I've been riding for around 38 years and I love watching videos like this just to see how what I feel is important compares to what others feel is important. And I like to look at it as there is more than one way to do things so my way is not the only way. Oh ya great video.

I can relate, I'm 44, never rode a BMX until last weekend.Bought one second hand because there's a pumptrack being built next to me and its too much a hassle to keep changing my MTB tyre, fork pressures and what not and it was way cheaper than a DJ.Met some riders there while riding my hardtail and that led me to the skate park and buying a used BMX, what struck me is how friendly everyone was and supportive of the novice trying to drop in a bowl for the first time.Only took once..I'm hooked, although have pretty near zero BMX skills :)

First rule of street etiquette is a freecoaster hub so you don’t wake up the dudes sleeping on the ledge next to you.

Actually got kicked out of an area yesterday for the first time. I'm not good enough to actually do anything aside from hopping over things, def not able do a proper wall ride etc. He was nice about it and I reciprocated. It was a pleasant interaction. I was just hoppiny over some curbs and ledges and manualling in the lot. And I'm goofy footed >

This has helped immensely. My journey has been pretty isolated and I have been focusing on holding up a wheelie, the manual, and bunny hop. My obsession to ride daily led to three major roadblocks. Bad sprained wrist from trying to BunnyHop and Handlebars gave and I crashed... I lost like 15 lba..but I was only 135 to start..and the final blow was a crash that bent back rim on tire. Won't rotate. Do I get a new bike? 2020 haro downtown dlx is a great intro but repairs might be almost 200??? What to do?

Law #1 that I never learned properly back in the day? You cannot spring up if your legs are straight. Thy legs must be bent when pulling front wheel up or hoppest thou shalt not. If thy legs are short squat down you must.

That’s a good point! Maybe 5 more things to learn will come next

@Brant_Moore when I started back on the 20” (after I lost interest in my road bike) the first thing I wanted to know was why did I suck so hard back in the day? It was because I never learned to hop properly. Even with so many great KZbin vids on hopping I almost never see anyone mention that you can’t do it right if your legs aren’t bent to some degree.
