. Also, if you were to travel the planet and as people 'what is that country there on the map?' - 'America' would be the primary answer, way more than 'The USA' or 'The States'. As a teacher, I use the name I know most people will recognize, because I know that many people, believe it or not, don't recognize the other two.
@diane51402 жыл бұрын
@@cloudenglishlessons Really? I live amongst an expat community in Rome and have previously lived in other large cities such as in Moscow and in Montreal and I rarely hear it being called American apart from by Americans themselves. Anyway, to each their own!
