I don't see anything unreal about her, but the truth to the matter is, she just recently started this in her 60s. She doesn't even have years of experience doing this. I have ALWAYS SAID THE SAME THING!!!! It does make perfect face. They are exfoliating everyday as to where women are using so much make up every day. Well, some women are...or do....that work or have pride in how they look. We do not realize how much all the “skin products” that we use REALLY DO clog up our pores! I’ve never done this, but now I just freaking might do it. I’ve always wanted to, but as she mentioned in the beginning of the video I was horrified of the “rumor mill,” my mom used that on me forever for shaving my legs. But my hairs DID come back thicker and blacker on my legs so I was depressed. LOL. However, I didn’t care what happened..... I DID I FACT SHAVE MY ARMS!!!! I had thick hairy forearms and as a young impressionable teenager I was like, “Awwwww hell naw!” I ain’t doing that!!!! I’ve been doing that for over 30 years. I love that we had the same thought process! Hahahahaha. Well, I think I may have a new project in my future. Happy Shaving! LOL 😂

I’m reading through the comments and saw yours and thought it was so sweet. Like you, I had no idea other women did this and am relieved to know I’m not the only one! I thought the little razors that she describes, and I buy for this, were for just cleaning up around the eye brow. I had no idea others did this! Now I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! Plus, all the women in my family pluck the little stray hairs we get on our chins, and this is horrible for our skin! It can lead to ingrown hairs as well. I just really started doing my whole face in the past year, and I have been so happy with the results. Not only are the small, ingrown pimples (which I never had until my 40s!) not around anymore, but the dry patches and unevenness has gone away. Thankfully! Anyway, I wanted to say something specifically to you. If your hubby ever finds out, just say it’s micro blading (instead of shaving). That is what they call it at the facial skin spas. I had gone in once a few years ago to have a facial done, and she did micro blading on me, and it was the same thing. I don’t know why I did not catch on back then, but that’s beside the point. Just wanted to save you from feeling like your hubby might “out” you and then make fun fun of you. We all gotta do what we gotta do, irregardless of our silly husbands. Haha! Happy New Year!

I'm an Esthetician and want to just explain why people think that shaved hair comes in darker and thicker. Hair, when it grows out of the follicle, it has a fine, tapered edge that emerges from the skin. It appears lighter and is less noticeable due to its fine taper. When we shave a hair, it now has a blunt cut at the middle of the shaft, where it is the thickest. So just at or below the surface, it is blunt edge and when it grows out from inside the skin, it comes out at its thickest and darkest part. So it looks more thick, dark and stubbly. The only things that makes more hair grow or less hair grow, almost always is hormones. Medications also change hormones and hair growth. If shaving helped to make hair grow then men wouldn't be going bald, because they try to shave their heads to make it grow more. It doesn't work. And yes, Dermaplaning is basically shaving the face. Dermaplaning is illegal in many states for Estheticians to perform so you can buy those devices that this gal recommends and just remember to do it on a clean face and sanitize your shaving blade with at least alcohol.

You are so brave. I was so embarrassed when I was 24 years old, and at a dinner party in NYC. I had "bleached" my mustache back in the eighties and thought it looked OK. It did not. A child at the dinner table piped up and said "Mommy, why does that lady have a mustache?" The woman replied "Well honey, there are things that can be done for THAT." I was never so embarrassed in my young life. I started waxing after that and have continued nearly daily since then and I am now 62 and worried about what will happen as my skin ages and it starts ripping with continued use of hard wax. I have always avoided shaving because I notice other women who shave and can tell a five-o-clock shadow a mile away. That is my biggest fear regarding shaving. I do not wear make-up, and am a wash-and-go woman, but detest having to wax as well. I would hate feeling any picky feelings anywhere, and occasionally wax the waning hair on my legs and have very little body hair left and often feel if I let myself go I would resemble one of my cats or the character "Festus" from Gunsmoke, the old Western. I fear being stuck in a nursing home as I have no family to care for me, despite the fact I was a caring nurse for many years and never let my patients look bad but worry I would in that horrible situation. I thank you for an informative video about such a sensitive topic especially for post-menopausal women who have lacking hormones that make this issue so much worse. It is definitely worth some serious thought. We should have female volunteers who go to Nursing homes equipped with hair removal devices to help our elderly women. It would be so appreciated, I am sure. Bless your heart for doing this.

Thank you PrettyOverFifty!! You gave me the courage to shave my face, it was the best thing I EVER did! I am 47 yrs younger, growing up my mother made me believe to not pluck my eyebrows, to leave my mustache alone and to NEVER shave face. It was the best decision for myself & my beauty skin care routine. I was blown away by all of the dead skin cells and peach fuss. My face looks, feels, much smoother & brighter. Thank you again. Your tutorial was a true blessing for me. 💯🤩

I’m wondering how this would work on young skin/acne? My daughter is 16 so acne is normal. But we’re hispanic and she has darker hair on her cheeks like i do (I’m 45 and just recently started shaving my face- love it!) She does her makeup like an artist, it’s just beautiful and varies from vibrant to subtle depending on her mood. I just wonder if shaving this way would help with her acne. Any thoughts?

