Wow… you don’t like the transmission, you don’t like the engine, dislike the front desing, the 3rd row space and the safety system too. So, what you like about the Outlander? 😂😂
@William14094
@William14094 7 ай бұрын
He’s right on most of that. I would add the security system is poorly designed and even dangerous (you can easily lock yourself out of the car). It happened to me twice. The 3rd row is flat out stupid. Useless. 2nd row is fairly roomy, yet the front seats don’t push back far enough. The starter is cheap and sometimes requires pushing the button just right to get it started. Putting the car in neutral can be a massive annoyance. Again, you have to have the magic touch to put it there. Also, the touch screen is difficult to reach, making it dangerous while driving. The gas can door is made of cheap plastic and can occasionally get stuck. Happened to me. The best part is the exterior design. It’s got a mean front grill. And it’s reasonably priced and has a better than average warranty, I guess. But I wouldn’t buy another one. It’s riddled with way too many design flaws. Stick with Toyota. -2024 Outlander owner

Thanks for the review! -- I bought my 2023 Outlander PHEV (SEL Premium) 4 weeks ago - local dealer had 7 Outlander PHEVs on the lot. I got it for $1,200 UNDER MSRP and the dealer gave me $31,500 for my 2018 Acura TLX -- I paid $18,000 plus tax for the Outlander. I have driven 1,040 miles -- getting 72 MPGe. I am plugging it in every night for my daily commute and weekend errands. It feels "luxurious" inside -- premium leather, panoramic roof, 360 camera, power folding side mirrors, heated, steering wheel, heated seats, hands-free tailgate, head up display, Bose speakers AND massaging seats! If I take a longer drive, I will have no "range anxiety." Plus, the Outlander has a 10-YEAR WARRANTY. ONE BIG NOTE: the owner's manual clearly states that the 3rd row is ONLY for people under 5' 3." I do not need a 3rd row, so I "tri-fold" it. This opens up a HUGE, DEEP storage well. And, I can stack duffel bag items on the folded 3rd row! The RAV4 Prime may have better overall mpg, but the 18-month wait and $12,000 "dealer adjustment" are outrageous. One local dealer wanted $65k for loaded Prime with MSRP of $52k. I did not consider Kia or Hyundai brands -- "Kia boys" have stolen 3,000 of them in my area (and assaulted drivers in the process). This is a real issue. Lastly, my home solar panels will be installed in 6 weeks along with a Level 2 charger in my garage. The Outlander PHEV is the PERFECT choice for me in 2023. Final note: the local dealer now has 14 Outlander PHEVs on the lot and offering $1,250 off MSRP. Availability, luxury, value and price -- a great vehicle to "step into" electrification!

Appreciate a lot for your information! Where do you live if I may? Thanks! Am eyeing the 2023 SE trim for a while, but not sure if mitsu will get back to pricing before pandemic or not. Maybe they only do the 1200usd under MSRP for phev since it is at a higher price... Do you happen to know if it is possible to get under MSRP for other trims. I heard in 2020, 2021 that it was possible to get up to 7000 usd under MSRP, now it seems like mission impossible...

I just bought the 2023 SEL with the 2-tone exterior and the same interior as this one and I absolutely love it. I don’t plan on racing in it, so it’s fast enough for me. I’m 5’2” weighing 140lbs and I was able to sit in the 3rd row comfortably. I even had my husband sit in front of me and adjusted the seat to his comfort level and I was still fine. Replacing the headlights isn’t a big issue. I’m new to the CVT, but I don’t have a problem with it. After driving my Audi A7 for 11 years and with the switch up between our other sports cars, I don’t see the problem/issue you have.

The Outlander definitely has enough speed for all of your daily commute, errands, etc... I have 2 Outlanders I rent out and I haven't gotten a single complaint about the lack of horsepower. It rides smooth and has decent mpg for a mid-sized SUV (maybe that smaller engine?). Plus the 2nd row like you said is highly adjustable and allows for people to actually sit in the third row comfortably (just as long as the people in the 2nd row aren't reclining all the way haha😂).

