Changes I hope to see in "XR 21": 1. Stainless steel frame; newest generation of Corning gorilla glass for front 2. Standard 128 GB/6 GB RAM for all variants, dedicated slot for Micro SD. So we can slot in two SIM cards and micro SD at the same time 3. HDR 10 and PureDisplay 4. 64 MP sensor for the main camera, and add AF for the ultra wide camera 5. 16 MP selfie camera with AF and HDR should give better experience than current 8 MP 6. Bothie camera for photo and video, dedicated camera button. These features should be standard across all the X series 7. 6000 mAh battery capacity 8. Better chipset than SD 480 (prefer SD 695 to prevent skyrocket price) The rest just maintain as XR20

As an XR20 owner since December, I can agree on most points, especially the size. Personally, I've got used to it, but it's definitely something to consider for the XR21(30?). Also agree on the uselessness of the Google assistant button, but I guess that's something we just have to live with. Coming from the 9PV I was slightly worried about performance and screen quality, but to be honest, that really hasn't been an issue. Completely agree with all your suggestions. The Nokia XR20 is the first phone I've used for longer than 2 weeks so far without a case and not a single scratch. For me, all Nokia needed to do was either put a faster processor or spend a little more time optimising the experience. Reminds me of an LG experience, where even a very capable processor feels janky due to poor optimisation.

The biggest weakness it has it its price. In the US market where HMD is focused on, the XR20 is competing with Google's flagship Pixel line and some older iPhones. People just aren't willing to pay a premium for Nokia phones anymore, especially not after how they treated Nokia 9 users. They might be able to snag some market share from Moto/LG though, the XR20 is a fairly decent phone on its own.

I just love this device and will still purchase it this year, at least if I manage to gather enough money it is :-), but should I be in the position to make a sequel to this phone I would definitely go for an Amoled display with at least 90Hz refresh rate, a little bit more powerful and thus more future proof CPU/GPU combo and indeed a slightly smaller screen such as a 6.2 to max 6.4 inch display. Not being a camera savvy person, I would not necessarily apply improvements to the camera section but OIS for recording purpose would definitely be one of the improvements I would ask. However I'm perfectly satisfied with the performance in any domain of my X20 and it is an almost identical twin to the XR20.

I'm considering this phone as it hits a lot of marks of what I want in a smartphone. Personally some things I can live without (High refresh rate and 4K recording, never cared for or needed it) but fully agreed with the smaller size. Something around the size of the Pixel 5 is almost perfect for anyone. What I'd change is swap the placement of the Google Assistant button and the custom button. (Or eliminate the Google Assistant one and just use one button that's fully customizable) While I don't need 4K recording, the lack of image stabilization is kinda bad. Even Motorola has this for their lower end phones. (And in their Stylus 5G phone which has the same processor and ram as the XR20)

1. Flagship Snapdragon/SoC - so it will be capable of anything 4K or 8k Video Recordings and Performance. 2. 6 to 6.2 OLED Screen 3. Adaptive Refresh Rate 4. 30+ Watts Charger Only 4, we now have a Flagship Nokia XR20.. Logic: If you want an expensive Phone, why not make a Flagship Level device? This device could be a unique Flagship if HMD use Flagship SoC with latest Tech Trend like Higher Refresh rate and OLED Screen.. Most of Flagship device tend to be Fragile despite having an IP68 Ratings or Gorilla Glass Victus cover.. a Unique Rugged Flagship can put Nokia (maybe) on the radar again.. It's a straight forward Flagship that's actually last. They can actually make Nokia XR21 as Flagship and Nokia XR21 Lite as Upper Mid with almost the same specs except for a midtier SoC One thing, i hope Nokia/HMD adopt USB C to USB C Charger for more future proof experience.

