Even though Garnacho scored in the FA youth cup final,it was 17 year old Kobbie Mainoo who stood out for me. It was like watching a seasoned 30 year old pro at the top of his game and playing amongst the kids.He was so composed and his vision absolutely stood out. I said to my son,we've got someone very special here.

@@paulorganisation1Mainoo is much taller than Jack but both have stacked shorter legs. Making them tanks… Powerful, low centre of gravity and an upper body strength that makes them difficult to muscle off the ball. De Jong looks to be the same as well. As Howson says, Mainoo isn’t the quickest and he may struggle with his engine… also signs of having short stocky legs.

ETH deserves a lot of credit for bringing Mainoo into the first team.. Certain sections of our fanbase complained that ETH doesnt give youth a chance and he has no talent ID.. Mainoo has definitely saved us 80-100m on a midfielder and he was at Carrington all along. His IQ, physicality and technical ability is top tier and no surprise he gets to start in the first team.. Just goes to show if the youngsters are truly good enough to impact the team ETH has no issue playing them.. Trust the process.

@@helmner8585you might worry about United's transfers this season and rightfully so (although some would argue that isn't wholly down to the manager) but I don't think you should have any problems with ETH's talent ID. He just left Ajax-where he was very successful at-who are renowned for bringing through youth. The average age in their squad was usually on the low side. You can look at the team that made it to the UCL semi-finals. Their captain was 19! So I don't think spotting, bringing through and establishing talent is a problem ETH has.

the difference is you can see what football and Arteta and Klopp created even when they didnt have 'their players''. ETH has spent 400mill with no style of play to show for and let's not act like the carabao cup wasn't the easiest run in ever.0 goal difference, we're shocking.
@benedictjajo
@benedictjajo 3 ай бұрын
@@thebizness5596first of all, Erik Ten Hag doesn't decide the player's market value. Secondly, it's not ETh's fault Man Utd management is over paying for players. Thirdly, United could have had De Jong for 80 million had they committed to signing him, instead they didn't want to pay his asking price and drag on the talk for 1 whole month only for the talk to breakdown and panic buy Antony who Ajax weren't willing to sell because the offer came late at the end of the transfer window and they did not have the time to look for a replacement. 4th, what did Klop achieve in 10 years with his distinct style of play at Liverpool? 1 UCL and 1 league? Which leads to point number 5, Mourinho and LVG had a distinct style of play at United yet they failed at United. Even if we had brought in Pep or Don Carlo in the last 10 years, we'd still fail because the club management is non existent. Despite all this evidence, you still think the manager is at fault? Are you a gold fish or simply ignorant?

I'm excited for this lad, but I'm excited for him first, and I think that's lost a lot in the hubbub around this kind of talent. United have a kid/barely adult who has worked his whole life to get where he is. Through pain and sweat and heart and effort; studying the game, living it, mastering an art. To see it finally come to fruition - starting for Manchester United in a Manchester Derby and an FA Cup game against Liverpool and really being excellent, being cool, calm, and composed, knowing that the ability he has worked so hard to develop for so long, is being appreciated and respected, and finally showing it to millions of people who want nothing more than to support The Best... Ste, it's really, really breathtaking. If I were in Kobbie's boots, I'd have a soft cry once in a while not because of fortune, but because all of that work is paying off, and it's absolutely magesterial. It's earned and deserved and desired, and we can all see it as fans. Cheers to him. I wish him all the best.