Ben Hardy failed review the drive mode selector for the CVT transmission. It's a programmed transmission. It's awesome! I've owned ACURA MDX's with 300hp. The outlander isn't as powerful but weight to balance ratio, it lack nothing with the right drive mode. If you put it in TARMAC mode when driving It's very peppy. NORMAL mode is gas saving and ECO mode is extreme gas saving. Very nimble peppy SUV, he just isn't up to speed with the Mitsubishi technology. I've owned it for 3months now and it's ahead of its class for the price. Very happy purchase!

READ BEFORE YOU BUY! When it comes to the the mi pilot assist. You have to have it in cruise for it to activate and keep you centered. Then everytime you switch lanes via turn signal it will beep at you when you enter the other lane and it locks on to the lines again. So left turn signal, switch lanes, locks on with green steering wheel lit... BEEP. Then pass the car and go back to the right lane, locks on.... BEEP. No where to turn that off and super annoying with no volume control either. Also, when the Mi Pilot active you can't turn off the alarm for when you drift to a line on either side. This is usually the persons doing over the assist but it will give you a BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP when that happens and you can't turn that off either. So if those types of alarms bother you then this is not the car for you. I like my previous car which was a Hyundai and I could have the steer lane assist on all the time, cruise or no cruise and shut the annoying sounds off. I regret buying this car because of this...

Mitsubishi gives you 100,000 miles warranty that includes the CVT transmission. I don't see Mitsubishi losing a lot of money on CVT transmission repairs unlike the Korean car manufacturers that lose tons of money of their automatic transmissions. The 3rd row is meant for kids and that it why they are a compressed SUV and not a Yukon.

@@trashyspeeds266 You're not informed of the CVT selector modes. They change the transmission programming for what kind of power you want. A really cool feature that no one talk about. I have a 22 SEL SAWC and I am completely happy with it. Zero issues so far (other than the navigation ) in the 1st 1.5 years. I hate the Navigation system. It never or rarely recognizes what I am saying correctly when trying to set directions...I just stick with Android Auto. Other than that everything works as it should, its comfortable, quiet, handles well, gets great mpg 26.8 average with a mix of around town and quick hwy jaunts....30-31 on trips. Would I prefer a conventional automatic yes, but I think they programmed the fake shift points fairly well. (as far as reliability of the CVT I have had two Mitsubishis with CVT that I drove over 100k miles, a Lancer and an Outlander, and never had any CVT issues so I would assume this will be the same. I think the engine power is fine overall. Putting it in Tarmac helps it at least feel a bit quicker. Will it win any drag races...no but that is not what most people buy it for. I did test drive the PHEV recently and there is a big difference in power they say 0-60 is 6.5 in power mode and it definitely felt that quick. I heard they may do a Ralliart version of the PHEV with close to 300HP also. On the adaptive cruise control I have used it several times on trips and have had no issues with jarring movements. performed quite smoothly actually. I have the Black Diamond paint and get quite a few compliments from strangers in parking lots when she is clean.

Nothing is wrong with the cvt , it drives smooth and simulates gear changes Just like an automatic, You act is if everyone uses torque converter automatics , subaru, nissan , Mitsubishi, honda uses Cvt , toyota uses cvt in some of their cross overs such as the corolla cross, mazda uses automatics ford automatic transmissions are quite bad Kia / Hyundai uses dual clutch which is quite bad If you want a faster outlander, you can just get the phev version which does 0-100 in 7 seconds. The third row is optional , you don't have to use it, no reason to complain about it. The rav 4 , crv , Hyundai tucson does not even have a third row option.

There’s a Trade Off with Turbo’d engines. Sure you get more power from it, but because the turbo is forcing so much power out of the engine, the engine doesn’t last as long. So you have to drive your vehicle like it’s the only vehicle you have. Because one day, with a turbo, your engine is simply going to Grenade and then you’re taking the bus to work. I own the 2023 Outlander SE model and after a year of driving it in all four seasons, I must say that it is wonderful to drive, handles great and is great on gas. And if the price of replacement lights bothers you, then maybe drive something cheap like a Chevy or Ford. That seems to be more your price range.

