Adrian Roth Exactly how I felt man. The first game has great re-playability for me. I think the only things I liked more about the second game were the new gadgets, parkour (got over it eventually) and the added hacking opportunities. I tried replaying WD2 but couldn't get past the first few chapters lol.

The first Watch Dogs is badass, I felt like John Wick in combat, the dark gritty tone made me feel like I was in a action movie, the story I could connect with, and the characters were well written. Watch Dogs 2 I liked, but lacked the attributes I liked in the first game, such as the story as it felt all over the place, the characters that I couldn't take seriously, the tone felt to happy and unrealistic, and the combat felt dumbed down. The only thing that were improved were the hacking, parkour, driving, and stealth.

I absolutely loved the first game's story, it was like an adventure (to me at least). Breaking into Iraq's building 3 times in different ways, escaping the police search at the baseball stadium, diguising as a prisoner and hacking your way to find someone (I don't remember guy's name) and escaping, finding a way into the bunker, exploring the abandoned CTos center in Pawnee and as well the journey to get towards the end. The emotion the story gave also made it good too.

Fr it’s like Ubisoft decided they didn’t want a game that could actually compete with GTA the highest selling piece of media of all time. Watchdogs 1 actually provided a decent alternative. I tried getting watchdogs 2 a few weeks ago knowing nothing about the sequel or what ppl thought online about and I quickly came to the conclusion it’s a very weak game and they took out most of the more interesting abilities on the skill system. WD2 just seems like a game in an overly imaginary world made by SJW’s which makes sense cause it’s in San Francisco. I’m WD1 you actually get to sneak into a human trafficking auction and fuck everything up. In WD2 the hacking system doesn’t even feel well timed when you’re trying to hack stuff while escaping in a car. So many big things and small details missing from WD2

Also for me the controls were better in 1 then 2 just the running around & climbing was better. but they had more costumes for cars & clothing. It would be nice to have more options for silence weapons. I also hope they have some so you can get Aidan clothes full outfit same thing with Marcus. Or have an side quest or something like in watch Dogs 2. I hope they do better & keep what made watch Dogs 1 good & 2 like slowing down time silence pistol have same controls as 1. Also being able to shoot of the car better. I can deal with it it’s just better. For online or solo cause your thumb hurts holding down RightStick when running from Cops or whatever. It mostly had to do with the features and graphics that were shown off at E3 that were cut from release. There is a moment on the E3 demo where Aiden strolls into a coffee shop and you can see the steam coming off a coffee cup, as for features. At E3 they showed Aiden about to be arrested, so he held his hands in the air (phone in hand), then he caused a black out and used focus mode to shoot the cops in the shin for a non lethal takedown. Simple details like that was what alot of people were looking forward to for the first game and that's why after release, it didn't do as well. It still is a good game but it could have been a great game.

I wish Aiden had a stun gun and could do some of the new hacking stuff That’s it I think the 1st was better in nearly every other way, the concepts were handled more adultly and (even though the story wasn’t A*) it was at least engaging. Aiden was engaging as a character and had his own complexes. It was nice to hear about what kind of things were going through his mind as he was meeting people and how untrusting he was, especially after what happened to his niece. Yet I felt like I connected WAY more with him.

Tbh with the look of nighttime in both games, it’s clear it was a tone-based choice. Watch_Dogs was much darker in tone while Watch_Dogs 2 was a lot brighter. It made sense in both games. Agreed, WD1, better atmosphere, better story, better characters. Although I enjoyed WD2 overall. I still found myself wishing WD2 would of followed tbone, or clara; leading up to her/him meeting aiden. I think marcus is a great character, but everything else felt too silly at times. It lacked the cloak and dagger feel, there wasn't any mystery, it lacked the importance of anonymity.

Completely agree, the story for 2 was so dumb for the reason that they just wanted it to be a gta online clone with all the ‘fun’ stuff to do on the side. It felt like the main story was just a cheap addition they put on five minutes later to give light meaning into *why* we where doing this. And the whole “follower count” was cool by itself, but bringing it in as a story element was a very :/ moment.

We must have in mind that WD2 doesn't have a Dark History like WD1 does. WD1 is about a Badass Hacker that messed with Powerful people in the Underworld (Unknownly) and because of that, someone special for him died (No Spoilers). WD2 is about a group of Anarchists that fight a giant company that controls information without losing the humor. It makes a lot of sense that WD1 has a Darker Photography than WD2 which has a lot of colors and light. The visuals has an important influence in the storytelling of a movie/animation/game.

My favorite part about the 1st Watch Dogs was the side missions you forgot to mention: -Privacy Invasions -Gang Hideouts -Criminal Convoys Missions like that made the 1st game *really* feel like a crime boss based city, and it's your job as Aiden Pearce to clean up the city like how Batman defends/fights crime in Gotham City.

I preferred The first Watch Dogs because it had a darker, more serious time to it. Aiden had a heavy backstory and even the music in game was very fitting to the tone. While Watch Dogs 2 was more silly, bright, could only hold I believe 3 weapons, and Marcus didn't feel as strong as a protagonist as Aiden due to his lack of backstory and the fact he was alot younger. I hope Watch Dogs 3 takes in a more serious tone, similar to the first game with a strong antagonist Plus the fact that Aiden was the one who took down Olivier Garnuere makes me hope we see more mention of abstergo cooperating with blume in other series entries.