@@rosec1345 (As a retired medic) Imho, probably the biggest potential danger for your 16 yr old daughter would be the infection risk and /or facial scarring, due to her existing acne. If a superfine but supersharp scalpel-like shaving blade removes existing fine peach fuzz / surface layer of her skin....then being * absolutely meticulous * with her facial cleansing routine ( before and after the shaving ) would be essential. The upper layer of facial skin, in a 16yr old girl, usually sloughs off and renews itself pretty quickly..... as her whole body is still growing towards physical maturity / adulthood, until sometime around her early 20s. Perhaps start off by just shaving a very small area, taking before and after photos, to get a clear idea of the results. Even if that proves to be OK and she decides she still wants to go ahead with shaving.. she certainly needs to proceed with extreme caution........I suggest by just dipping her toe into the water at first, to test things out....before jumping in the deep end and regretting it. The last thing either of you want is for it all to go pear-shaped, making matters worse for her skin, not better. Dont want to sound all doom and gloom here. Just wanted to give info re potential dangers. Anyways, hope it helps you ❤

I've noticed my serums and moisturizers soak into my skin better and my skin looks so smooth after makeup application. Dermaplaning has also helped with fine lines around my mouth and cheeks! Give it a try but go slow at first until you get used to it. You can use the blades multiple times as long as you clean them with iso alcohol after each use. Happy shaving ladies!

I just started this video and already I love it. A few years ago I shaved my face just to see what would happen. The first shock was how much 'peach fuzz' came off. All that fine, invisible hair was amazing. Then I put on my makeup. OMG. It was awesome. For the first time in my life my makeup went on flawless. When I tried to spread the word with family and friends their reactions were seriously NEGATIVE. The guys acted like, if I had to shave I had a problem and the women acted offended. Older female relatives were horrified and insisted that, if I kept doing it, I'd grow a beard. All I was trying to do was point out that the natural peach fuzz really does make a difference when you're trying to put on makeup. That your skin really does appreciate the exfoliation and will be so clear. But there are so many myths out there that I was pushing back against a thousand years of old wives' tales. This over 50 is thrilled that I'm not the only one who's discovered this trick. And no. I don't have a freaking beard. Sheesh, people. Learn how to science.

I'm seeing this everywhere, women are saying the same thing about shaving but I'm scared. I'm Italian, I'm Mediterranean with dark olive skin and my peach fuzz is not peachy at all. I already have dark thick hair on my chin and I'm so worried I'm going to get those black dots all over my face if I shave And when I told my husband that I was thinking of shaving, his reaction didn't help. 🙄
@vociferonheraldofthewinter22843 жыл бұрын
@@lapatti How do you handle it now? Do you pluck or wax or ignore it? I have medium olive skin. (Yes, it is a thing. A regular medium shade that's green tinted. It's hell finding makeup to match.) I have the fine peach fuzz on my cheeks, but black whiskers pop up here and there on my jaw and chin. I've been waxing my lip and plucking the annoying thick ones for 30 years. After decades of this, the mustache is quite now fine. The whiskers grow pretty fast and I still pluck them before shaving once a week. But I've always ignored the peach fuzz on the cheeks. So now it's pluck the big, black ones then shave the whole thing down once a week. It's pretty fast. If you have a lot you might want to try waxing the areas that have the heaviest growth then shave the rest. Then the whole face gets exfoliated. Remember, the shaving includes areas where you have no hair at all. Oh, and add a bit of hydrocortisone cream right after to calm down redness and prevent ingrown hairs.

Julie Wright I learned from my dermatologist that it IS a myth. The reason many people think that the hair grows in thicker is that when we first start shaving , Usually in our teens, our hormones cause us to grow hair where we didn’t used to before. Even if we DIDN’T start shaving, the hair would continue to fill in. If you have thick, dark hair when it grows back it feels stubbly and gives the illusion of “growing back thicker”. From a dermatologist’s perspective, they have literally measured number of follicles and thickness of hair so they know what to expect throughout people’s different stages of life. Of course hormones and heredity determine hair thickness and color but , according to my doctor, shaving does not make the actual hair thicker or more dense. Hope this helps. 💗

Cajun Girl ...The reason hair after you shave it seems to grow in darker and thicker is only because it has been cut… So what you feel when it grows back is a blunt cut edge instead of a tapered natural edge that the hair once was. When you stop shaving , the hair just goes back to the natural tapered edge as it grows out. All hair seems darker when it first pops out of the hair follicle.
@shannonbowen23874 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but the whole point in your comment is that it doesnt grow back out tapered & natural & never will again!! I'm so sick of people saying "it doesnt grow back thicker, it just appears that way" it appears that way because it does!!

I have been shaving my over 67 years face for years. My skin looks and feels so much smoother now. I don’t wear makeup ( actually have no idea how to use it to my advantage) as a general rule.