We've got a 2022 exceed tourer, no problems so far, 10yr warranty and fixed price servicing sold it to us. You grow accustomed to the CVT, the engine is underpowered, and we would have preferred a diesel. The 3rd row was standard in the trim level, we've used it once in 2 years the rest of the time it's folded up under the floor, creating a no lip cargo area. The lights are great, the paint work around them is more problematic. I've just experienced an issue with the cruise control on a long trip, the cruise control can not maintain the set speed on long steep inclines, the speed kept creeping up and over my setting and then it would break sharply creating a very choppy ride until I took over. I imagine this is in part due to the cvt and its inability to 'downshift'.
@Mr6384
@Mr6384 7 ай бұрын
The first point about the CVT is one reason I’m looking at buying one! The 8 speed automatic in my 2018 GMC Sierra with 45000 is going out as we speak. Now I have an extended warranty that’ll cover the repair. But they cannot because there are so many of these with failing transmissions that they are on a national back order without any end in sight. After talking with three local transmission shops and three GM dealers, there’s not even a way to rebuild what I have. The selling dealer tells me the “GM recognizes that these have issues and that simply flushing the fluid out will fix the transmission.” But, they won’t cover it, nor will they say for sure this will stop future repairs. So, do I part with $400 (for fluid replacement?) and hope? Well, I don’t think so. At 61 I need a reliable vehicle, not a fast one

I would like to say. All the reasons why the dislikes don't make sense. I will explain. 1 The cvt trasmition has been around since 2006. I personally had it on my vw Jetta and all my other cars since then. That's why it saves so much more Gas and energy. 2 The feasther crews control stopped in 2021. With the feature pilot control. That's why it shakes to worn you and wake you from falling asleep. Before this the roadsides had hard riveted pavement to wake you up. 3 The three different lighting systems are for more covering visibility. That works all together with all the pilot control systems and navigation capabilities. 4 The 3rd roll sitting it's a obtion because it's hardly ever use and take space. It's really ment to put a child. Not really for a full adult person. It's probably one of the saves place of sitting in the car. I'm 6 feet tall and 280 lbs and I'm able to sit back there in case of an emergency.

I personally like the look of the Outlander and have considered it, however, the CVT is what keeps me from getting it. I have driven many cars with CVTs and despise them. The cars I've driven with CVTs have been Nissan Altima, Sentra, Rogue, Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Honda Accord, and Subaru Outback and Ascent. I own a Honda Fit with the CVT, and it will be my last vehicle with the CVT... there is too much lurching and weird things the transmission does, or then it just doesn't accelerate as quickly when you really need to get up and go. I live and drive in Atlanta traffic daily, and my biggest complaint with my car is the CVT in traffic! Each person has their preference; however, if you slack on the maintenance of the CVT; good luck with the repairs.

OUTLANDER is a great vehicle but I suggest few improvements...I owned Rogue and I was missing 3rd row (we got 4 kids), my wife feels uncomfortable driving big suv so we bought OUTLANDER which is based on Rogue; The improvements I would suggest to Mitsubishi are(1): 3rd row does not have side airbags and if you get hit on the side your head will hit the seatbelt mount - so I propose to move the rear window backward to make it vertically flat and allowing for space to move the seatbelt mounting for 3rd row behind the 3rd row seat to increase the safety; right now I have to put my smaller kids in child seats with good side protection in the 3rd row but once they grow 5 years from now the 3rd row will become less safe for them. (2) they need to switch to the 1.5 turbo engine from Nissan ASAP to increase the fuel economy. (3) they need to add underbody air shield for the rear bumper; right now the rear bumper is like a sail catching lots of air under the vehicle and costing $$$ in fuel economy (4) front wipers blades are not shielded by the hood, they need to be relatively redesigned to reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency. (5) lastly the from control arms seem to be from Nissan Altima/Maxima and they have rubber bushing and I dont know how long they will last on Outlander but for my Altima I had to replace those after 9 years and 55k miles; so I propose better bushing or at least required maintenance with silicone grease to increase life of those bushings.