The biggest reason why I couldn't get into watchdogs 2 was the main character. Everything that you do breaks the immersion. The killing, melee takedowns, causing traffic jams and such, hunting gangs; they all feel like something the character just wouldn't do, making using the drones the only real way to play. Meanwhile Aiden wasn't a particularly nice guy, which kinda gives you more freedom. You can go on a murderous rampage if you want or stick to non lethal takedowns, no matter how you play it doesn't break the character or the atmosphere. But yeah, really hit on the nail pointing out that watchdogs 2 lacked convincing side content. The first watchdogs was so fun that I beat everything in the game 3 times (except for that bouncy flower crud). As for watchdogs 2, I stopped playing a short while after horatio got killed because, well, I just didn't care about any of the characters. There was never any real tension or sense of urgency.

The reason that watchdogs 1 night time looks better is because of location. San Francisco (the location of watchdogs 2) has so many city lights that the sky appears brighter than it normally would. In Chicago there is a lot of city lights. But not as much as San Francisco. Therefore Chicago is darker.

Watchdogs 1 was far more mature & real and captured the city so well. Watchdogs 2 took away alot of the grit and seemed the tone was lowered for children or a younger crowd. I gotta say, I know it's an unpopular opinion here but I think Marcus is a better character than Aiden. Don't get me wrong, the badass award goes to Aiden and his edgy revenge plot, but the goofiness and all around good spirit of Marcus really brings him together as a character for me, not to mention that his characterization comes from his interactions with others instead of monologues. And idc what people say I love the new deadsec, each character has a unique personality which makes them interesting as individuals as well as in a group. Multiplayer was definitely better in WD1 though, and graphics were questionable for the demanding performance on PC WD2. WD1 is more badass, edgy, and gritty But WD2 makes relatable (albeit more goofy) characters that accomplished a story that takes a different route, but I think it's a positive change.

Wd1 had a better more serious story, and it had a real weapon wheel, only being limited to having 2 guns on you at once in wd2, really limits gameplay possibilities, i delleted wd2, cant be arsed to switch guns 24/7, and all the hipster crap just didnt appeal to me. Oh yeah and i loved the minigames/arcade games aiden had on his phone, and online free roam was so much fun! In my opinion watch dogs 2 was dissapointing in many levels

Deathbrewer yeah i miss the slomo shooting, i seriously hate the combat in wd2 every cop takes a billion bullets to kill, and the reload animations are painfully slow. And i hate how the game allmost forces you to play stealthy 24/7. And the weapon whell in wd1 was so much better, in wd2 gameplay is heavely limmited due to only being able to carry 2 weapons at a time. Seriously wd2 just sucked ass on every level in my opinion, not even hyped for wd3

I miss the weapons of WD1. Not just the larger selection, but the variety you could find on enemies. It was a small detail, but it felt cool seeing street crooks with all sorts of SMGs, pistols, and rifles. In WD2, pretty much every enemy has one of the same 8 guns, which could make sense for cops or private security, but not for criminals who use their own weapons.

Okay so I didn‘t played much of the 2nd game yet but I can definitely say, even tho I didn‘t played it to the end, the first one is way better. The setting in Chicago was so good and walking around the city with the wind blowing in the dark streets was so cool. I felt that. It felt more realistic. I could really put myself into the story and the game. Like the scene where Clara died and you had to kill all those bitches who killed her.. I felt that aswell. The characters also felt a little more like an actual adult and person rather than a hipster hacker who paints graffiti on the wall... The shooting is also wayyy better in the first game. It felt smooth and actually good because Aiden wanted revenge on someone and did everything to found out who that person was and also was a real hero. In WD2... idunno it felt wrong shooting with real military weapons. Because DedSec says they want justice and all that shit but they just can craft a fucking machine gun in a 3D printer. That’s also a feature I totally disagree with. Why the fuck would you have a 3D Printer that prints semi automatic weapons that can fire bullets. That doesn‘t make sense just buy a weapon in a store and that’s it... The shooting mechanics in WD2 also felt like I‘m really shooting with a plastic weapon rather than a real military weapon. In terms of graphics (both games played on PS4) WD2 is ahead of WD. Everything is colorful and the shaders and texture modeling is really good. Aswell as the reflections. But, it depends of your personal opinion which graphics you like more. The graphics of WD1 are fitting more to the Chicago setting but... Y‘know what I mean. The hacking tools are also pretty good in WD2. But the only thing that pissed me the FUCK off where those things you can rotate with those blue lines and where you have to hack yourself into the server. In WD1 you have it in one place on a big screen, everything in one place, in WD2 those things are all over the place and you literally have to walk everywhere to rotate those fucks. That was really annoying. Overall, I think my opinion is clear, I think Watch Dogs is better than its sequel, Watch Dogs 2. I could point out some more things, but that would be too long. Hope y‘all can agree with me and sorry if there were some mistakes grammatically ^^ English is not my mother tongue :)

Most people prefer the second game for the side missions and online play not story as much and while the first game has a gritty feel and great story it was very slow paced. The fist game feels like a gta campaign while the second game feels like gta online. Also the mods in wd2 are there for you nitpickers so you can get the dark lighting and pretend to be Batman I mean aiden😂.
