Great video! A lot of these tips are why I Stan this plug-in. I wonder if using Hold keyframes on the Weight would alleviate the issue at 5:39, it certainly helps similar issue with the connector. Bonus tip: A step can be reduced at 7:47 by holding CTRL with the Child layer selected, it will auto-parent the new controller.
@TheKeyframeAcademy2 жыл бұрын
Tried the hold keyframe, doesn't seem to address the issue at all. I've reached out to DUDUF directly to see if they are aware of the issue or not.
@rxlab2 жыл бұрын
@@TheKeyframeAcademy Hi, Duduf here ;) I've just stumbled upon the video, which is great! There may be two reasons for the issue: - either it's because of the performance optimizations the constraint has to do; in this case, the workaround is to raise the "motion blur precision" value in the effect; that forces Duik to compute subframe interpolation - or it's because at the time the weight is turned to 100%, the current frame is ignored. In this case, moving the weight keyframes a frame earlier should fix the issue Let me know if any of these worked!

The only downside of this is the lag, which really slows down your previews even on a fast computer. It's still worth it just for the organization, but it's a thing to consider.

That's such a good video, as always! 😁 2:59 Never explored that parent constraint feature and although it seams it can be really useful, I feel like I won't use it because of that 5:52 "bug". I knew about the power of connectors, but seeing the real world applications you showed it just opens my mind for new possibilities. Thank you so much for the knowledge John! 👍

I know! It's such a bummer about the buggy parent constraint. I included it in hopes that someone might provide an answer as to why it does that.
@matthewroberts72443 жыл бұрын
@@TheKeyframeAcademy would it work to use DUIK to do the grunt work with the parenting constraint, then you could potentially switch to baked KF (maybe using something like 'easy bake)' - enabling a fix for wonky glitchy frames? It's not ideal, but could still be a quicker way to get the results needed than just doing it all by hand?
@TheKeyframeAcademy3 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but that is something I'll have to try.
@chloelewis56032 жыл бұрын
5:57 One thing that might fix this (not tested) is to double or quadruple ur frame rate, place a frame where the glitch was after correcting the assets position and then revert back to the lower frame rate. This Key frame will not be visible but should still exist and might fix the problem.

Great stuff and tutorial sir! Unfortunately I didnt't manage to get the bicep to grow when dragging the IK Hand Controller as shown at 12:28. For me it seems you didn't explain how to parent the hand IK controller to the rotation of the forarm. I mean you explained how to drive the bicep's bending via the rotation of the forarm but it the end you used the IK Hand Controller (which of course is a lovely result!) I would be more than happy to get help here! Maybe I just missunderstood something here. Thank you!
@TheKeyframeAcademy3 жыл бұрын
The rotation of the forearm is driven by the IK controller. So you don't parent the Controller to the rotation of the forearm. You don't parent the IK controller to anything. You link keyframes of the bicep line that draws on to the rotation of the forearm, which will rotate as you drag the controller around (if you rigged the arm correctly)

Structure layers slow down AE so much that I still think that it's probably easier to UNrig everything, make changes, and re rig everything up. Just my opinion though. 😀

Just split the ball layer in midle air and just use one parenting for each part.
@TheKeyframeAcademy2 жыл бұрын
you could do this sure, but then if you need to make any adjustments to the animation you've got to make those adjustments to both layers so that they always meet where you split the layers. You're just creating more work for yourself.
