I think you might be the first person I've seen who hasn't advocated for getting all crafted all pentamelded gear before stepping into savage. See, I'm not taking time off for savage. I'm going to work on Tuesday, coming home, picking up my wife from her job, having dinner, and going to try to get what progress done that I can. The discourse surrounding raid prep has definitely felt like it has more of a focus on the people that are going to be grinding it out all day, all week.

@@TFalconwing don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely better to be fully geared and pentamelded but it’s not completely required for the first fight or two. It really depends on how quickly you expect to clear the raid tier. If you’re going for a week one or two clear then it’s definitely recommended, but less so for more casual raiding imo

early savage pentameld is huge and important, the balance early on is pretty tight and a few stats can make a difference - with that being said: Full pentameld is optimal, but people overrate pentamelding for the sake of optimization/minmax. It's not worth losing sleep or sanity over. Just get it as good in check as you can. Same applies for crafters and gatherers. Always been. Of course if you want to world first race then yeah but it's not as bad people make it out to be. As long you are somewhat prepared that is, taking it too lightly is bad also as early savage is rough. Very few clear w1 raidtier anyway and only for them it really matters the most, maybe w2.

if you're playing tank or healer don't even bother or just use previous expansion materia for your red melds for selfish dps jobs it's more important but still not needed as long as first 2 raids and not alot goes wrong

I'm new to savage and I'm a bit scared and overwhelmed which I'm sure most people felt their first time so I know it's normal. Scared because also going with PF and maybe also not good enough for this content. I've come to accept 14 battle system with their 2m bursts, rigid rotations (in most cases not all) is very opposite to how my brain performs best so I have to put extra effort to learn and feel comfortable with jobs. I think I'm good enough with DNC and now VPR, been spending so much time practicing it and I can say I feel good enough to start savage with it. Still, so much stuff to keep on top of like gear, potions, food, what's best for your class, how much time will I waste in PF, etc. I appreciate this discussion Vit because it made me feel more confident and relaxed, I like what you said about just going and touching some grass too and that you are not a hardcore player like those that prog 16h per day which made me feel like you are someone on the same page as me so if you can do it, I can too. In the end I don't want to forget that I'm here to have fun while doing this mainly, it's not supposed to feel like I'm gonna be taking the hardest math test ever (I hate math, made me suffer so much in school). I'm here to be competitive (with myself mostly), get my clear, not be a burden to my team and enjoy that process. Cheers to all the people that are going in as their first time like myself, we can do this.

I'm gonna wait for prices to go down get a few more normal raid pieces and get a piece of 720 week 1. So by then I'll be in the 710 range I'd hope. Just gonna do a lot of wiping a lot of learning. Cuz everything is gonna be hitting like a ton of bricks. By weeks end there will be concrete strategies on what to do. I'll be watching big time raiders go through it all also week 1. i don't think pentamelded crafted gear is necessary for savage prog/clearing week 1, at least from my experience in abyssos/ana. outside of p8 the damage checks were never really an issue if the group was able to execute mechanics and do their rotation decently well (on top of food and pots). job balance was an issue but with how they handled p8's damage check requirement...well, i don't think they'll do that again as kinda shown by the damage checks in ana. so i don't think pentamelding your gear is really necessary...is it optimal? yes. should you if you want to parse? yes. but just to clear week 1? nah

I'm pretty confident with M1, it'll be designed to be the easiest to allow people to "settle in" to savage content. M2 and beyond, idk. PF is volatile, after all
@Cherryblossoms1103 ай бұрын
Alright, this ended up turning into a bit of a rant, but this was all information I took into consideration before deciding that I would need a static to clear week 1. I wanted to get it done week 1 in PF because PF warrior unga bunga but I ultimately decided to switch to a static, since veterans on r/FFXIV have been saying that you need insane luck for even a Week 2 PF clear. The reasoning behind this is that in a PF environment, you have no idea how good the players you're with will be. You also have absolutely no idea what their habits are, and there is no guarantee that the melee players in your party will have gear pieces. I also don't know if the PF culture in week 1 is even willing to funnel gear to melee. There's also no guarantee that those melee players are even good enough to beat floor 4 enrage, they could've easily have gotten carried on all 3 floors. The worst part of all of this is that if you are starting on day 1, logging will not be up, so you won't even know how good your melee players actually are until it's too late. That's the main thing that gives statics, as opposed to PF, far more leeway to meet enrage on the last floor. All members are familiar with each other's styles because they played with each other before Week 1. All members were vetted and trialed so each of them know that they are competent players that are not prone to drama or incapable of accepting criticism. All members are in agreement with who gets the loot, so they do not have to worry about failing enrage because of inadequate gear. Statics doing split clears have an even greater leverage in having at least 2 fully geared melee for the final floor. It's all about making your leeway and room for error as big as you possibly can to get a fast clear (which is why people throw so much gil out of the window to pentameld), and doing it on PF basically guarantees you won't have any leeway. If you are tackling it via PF, I highly suggest quickly identifying good players with the same goal as you and trying to start an impromptu static with them, because I honestly think that's the only viable strategy if you are aiming for Week 1. But again, going back to what I said, because logging isn't going to be up day 1, this will be a challenge. It should also be noted that basically every good player taking a Week 1 clear seriously is more likely to already be in a static with 7 other good players and is very unlikely to be messing around in PF, so finding these people in the first place is going to be the biggest challenge. You, yourself, also cannot be bad at the game. Since this is the first tier, I don't think the enrage will be tight enough that you need to consistently parse orange, but you (and every member of your party) definitely need to be able to consistently high-blue to high-purple parse on nDPS for your class, and this is doubly true if you are playing any melee. All melee, casters, and tanks need at least 95% GCD uptime All phys range need to be 98% to 100% GCD uptime with as little Empyreal/Standard Step/Air Anchor/Chainsaw/etc drift as possible All healers need at least 90% DoT uptime and at least 88% GCD uptime And this should be obvious but every player with a buff must have already mastered party buff alignment and preventing any form of party buff drifting (except in case of death, or deliberately drifting because of mechanics).
@kiretan85993 ай бұрын
The earlier you do it, the easier it is. You gotta go prog together with the PF chads, if you fall behind… you will only be left with leftovers as the chads progress to the higher tiers.

I freaking hate the whole "Strats" Topic. Because pf usually sticks to the first one who made a Guide which is usually one freaking complicated Day 1 Strat and refuses to Adapt. I remember P12s where PF Stick to Hector and Rinon here in EU especially in Phase 2 and they used a super complicated Strat for Caloric 1 that didnt made much sense. But then ive looked which Strat they played on NA and the Strat was super easy, totally Braindead and super constant. I used that Strat 8n my 2nd Static with my Alt and everyone who played it also thoight it was way easier than the Stuff PF was playing.
@kiretan85993 ай бұрын
Hector makes great visual guides. But boy do his strats suck donkey balls when it becomes more complicated than dodging left and right cleaves.

Everybody should just universally accept Daddy Hector and call it a day. It was nothing but smooth sailing with his guides. I liked Rinons P12S P2 strat it made sense, but this switching up between strats for a fight is garbage.
@DantoriusD3 ай бұрын
@@Lyu-Phy ngl i also really like Hector but his Strats are also often Week 1 Strats that could be improved a lot. And i think we will see lots of new Strat Guide Maker within this Expansion due to the Fact that the Devs drastically shrink the Hitboxes and you really have to Fight for your Uptime again. Hector Guides are usually "Better safe then sorry" which is totally fine but others will come with improved Uptime Strats.
