Hi Johnny! Are you still using opensuse kde? I'm torn between kde and gnome which I really like using. If I can get kde to function similar to gnome, I will switch. 😀 I've tried opensuse several times. Love the installer! It seems really solid. I'm using Ubuntu as well as Debian gnome and was thinking of trying Manjaro KDE and or gnome as well.

People listen...do NOT go through EVERY option...at least not upon initial install. Give yourself a few Saturdays, and even a few Sunday afternoons to go through all of them. Mark my words, you'll be engrossed with the number of options and you'll actually "lose time". In other words...you'll start going through all the options at say....12 noon?...and by the time you've gotten through the THEMES, ICONS, and WIDGETS options?.....it'll be 8PM! LoL! Hahahahaha!!!

Do not ever do opi install codecs. Use codecs available in normal repo in yast instead. If you try to install codecs from pacman it will try and switch vendor for 50-60 packages. Problem is it tries to switch vendor for ENTIRE Mesa driver stack, Vulkan libraries, VLC. . . and Discord of all things. While VLC is somewhat acceptable the rest is not. Never ever switch vendor or install actual critical system drivers from some random dude repository. It is very dangerous, will fk up your system if newer official kernel happen to expect different/newer/official drivers, may lead to massive issues for gaming and it is literally pointless. Video codecs do not require modded drivers.

Ys, the installer is a very powerful tool, you can configure your setup to select which partitions you want to use, make or use a separate home partition (VERY GOOD IDEA!!), mount any partition wherever you want, select what packages you want to install. set up firewall and many other settings. It's not a click one button installer. It is slower than most, but you wind up with a system set up the way you want, duel booting into windows or more linux installs. Take your time, go through all the selections, know what you want and you will wind up with a great install

Nice video - making it easier for me to decide which distro I want instead of kubuntu. One thing that is annoying as everything is your use of the phrase "go ahead", For example," We'll go ahead and download that and then go ahead and install it and after go ahead and update it while we go ahead and start something else, and go ahead to do the 4rth thing while all that other stuff is going to go ahead and finish up". Absolutely, ridiculous. Understand how habit forming some phrases are, but on KZbin and patreon videos you should curb your enthusiasm to use them repeatedly in every or every other sentence as it becomes annoying to the viewer.

Imagine being that much of a language pedant. It does not matter in the slightest, nor does make it "difficult to listen to." You are just annoyed personally. Also, it does add to what he's saying. It is perfectly acceptable to use a redundant phrase for emphasis. Saying "do X," and "go ahead and do X" mean the same thing, but the latter emphasizes it. Why do you feel the need to require the Queen's English in an informal environment, Mr. 'Better English than thou'? Save your fingers. Type less.
@berniesutton72775 ай бұрын
@dkimbe there's no emphasis by saying "go ahead" 84 times in one presentation. As you said, it's redundant, i.e., unnecessary
@dkimbe5 ай бұрын
@@berniesutton7277 In informal speech, one is allowed to be redundant. Whether he adds "go ahead" or not, it is completely acceptable. You may as well say: 'he should cut down and edit literally every single word he says till it's just what's absolutely necessary to follow along.' People don't speak in APA formatting; language doesn't work like that. You understand what he means perfectly so it doesn't matter. You're acting as if the video was made twice as long and near unintelligible, as if listening to it physically disgusts you. Coming back and just saying "it doesn't emphasize", after I've clearly pointed out that it's informal speech and doesn't matter, is not an argument.

Updates are rolled out on a continuous basis including operating system-wide upgrades. Operating systems that aren't rolling release such as Ubuntu come out with a solid version (ie 20.04) that won't have any drastic updates unless if you manually upgrade. Rolling release distributions don't usually have a version number because it's just that rolling.
