I used to doodle cartoon animals when I was bored at school. Your tips are great. I've never consistently sketched before but would like to create a daily art habit to help my mind and improve my skills. I love the folk style imagery and patterns ppl put on moths. I like your houses idea. ❤ Please keep sharing your pages! New subscriber.

Fabulous! Thanks for all the great ideas. Flowers and leaves are common for me, but I need some ideas, so thanks for the houses and fish, both of which I'm also drawn to. Love the idea of using a small sketchbook for this. I also like to doodle in watercolour.

Oh I’m so happy I found your channel! Happy AND helpful. I suffer horribly with chronic pain and am bed bound, but my pain doc suggested doodling to distract my mind from the “noise” the pain emits. I have to lay on my side so can only do bits at a time but it’s quite literally changed my life and heart. First thing in the morning, I grab my books and pens…. ❤

Oh I’m so pleased that sketching and doodling helps you. It can be such a wonderful thing to focus on. Xx

I agree! I have struggled with finding ways to not go crazy while spending 20+ hours/day in bed. I have brain fog from chronic pain and at first I had a very difficult time trying to create. Nothing came to mind, I started doodling, added colored pencils, then some watercolor pencils for the “good” days. I still struggle to be creative. Brain fog plays a part, but open to paper for my eyes only has been very cathartic. I’m so grateful to have stumbled onto channels like this one. Best wishes on your journey, and @SusanYeatesArtist, thank you!!

Thank you. This is so inspiring and I loved them all and want to try them all. And for me also the houses are my favorite and then the flowers and I love the organic shapes which I have doodle myself before. I have to say, the fish are very cute also and gave me an idea of something I like that I can doodle.

Thank you so much for your doodling ideas. I am still struggling with "ideas." I pick up a pen and don’t know what to do. I will try some of your ideas and see where it goes. Usually I end up drawing stars and hearts, silly birds and bugs, or blobs and swirls. More often I find something I like and copy. Sadly, nothing very original.

I’m with you, struggling to find my creative self that was once there with abandon. I’ve decided that, as I am in the first 4 months of my creative exploration, that, for example after copying 20 simple landscapes, I can then have the confidence to make up a landscape of my own, But, I’m with you, I find that generating my own ideas is very challenging! I plan to fix that, though. I’m happier than I’ve been in ages, and I attribute it to the calming effect of doodling and drawing.I find it helps to think about 3-5 years-olds with paper and crayons. They are so content and very proud of their art. I’m thinking of going that route! Best of luck to you. Let’s borrow ideas forever if that’s what it takes to be contented.

So rather than ask again for the tiny house doodle expansion I’ll mention that after sketching 30 circles with pencil in a note pad it’s definitely taking me longer than 5 minutes to draw something inside of them. I got about 7 done. Maybe I should A) not watch a show while doing them B) Start out with ink c) not draw them so small? I’ve put the book in my cart for later though and subbed to the channel!