In Panama. Just took delivery on our 2024 yesterday. Some thoughts: 20" tires look nice but suck on the many potholes that plague the highways down here. Gotta be extra vigilant. My wife uses iphone and I use android. We noted that when her phone connects via apple carplay, radio and connected Bluetooth audio is muted. Only option (we've found so far) is to disable or kill Carplay on her phone to permanently disconnect from car so radio and my bluetooth audio will work. Still researching that issue. In Panama, Outlanders do come with spare and jack. That was good news. Performance wise. Cant remember the last time I needed 0-60 in under 8 seconds so that little 4 banger with the CVT is fine for us. Interior is pretty nice compared to our 2011 Nissan Pathfinder so no complaints there 😉.

wow, you have a spare? Maybe somehow the managed to get one in on the 2024 models? Did they finally do away with the stupid 3rd row then?? I agree on the tires, should have more sidewall...like maybe a 60 series tire (like on the ES trim in the US).

My experience with CVTs have unfortunately been great. I say unfortunately because I don't like how it drives and I was expecting it to break already. They always work as if a clutch is slipping down there. My 2016 outlander has had absolutely no issues and I've put 100k miles in it already. For my next car I will stay away from a CVT car. I would love to buy a Montero if Mitsubishi decides to bring it to the US. I guess I'm dreaming too much.

The 22 Outlander has a new CVT from Nissan, so you can't relate it to past Mitsubishi vehicles. Nice that there is a 10 yr/100K mile warranty to cover the Nissan CVT. I wish it well as I am on the fence as I type this whether to get one (huge discounts right now).

@ofcbob6391 I ended up getting a new 24 a outlander. I am still not a big fan of CVT transmissions but the cars within the price range all had CVTs. To break away from CVT cars I had to spend almost double that the price of a new Outlander. It's worth mentioning that the new CVTs work more like an automatic transmission. They shift gears very similar automatically even though I know it's not changing gears in there. But it simulates it well. The only car within the price range that doesn't have a CVT is theazda CX-50, but I did not like how it rode. It felt heavy. The new outlander is very soft to drive.

@@P_double_H Good to hear, my only concern was with the supposed harshness of the ride on the 20 inch wheels with only a 45 series sidewall. So no regrets as to the comfort of the ride for you? It's just going to be me and the wife so it won't be pulling a lot of weight around, and I drive very conservatively. I really like the fact that everything will be covered for 5 years. I probably won't keep it longer than that.

@@ofcbob6391 I had the same concern regarding the wheels. The ride is very smooth despite the rim diameter. The ride is even smoother than the 18 inch wheels of the Mazda. One thing I can say though, don't pull with it. That's what kills the CVT. That and not doing the oil changes every 30k miles.

@@P_double_H I've read on more than a few blogs that the key to having the CVT perform well over time is to do a transmission fluid drain-n-fill every 30K miles. I'll change oil and filter every 5K (once a year for me). Thanks for the comments on the 20 inch tires and their ride.

I actually hit a large Truck tire a few weeks ago on the interstate the last hour of a 14 hour drive..it was dark out and I didn't see it....the car did beep to alert me but I had no time to react and hit it going about 75. When I got home I was afraid to look because like u mentioned, I thought I would need a new bumper...all cosmetic but still just under 1300 in damage. The nice part is the bottom of the bumper is modular, so only the bottom pieces needed replaced which saved the full bumper from needing replaced

This review isnt fair from the perspective of what the narrator omits. Yes it has a cvt, but it is a 3rd gen cvt for the Outlander. Very smooth and reliable. Also Mitsubishi backs their engine and trans with 100k standard warranty. 3rd seat is small, but it is great to have to carry 7 people 50 miles or so, which are 90% of trips. Just adjust the front seats forward and there is reasonable room for all. Engine is plenty fast unless you want to have a race car. Traction mode is great for overtaking on mountain roads. The four cylinder is a large 2500 cc four cylinder. I get 40 mpg in Eco mode on long trips. Who needs the hybrid?

I have a 2013 Outlander with 142K that has a CVT Transmission, I have had no issues whatsoever with this vehicle or the high milage Endeavor, and Eclipse I previously owned other than tires, batteries and brakes. So I suggest is you have these 5 issues, go buy another vehicle with the optional equipment the Outlander comes standard with with for 12K more.. Come the 1st of the year, I will have a new Outlander SEL sitting in the driveway for my wife. Also, it comes with a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty that covers all the issues you seem to have a problem with which is the best in the automotive industry for this class of vehicle..