Kobbie is flying like no young midfielder I can remember at United… and I’ve been watching since the early 90’s. You get teen forwards making it into the first 11 and cementing spots. Rashford, Garnacho and all the way back to Giggs. Arriving young and ready to ball in centre mid is rare. Think of the recent greats for United. Scholes took time. He was slowly bled into the first team behind Nicky Butt who got more early cameos. He then became a different player 3 or 4 times during his career. He started out bagging a bunch of goals, arriving late in the box. He was great in the air, a reflection of his youth days as a striker. He played a season as a straight no.10 behind Ruud. Over time he slowly matured into the ball spraying regista we love to think back on. Keane joined United at 22 as a gung ho box to box. He slowly moved deeper as his understanding of the game developed. Carrick joined at 25 and was the closest to already being what he was going to be. I didn’t see much of him at West Ham but his career trajectory from a young silky forward was re-routed after a growth spurt and injuries. Loosing his pace perhaps helped define his role. Who knows what Mainoo will become… but like Howson keeps saying, he already plays like a man with bags of experience. The closest comparison I can think of right now, and this is very premature, is Jude Bellingham. Young but mature, calm, presence, ahead of the curve and a skillset that will see him thrive in a number of positions.
@philiq18
@philiq18 3 ай бұрын
Spot on! Mainoo's potential is limitless. Came into PL with the maturity of a player in his prime. You can see how much the team is at ease when he's holding the ball. Bruno looks more relaxed and doesn't end up overlapping Mainoo as he tends to do with players he thinks he needs to backup. As long as EtH's at United, Mainoo's position will be as a midfield specialist. EtH has a vision for him in his Starting XI -- we saw glimpses of that pre-season. Mainoo will only get better season over season. Here's to hoping he remains injury-free! 🙏

I think we started to see the limits to greenwood's game near the end of his career. His decision making didn't seem to be improving much, he was never physical enough to compete with center backs and he never really seemed that aggressive. Maybe he could have added more to his game over time but you can already see a lot more versatility in garnacho. Ofc he doesn't have Mason's outrageous two footed finishing ability but there's more to a modern singer than just putting in the net when you're in a shooting position.

As an arsenal fan I have to say Mainoo from the small amount of games ive seen him in has a high footballing IQ for this age and will no doubt be a baller as a 8 going forward . He has great ball carrying and passing ability and he can dictate the tempo of the game knows when to slow things down and retain the ball or go forward and creates scoring chances for his teammates. He has great vision and fairly precise distribution.On a defensive contributions level he is timely with interceptions and tackles. His adaptability to different positions is also on a ridiculous level and has bags of agility in tight half spaces as well as amazing composure for this age. I cant see him failing at united he seems to be getting better and better in every game I see him in and doesn't shy away in difficult games and big games . United just need a certified 6 really like Amadou Onana which I hope arsenal can get.

He's obviously very skilled, I think the comparison with Seedorf is spot on. I don't think he would look out of place as a 6, 8, 10 or winger. I do worry that he falls into a similar category as Mount where long term, if he doesn't have a set position, people will start questioning his ability over more specialist players because he's not got a set position (something that also happened to Seedorf). The mentality is the bit that amazes me. He looks so experienced and composed. Waited for his opportunity, had that patience, and then comes in not thinking about playing the hollywood pass, or doing crazy skills, or trying to score from 40 yards. He made a goal line clearance, he settled the team into a rhythm, he helped play out the back. He was doing the things you expect veteran players to do, and not because he doesn't have ability to do those big flashy things. Can you imagine if Pogba had that kind of temperament?

Kobbie's breakthrough (for me) has almost made up for such a disappointing season. You watch this guy play and just know we have a world beater in our squad. We need to build the team around him.

He’s been getting pulled off in the second half of matches one because he’s building his fitness base but he’s also covering the significant amount of ground and that is causing him to fatigue faster. Our midfield is so wide-open that he needs to run all over the place at times.

I think the Thiago comparison is a good one. I really think that as Mainoo matures, he's only going to get better and better. Hopefully he can stay healthy and becomes what becomes a top level player.

Fitzgerald. Mantato are all talented, but Shea Lacey is a different gravy. Shea Lacey will be in the Maino's bracket. He is a joy to be hold. His technical ability is ridiculously off the charts. My only worry for Lacey is physique, still looks a bit fragile to me, unlike Mainoo who looks like a beast for his age.

Steve, you do get carried away. For me, he has a lot of attributes, which make his development exciting. I wait for players to play 100 games before assessing their impact. My focus will be on how the manager or his replacement looks after his game time.

