My father has been a mechanic for 40+ years. Getting customers to understand that maintenance is crucial and not just beneficial on VW cars has always been a struggle for him. Most notably, people opting not to change the timing belt on a 1.8t at 120k miles.

Great tips! After you do all this and before you tune the car I would recommend a carbon cleaning on the intake and adding a good oil catch can system. These direct injection cars can really build up a good amount of carbon deposits on the intake valves when running hard. Hope this helps.

I had an 06 A4 and I did not take care of it. I drop it to 5miles left in the dash and neglected maintenance aside from Oil, Breaks and antifreeze. Deeply regret it because the car only lasted me just over 130k miles. I then got a new truck and realized that the problem was me and changed my ways with how to actually take care car. I’m looking to go back to Audis again since my career changed from construction to engineering.

First thing I did after going stage 1 was new plugs and catch can (along with intake and turbo inlet). NGK7’s. Got my car tuned at 49kish. Fun upgrades come after responsible upgrades. Haldex service was next on my list actually soon (in terms of services)

@@savagepandaprojects how much should I expect to pay for a Haldex service and a DSG service?
@Golfr2020 Жыл бұрын
All good points and I covered those on mine except different coil. One thing not mentioned and is of the utmost importance before doing a stage 1 tune, should you have a fairly new car. Make sure it has done a decent amount of km or miles for engine components to wear in and settle. I am talking about 20,000km at least.

I have to agree with the other comments, great video. Just did the APR stage 1 high-torque ECU on my S3. Based on reviews I’ve read, I think I’m going to pass on the ignition coil packs. Seem to cause some headaches based on what I read. Spark plugs ordered because of this, and I have to do the services now after seeing this vid. I am on the fence about the TCU tune, but I am thinking that might need to happen.
@savagepandaprojects3 жыл бұрын
We've installed plenty of APR ignition coils with zero issues. Main thing is running the correct gap on plugs. Definitely good move to get the tcu upgrade as well. Thanks for checking out the video!
@MrCyaltrbye3 жыл бұрын
@@savagepandaprojects TCU is a must in your book? And okay on the coil packs; just go with APR? The guy that did my tune said that my coils were replaced at some point because they were operating perfectly. But worth it to go APR? Last thing, cold air intake - also APR? They look cool. Just curious if there’s better options
@savagepandaprojects3 жыл бұрын
@@MrCyaltrbye definitely need the tcu tune for high torque. Coils are optional totally up to you. The tune is totally worth it. Makes a world of a difference. Dm me on ig if you have any more questions or would like to order performance parts. Glad to help!

Old vid but i hope u can respond still- i was looking at a 2018 a3 quattro and i havent trst drove it yet but on the dealer website it says its got 91k miles. Is that too much? Should i consider spending more looking for one with lower miles?
@savagepandaprojects3 ай бұрын
Whats happening, yes you can certainly get well over 100k on the Gen 3 MQB motors when maintained correctly. They don't really have timing chain issues as the older one had like on the MK6 golfs etc. Would plan for a water pump as that is one of the most common failures. That would also be the appropriate time to do carbon clean as well. On an individual level myself I'd try to get lower mileage just to have a bit more peace of mind but that's just me. This car in video was eventually sold at 55k miles and had zero issues at the time. (was APR stage 3 IS38 turbo)