I’m not a CVT fan however I will say the 2023 Outlander felt so much smoother than the 2024 Mazda cx90 with its 9speed transmission.. not even close the Mitsubishi was leaps and bounds smoother and actually feels like an electric vehicle. Not sure what’s to hate about the self driving feature as it’s one of the best out there period. We tested it over 250 miles through traffic and construction and had not one hiccup. That was pretty beyond impressive. The technology that is equipped in the outlander far surpasses any competitors, it is intuitive and easy to use. The amount of features just blows everyone away.. even in much higher classes.. The interior is lush and just impressive. Very little hard plastics to be found and the vehicle is incredibly customizable as well. Plain and simple The Outlander has the proven track record for reliability in Phev and most everyone else are just trying to catch up. The value is unreal and the true edge over any competitor. Your getting so much more for way less cash. It also by far exceeded the estimated range of 420. We got 465 and still had plenty of gas left.. obviously this depends on driving styles, temperature,elevation etc.. Now for the gripes.. 3rd row seat although useful in a pinch is still very tight and requires adjustment of middle and front seats for everyone to be comfortable. 1. I would prefer if Mitsubishi just sold a 5 seater Phev and an extended version with 3rd row seat. Obviously this would be a huge undertaking to achieve as they are sharing chassis .. maybe utilize pathfinder chassis for extended version. 2. Charge time although adequate, Mitsubishi will need to improve charge times/charge rates. 3. They should extend even more options going into 25 model to include full ventilation seats, Ac scent atomizers, improve on/update gps monitor - though it operated better than the all new Mazda cx90 it still falls short of some higher end brands. 4. By 2025 I would once again increase battery size/capacity.. - though it currently holds one of the largest of any Phev.. the competitors have noted this and will surely make a point to match or beat in upcoming models. Overall the Outlander is a luxurious true all wheel drive compact suv that will keep you comfortable,safe and save money over its current competition.

My outlander is of 2019, CVT, I along my life had all sorts of cars with different transmission (automatic/manual/cvt), i can say the CVT is the smoothest of them all, no real gears so you don't feel any gear change at all, its a continuous smooth acceleration, very smooth in fact. The fog lamps in the 2023 model looks fantastic, yes if it breaks you will pay more, whats the suprise here ? Look after them and dont break them. 3rd row i take it as a bonus,,nearly never used but there in an emergency, so good enough. The engine, well its not a sport car, it delivers ok so i have no complain there. Maybe that particular vehicle is not for you, i would never understand why buy it. I find this review as misinformation, Mitsubishi sells vehicles of high tech specs and reliable at an unbeatable / uncorrupted price point, unlike many other brands (im faithful to no brands of anything), maybe you would prefer a Landrover yunk...

Continuously Variable Transmissions are the most rediculous transmission Ive ever come to know of, and I seriously have an issue knowing these auto manufacturers are choosing these over conventional manual transmissions. Just the amount of parts involved in producing a CVT as compared to a manual transmission is absolutely Nuckin Futz!!! I owned a nissan versa with a cvt, and I learned that the metal belt has like 450 metal pieces with metal banding, as well as metal links. I try to understand why the CVTs were ever invented in the first place. Sure go ahead and say gas mileage, but with the sheer number of problems with thes transmission, you would think the automotive manufacturers would be smart enough to use a much more proven and reliable transmission.

I say 100% without a doubt; It’s you the driver; not the vehicle. You just gotta know how to drive it!!! as with any vehicle depending on making model. I have lined up at the red light with high performance sports cars, and I still make it out of the red light before them 😆 even when they clearly wanted to raise me up in a red light competition, I won every single time. Sure I can’t beat them in a long run, but I can definitely beat them in the red light sprint. ha ha no problems with my Mitsubishi outlander. Just put it in tarmac mode and be sure to hit that gas nice and light at least halfway at the right time when the green light comes on base model Mitsubishi outlander 2022 anyway will win every time ha ha f ya BEOCHEZZ.