He's best as a 6 man . Intelligence composure and decisions are paramount for a dlp . I don't care if he can beat his man with a trick , that just helps him in tight spaces and when he does venture forward (we need to break away from thinking 6's don't join the attack...because they do ) but more importantly it is his ability to bring the ball out of defence that makes him best for the 6 role . I know he's a threat going forward but his best attributes are for the 6 position, again not arsed if he dribbles past players , that's just a string for the bow . . . Lisando Martinez has a better first touch and vision than Bruno but he's still better at centre half . . .

Much as a i agree in part with you. I think to get the best out of his technical ability he is best suited for central midfield, 8. INEOS should try and bring in another super-talented young player like Jao Neves, who can play more as a 6. My dream is to have Jao Neves and Mainoo play side by side in the midfield, one as a 6 and the other as 8. They could interchange roles or even play as a double pivot.

The thing is, while youngsters are usually not as good as him, they tend to develop over time because they know they’ve to. But with kobbie, hopefully he doesn’t get stuck with his current level.

I'm looking at Kobbie at how good he is now in a half decent team. Then I think how good he would be in a great team like our '08 CL team. How good would he be playing alongside Scholes & Carrick. Absolutely crazy! Man, we have gem on our hands. We have got to protect him against that d-bag Southgate. I'm happy for him on his call-up, but there is no way in hell I'm letting him play for Southgate. UTFR UTFP ❤

he's the best possession midfield that we have since Carrick and Scholes, for me what he need to work on is kicking power whether on shooting or long pass, and maybe dynamic positioning, if he master that he can be doing what Modric do now in madrid. if we have one more midfield who have similar ball retention ability, with better CB, we absolutely can play possession football.

IMHO Mainoo is showing the level of class, talent & ability that Ryan Giggs first showed coming into the United team at 17. If I had to say what his ceiling was, it is that he beats Giggs appearance record and wins everything across the board in his career.

I was watching the Liverpool game with headphones the other night while my wife watched a movie. She had to keep telling me to be quiet because every time Mainoo got the ball, i was making noises as if I was about to jizz my pants. When he did that run past 3 or 4 defenders, i actually woke one of my kids up because i got so hyped 😂 The lad is going to be absolutely elite. I just hope he stays with us for his whole career because I wouldnt be surprised if the likes of Real are already sniffing around.

So impressive I hope he doesn’t listen to all the hype and just keeps working on his craft. A lot of our players showed good on the ball ability against Liverpool, which is impressive because Liverpool press so hard but by doing so they gamble. Mainoo absolutely pulled out the fancy stuff because he plays at a different speed then those Liverpool players

as good as he is at his age, he still has a number of areas he needs to improve on, he still needs to master his defensive positioning, needs to learn how to eat up space when defending, long balls passing accuracy, long range shooting, long range shooting technique, jumping, heading, expand his vision to see the foward line breaking pass, playmaking, and some other ones i might not see. i feel the reason why we are so excited about him (and rightly so) is the thought about what he could become, especially as the hardest aspect of any young players development (which is decision making) is already covered. he'll just need to get better at it and all these other improvements will need to be mastered to a very high level and he will become captain after bruno either leaves or retires. we just pray he can achieve his potential to the fullest.

He already the best passer in the team and he keeps the ball better than anybody in our team too, so yes he's got stuff to learn but he's already our most consistent player. Which probably says more about our squad than his great talent. I'm looking forward to watching him develop more because already a joy to watch.

Not sure about the relentless overdoing of this lad and let him just develop. All this doesn’t help. He’s been really good for us so far but comparing to Thiago who played in one of best football teams of all time (Barca) and Bayern and a very good Liverpool side. Kobbies got a lot of TOP class performances to get to that standard. To be top class, players have to be ‘game breakers’ which means turning games single handedly he’s not done that yet. He’s put very mature performances together so far but nothing more. Let him develop let him play. Don’t burn him out. UTFR
