Most have to do with bike setup. I have a couple saddles with 143mm width all looks the same. I like my Selle Italia TM Novus Flow because of the seat bone to nose on saddle is more narrow. Not too hard and not too soft. I do like to ride in the drops a lot and still comfy on the hoods without moving all around on the saddle. Now I have no more saddle sores. Nice saddle for cheap. All of my shorts are Pearl Izumi.
@GCPerformance184 жыл бұрын

No one should be in pain while riding. A lot of it has to do with the chamois in your bib or shorts. I have the bontrager aeolus elite and use it with black bibs or castelli with zero issues. I try pearl izumi and I get saddle sores on both legs and numbness everywhere down there.
@GCPerformance184 жыл бұрын

Wow, fantastic video. I've tried MANY saddles - I thought it was just me that felt some saddles of the same size felt too small/narrow. I too, am now on a power 143 and it's pretty nice. My previous favorite was the Toupe from 2009-ish. That Carbon Hotwalk in the back though! Lucky kid there 🙂

I bought the same saddle earlier today. I was going to buy the power pro mirror very cushy but the price tag threw me for a loop. I have saddle sore from riding my old saddle and swelling of the tissue. Not a pleasant feeling. I was measured. I put my bike on the trainer with bib shorts and chammy butter. Right now it a bit uncomfortable cause of the saddle sores and swelling of the soft tissue. That swelling occurred cause of crash so the nose of the old saddle hit my soft tissue. Talk about pain. When I'm healed and can't wait to see how the saddle really feels. But even in my condition it's a major difference from my old saddle. It turns out it was too narrow. So let's see if I go for the power mirror saddle. But I may be ok with the same saddle you have which happens to be 143mm as well. Thanks for the info it helps
@craigherriot40263 жыл бұрын
Best video I've seen on the subject. This really is becoming my go-to channel for everything bike. One thing, like some other commentators I would like to know what your seat bone measurement came out as to make you decide on the 143mm power saddle? Thanks again.
@alexben9274 жыл бұрын
Have you tried the power mirror. I currently use the power for more aggressive rides and the leather selle anatomica for longer rides. I’d like to have one saddle but can’t ride centuries with the power hence question on power mirror? Also have your tried the Argo saddle terra which is similar to power?
@GCPerformance184 жыл бұрын
the mirror saddle is by far one of the coolest saddles I got to ride yet its only 20 mmiiles long but it was so comfy and molded to your body so well, very nice product I just wish there was more out there

Every time I start getting a little ‘sore’ on my soft tissue I sing to myself “Tainted Love” - it makes me laugh and move on with my ride. But I’m thinking of getting a Power saddle to try and relive some of that pressure on longer rides

lmao yea man im telling you that saddle does wonders for me I use to always have pressure there ebfore and now this thing helps alot

Take note of GC Perfs comment regards the power arc and needing to size up. I got measured up in an Aussie specialized dealer, ordered the power arc, and due to the fast roll off ended up missing my sit bones, and got some massive numbness. Dealer wasn't as switched on as GC to realise they would need to order that saddle in a size up from what the specialized computer software was telling us.
@coreyreeder35493 жыл бұрын
I recently got a specialized power. I like the shape but it honestly feels too firm. It almost feels like it bruises my sit bones. Should I get used to it or look to something else? What would you recommend?
@GCPerformance183 жыл бұрын
how many rides have you don if less then 10, get us e to it.... these saddles ahve a really dense foam and causes some vrusing at first tbu once u do a coupld rides it breaks in and accommodates the sit bones more
@TheCup0joe4 жыл бұрын
I've been riding a 143 Power Comp, I'm going to try out a 153 Pologo Dimension when CT thaws. I measured right in between the two sizes and think there's just enough roll off on the Power to make it not super comfortable. It's great for ~15-20 miles but any longer it loses comfort big time.
@GCPerformance184 жыл бұрын
okayed if that doesn't happen then try the eathos by bontrager I think they have a 148mm saddle that might work great for you
@PedroPrego4 жыл бұрын
Actually, I think you've missed one important aspect. Mentioning that carbon rail are always (if not always please let me know which are not) shorter than steel rails or something like that. It's very important because if one is on the limit of saddle adjustment, that change might throw one's fit out of the window.
@GCPerformance184 жыл бұрын
really, I have never noticed that but also in my opinion there shouldn't be a need where you need to push your saddle all the way forward, there should be other adjustments to do before that if you slam it all the forward or back there is something not right on the fit of the bike, maybe look at a setback seat post or a 0 degree set post
@PedroPrego4 жыл бұрын
@@GCPerformance18 most bikes have slacker st angles than specialized. My bikefitter recommended me a 65mm saddle setback from the bb when using a spesh power saddle as a reference. With a 73° degree st angle and even a zero setback post I cannot achieve a 65mm saddle setback when using some carbon railed saddles. I might be a weird case for bikefit but a non-carbon rail saddle usually has 20mm more of rail to play with.

I currently have a Power on my bike; I recently took off an Infinity saddle. The bike fitter told me there is a sweet spot that we need to find. That being the case, saddles like the infinity and the power reduce the sweet spot because how they are built - for the power the fall off reduces the sweet spot. According to him, some flatter and cheaper seat would work best for most riders. To his point, I got a Peloton in November and it doesn’t bother me, but the community has a lot of problems with it. Question for anyone willing to answer: On a ride of 40+ miles, do you get to a point where you need to come out of the saddle? For me, if I do ten miles seated the entire time I am surprised. I just need a break.
@GCPerformance184 жыл бұрын
yes tests completely normal, anything that long on a bike d=saddle isn't normal for us to be riding, so naturally we would need to come off the saddle for a break, that's perfectly normal, the more and more you ride the less you will need to do that but whenever you are pushing miles and longer then normal then your body won't be use to it
@jamsxr3 жыл бұрын
I’m swapping out my Power saddle. It’s not uncomfortable, but it’s been designed for the pro’s, and it naturally pushes you forward in the saddle to get you hunkered down. Going for a PRO Griffon saddle, I want something flatter and longer.

Another great video! I find as my body composition has improved through cycling, its revealing more the width of my sit bones. I think previously I had more cush to catch and support myself, and now I can really feel when I miss the saddle, or If I just make it on. When buying a new bike will stores let you swap out the saddle for a different width of the same model? Or is it just what Trek and Specialized etc supply the store, and you have to factor in a new saddle purchase - even if its just a wider model?