I have a mole under my chin that sprouts hairs, so I have always had to tidy them up for decades (yes, I am now 67). For about the last ten to fifteen years, I have also been shaving my face. The results is worth it. Being a naturalyb blonde, I only need to do it when I notice the peach fuzz. Friends often ask when am I going to catch up in the wrinkles and grey hair department. I have been very blessed with my skin and my hair, my entire life. I very rarely wore foundation and definitely don't know. I just need a bit of concealer, eye shadow, liner, brows and mascara, blush and my lip stain and I am good to go. Never forget to use a moisturizing sunscreen ladies, regardless of age. I think it has been my saving grace since the 80s.

I had my mole removed because I hated that hair. Now that hair has come back to haunt me in my old age--it's grey!

Thank you for this tutorial, I’ve been plucking and hating my facial hair for years. I’ve subscribed and going to binge watch your videos before I head to the store to get this little razor! I appreciate you taking the time to discuss and teach your methods! 😊

Hi Kimberly! I've been shaving/derma planing for about 6 months now and it really does make such a difference in the feel of my skin and the way makeup applies. Thanks for sharing your routine!

@@PrettyOverFifty Hello Kimberly, thank you for a great video! When I was 33 I became a full time working professional clown. In my late 20's I worked at it part of the year. We use a special kind of makeup and it has to be set. It must go on smoothly and thin so that it moves with your skin and feels like skin when touched. Fast forward to after I had a hysterectomy at 32. I noticed a light peach fuzz was growing on my face which gave my makeup a matted look, not good at all! It occurred to me that I could carefully shave it off because I had to have the smooth look I was used to. It worked! So, I began to shave regularly. Eventually I became a lecturer on the circuit teaching tips and techniques of make up for the older clown and was a competition clown, as well. It was always good for a laff when I would get to the part about shaving my face, first there would be a silence, and then the room would be full of gasps, uncomfortable laffs and then hands shooting up with questions which I answered openly and honestly. Then I would shave my face before the makeup demo, the men had some funny comments but they learned some things, also. When my makeup was finished, I invited anyone who was interested, to touch my face. Over the years, I have been told how that one part of the demo was so important to the women who saw me do it, as many were older and having the same experience. I am 78 now, I still shave my face and am thrilled to learn about the razor you showed us, thank you more than words can say. BTW, I still get compliments on my complexion, because it is smooth and healthy, after shaving 3 times a week for many years, now I just do it once a week. A new fan!

I am Team Tinkle at age 52. Love those little razors. I use them to catch the little hairs that grow in between laser treatments, but I’ve never considered using them over the rest of my face. I’ll try it!

If you look at an illustration of a hair/hair follicle growth, you can see if hair is shaved at mid-cycle, the hair will continue to grow from the thicker section than the tip of new growth, making it appear that it’s “growing in thicker. Blacker? I don’t know about that. Also, the difference between dermaplaning by an esthetician versus shaving is about $75-150 and up. Thanks for the info.

I've been shaving my face for 30 years, I'm 60 now, I would bleach the chin hairs & mustache before I started shaving it, it's so much better shaving!

(from Sandi) But doesn't it drive you crazy? I absolutely hate it and I've been doing this for about 32 years now, I'm 67! I can't go a day without shaving, that's the worst thing; I always have to shave! But I had no choice; I had way too many hairs to pluck, so I just decided that I'd be shaving the rest of my life.

OMFreaking God!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH 😊 🙏 Ian 41 and my skin is so oily and beginning to get discoloration from sun damage and dead skin. I shaved my face 🤣🤣🤣 and HOLY KRAP....the dead skin just came off in clumps and most of the discoloration came off also!! Thank you for doing this video!!

Genius. Thank you so much for sharing. And I am convinced that those rebel hairs (which I refer to as witch hairs) pop up overnight and grow at an alarming rate. They are also apparently made of steel wire. But armed with my razors, I will defeat them (although there is something very satisfying about plucking those particular ones).

Lol. Yes! Pesky brillo pad chin whiskers. I constantly pluck them out. I swear they grow back over night.😢

@@Gypsygirl9 You must be in the UK if you're referring to brillo pads ;) And yes, they grow back overnight. And about 4mm at a time.

I'm 53..... as soon as you made the comment about how we all believed that shaving our faces would end in black stubble, I really laughed and totally agree. I've only been shaving my face for a few weeks, and am keen to learn tips and advice. Thank you for taking the time to record / edit / post this video, and for being so straight to the point. 💐 🥰

I am 73 yo and have been shaving my face ever since I read a comment from the beautiful Elizabeth Taylor that said she shaved her face because her makeup always went on smoother! I will start with my nose again because I ‘m buying the smaller razor that you have shown. I then use small dab of coconut oil to massage my skin at night. Great video!

I have been “micro derming”, aka shaving my face since the 80s. I went to Sonia Dakar in Beverly Hills who swore by it. ( her clients were the A list celebrities..I’m not one, thankfully!) Think about it , men always have the smoothest faces after they shave. And after I started, I never had a skin problem, no blemishes etc. My makeup went on 100% better too. I never told a soul except those 4 who confessed first.
