The engine being non-turbo - naturally aspirated - is also a big factor in durability and expect lifespan of the engine components.

Sorry for posting my comment here but this is your newest post and so far I couldn't find a useful answer for my problem with my 20 plate sportage gt line's nab system. Just updated it 2 weeks ago when I purchased the car and the nav struggles to find pretty much any existing address. I can manually drag the little target circle there on the screen which takes ages, and even the street's name is there, yet the system can't find it when I try to look it up.. any idea why or any solutions for this? Thanks

Is this Hyundai Elantra hybrid model able to compete with Toyota Corolla hybrid...and so on with Toyota models, among other things, in terms of performance values ​​and fuel consumption?.

Great question - especially since they are competitive vehicles. There are comparable for price, with the Elantra generally having a lower MSRP, but that will vary between trims. For fuel economy, the Elantra performs better with a combined fuel economy of 4.7 L/100 km vs the Corolla’s combined 5.7 L/100 km. For cabin space, the Elantra has more usable interior space, so it has more head and leg room (however, the difference is not very large). Elantra has a stronger warranty, and generally you see more tech/safety features in the Elantra for a lower price point. I haven’t driven the ‘24 Corolla Hybrid yet - so I can’t comment on the drive, but I’m sure it drives well too!

Are you sure the 1.6 Liter 4 cyl engine in this application is equipped with direct fuel injection? I only ask because my brother purchased one of the last 2023 Kia Rio's before they were discontinued. Pretty sure that model's 1.6L engine (which I believe is shared with the Hyundai Venue) was changed over from direct injection to simple port injection back around 2020 and now only produces 120 horsepower. Since hybrid vehicles tend to prioritize fuel efficiency versus power, I thought the port-injected version of that engine might be rated for slightly higher mileage figures. Just curious.

They are different :) the last generation of the Rio was a 1.6L MPI - the Elantra hybrid is a 1.6L GDI

Recently watched a review for this vehicle and they said the hybrid powertrain is a combination of the direct injected, turbocharged 1.6L engine and an electric motor. The power is sent through a dual clutch automatic transmission. From what I understand, turbocharged, direct injected engines and dual-clutch transmissions may require more frequent (and potentially more expensive) maintenance over the lifetime of the vehicle versus the naturally aspirated, port injected 2.0L engine used in the lower trims. If that's the case, it's probably important to point out that while the hybrid version can save its driver money by using less fuel, not only are some of those savings offset by the $2,500 higher purchase price, but service expenses might make more of an impact on the vehicle's overall cost of ownership. This factor could alter the equation somewhat in a head-to-head comparison. Perhaps it's worth further analysis in a future video segment.@@BrantfordKia

EV’s aren’t for everyone (and that’s okay). We certainly love Hybrid vehicles because it’s very familiar, but boasts great fuel economy!