@@AbdullaZaki I've had to have my iPhone 12 Pro replaced multiple times because I used a mount on a motorcycle and the vibrations ruined the OIS in the phone, I'm glad the XR20 doesn't have OIS as I don't need to worry about it breaking, for me the XR20 is good because it lacks features that would drain the phones battery or bloat the experience... The slower processor, slower refresh rate and lack of some hardware features all contribute to a longer battery life and more reliability. I bought the XR20 as a second phone for work (I work as a courier and drop my phone at least once a day and also need work in the rain) and for taking on adventures so I wouldn't have to worry about it being damaged or running out of battery, for me I just want a rugged second phone that's going to be reliable for the next few years without all the bells and whistles and the XR20 hits the mark perfectly. Also I find that the size of the phone is great especially for navigation in a car mount and provides lots of screen real estate for the apps I use. The feature that sold the phone for me (apart from its ruggedness, reliability and battery life) is the programmable emergency button that I can set to turn the flashlight on and off along with wireless charging. Nokia have a winner with this phone and I'm hoping they continue the XR rugged product line

I am writing this on my Nokia XR20 so that's cool yeah? So what I think. The size and weight was a surprise as it's not that big or heavy. I was expecting a tank and it's just a bit bigger is all. But I am happy with weight and size. No issues from me. The screen is ok and can be bright and colourful. Again it fine by me and better than my Moto G 5G plus. Not happy with the speakers as although noisy them very vibey and tinny. Headphones or Bluetooth speaker please. They are usuable but not much. Camera not tested really yet but the volume buttons act as shutter buttons. Nice. Got my emergency button for torch and turn on camera. So nice. In day to day performance against my Moto G 5G Plus it's pretty much even. Not seen any real performance advantage and the Moto has a 765 chip over the 480. Not had it long enough to test the battery but it's better than my Nokia 7.2 which is not a high bar. I was very close to buying the Moto Edge 20 plus. Very close. But the extra money, poor updates and the XR ruggedness won me over. I am willing to trade the last 10% of capability for the ruggedness and updates of the XR20. The Speakers annoy me already but if I put them at a relatively lower volume then it's just about ok. The screen judders when scrolling and it's not smoooth. So again no big deal. If this was a new phone then I probably wouldn't be happy with it against what I could have bought. But again the ruggedness and the updates and the longevity make up for any minor annoyance or weakness.

It would have been great if the size was Below 6 inch

The most imp upgrade needed i would say is to upgrade it's Snapdragon 480 chipset how much ever you justify it's not good for today's mobile and also in future when OS upgrade comes it will slow down the phone. If they do this upgrade then it will be a game changer.

Sure not convinced , it should have some amendments to be a value for money mobile , mainly the issues you mentioned had to be added to the phone 😊🌹

Why Nokia xr20 do not have many features like Samsung or MI
@mintomacco3 жыл бұрын
They should have just released it for half the price. Thats my only complaint. If you wish for a different soc, different camera, different size, different display, its not exactly 'optimizing', you just wish for a completely different device. Just a rugged one with a nokia branding.

Sounds like you just want the X10? :) My changes are more like a wishlist for a future XR21

You'll love the Benco V80 then. No cameras at all lol. Or just get one of those older phones with a mechanized pop-up front camera.

Move the finger print scanner to the back, take away Google assistant button, better selfie camera, maybe just a tad smaller and faster wired charging.

A smaller device and a powerful processor.

I ask why Nokia acts the same as Motorola, when it was acquired by Lenovo and from the beginning they manufactured and launched mid-range phones with little powerful SD processors. Well, the same is happening with Nokia, they manufacture and launch very nice and resistant smartphones but with a low mid-range processor, why? What are they afraid of? For example, this phone should have been released with a 700 or maybe 800 series processor, like the phone I own, my Poco X3 Pro, whose processor is an SD 860, with 8Gb of RAM and 256 of ROM, and that is still considered within a high mid-range, but worth acquiring for its great hardware. Xiaomi does dare to take a step much further, because they know that a phone with these features is going to sell like hot cakes, well, this Poco X3 Pro is the best seller during 2021. Nokia needs to dare to take that big leap and the truth is that it would work perfectly, IMHO!😉👍🏻📱🍻

i think you chose the wrong phone to review 😅. Many of those features lacking are usually in upper mid-range phones not on a budget rugged phone like this one. you should have reviewed nokia 8.3 5g instead and discussed the features it lacks.

I prefer this over the 8.3 funny enough :) Now obviously the improvements would come at a cost, but this is a wishlist for a phone I already really like the way it is.
