Couldn’t agree more with the intake part of it. Part of driving your car is the smiles the induction sound brings as well as how quick the car actually is
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
I mean regardless of power numbers if you have that induction noise you’ll always smile 😀
@henrycalderon10633 жыл бұрын
Agree with the tune because many people want to keep their car relatively stock but just quicker. Great point
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
That’s the best part about it. The stock to stage 1 is a massive leap in power. If you’re someone who doesn’t want to do anything else it’s the best money you can spend
@enzojiles30683 жыл бұрын
Downpipe is huge in this so glad you touched on how it’s a critical part in going further into the tuning realm. Any stage 2 style tune will need some sort of higher flowing downpipe
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely. Downpipe is one of the best mods you can do for performance as well as sound
@dallasmitchell38783 жыл бұрын
Honestly intercooler is such a huge upgrade. Even from factory the intercooler on these cars aren’t great. Adding more power makes that situation worse. Great to add it into the video. Keep it up
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! The heat soak sucks so much on these. Intercooler for me is coming ASAP
@landonwilkins39533 жыл бұрын
Can you run an upgraded intercooler without tuning?(planning on tuning once I save up again)
@gmahvlus75673 жыл бұрын
I would agree these are the first 5 anyone should do. I would add for the intercooler, I would recommend upgrading your intercooler hoses and your turbo outlet hoses. As a sixth mod, I did my exhaust, going with Milltek valveless but with muffler and resonator. My S3 is my daily and I do like the sound of it 98%. There is certain times the note of the Exhaust doesn’t sound great but mostly it does. Note APR has discontinued their downpipe. ☹️
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Intercooler is huge on this cars! The good thing at least about the stock exhaust besides the downpipe is they are capable of high hp numbers. Exhaust is a good one too. Personally idk what I want to do. I’m not sure whether to get a catback system or if I should just to the res delete and call it a day. I don’t want the car too too loud as now that I’m getting older (closer to my 30s) I appreciate a nice tame exhaust note
@charlieshells85737 ай бұрын
Keep your cat back with the resonator and just upgrade your downpipe. Trust me.@@DArias

Great advice! Awesome video man. Agree with all this. Another good one if someone chooses it if you want to consider it “performance” is suspension upgrades. Sway bars, coils or springs etc
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
Thank you man! And yes I consider suspension as a performance mod as it allows the car to drive and handle better. Def a good way to go if your focus is to have the best driving car possible for spirited driving

Whats up Diego. Love how helpful the content is, really appreciate the time you take to educate someone a little less car savvy than others 😅 I have a question about the inlet pipe. I have a DVX that came with my used audi and added an IE intake. I want to add the inlet pipe but have seen problems on different forums with fitment. Have you heard anything on this? Thanks man.
@SuperGurrier5 ай бұрын
Im suprised no company has come up with a solution like relocating the sports cat section further back on these, like the gains from a catless downpipe and relocating a sports cat core to say where the resonator section is. On a tuned car it would free up even more power and most importantly you would get much better throttle response and still retain a token cat (code out eml with a tune)

Hesitant on buying a downpipe because I really need an exhaust and it seems like any aftermarket exhaust paired with and aftermarket downpipe are either too loud or sound like shit
@DArias2 жыл бұрын
You’re absolutely right. These cars are fantastic but at the same time it’s SOOOO hard to make them sound good. Which is the reason I’ve stayed away from a catback and just run the downpipe to the stock rear muffler

Informative video, thank you. Any advice on type of Stage 1 tune? Using a Cobb device/EQT vs a pure flash tune like Revo? Revo seems to be very popular in the UK and Europe but show comparable output numbers to Cobb.

Have you had any issues with your s3 since you’ve tuned it? If yes, what issues? I am a little nervous staging the vehicle, having my warranty voided and something bad going wrong. (even with proper maintenance) Thanks for the videos man
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
So far I have had no problems at all! And I tuned the car almost immediately after getting it. About 8 months in now and nothing. Just make sure you stick to the proper fluids and maintenance. Also how many miles on yours? If yours is low miles I wouldn’t worry. At higher mileage then I would def do a good look over on the car before throwing more power at it

if i'm considering getting performance parts in the future, as in planning for a stage 2 maybe 3, does it make sense to get the ecu tuned at first? i'm wondering if it would have to be retuned afterwards. i just got a 2018 a3, very new to the car scene

My first upgrade on my S3 before anything else was a usp catch can and pcv delete, saves all that junk from building up on your valves. And out of your engine.

you really think the inlet hose is that important? I tried a couple, and just didnt feel anything, plus it fit worse than oem. you still feel that way now?
@LastHumansGarage3 жыл бұрын
i might reconsider it bro..
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
Tbh yeah and maybe it was placebo but switching from the CTS to the MST I felt even more of a difference. I feel the throttle response is much better and makes the car feel more “open” (if that makes sense) at WOT. And you say it didn’t fit right? Was it loose for you?
@LastHumansGarage3 жыл бұрын
@@DArias ah ive tried a few brands, the hose never lined up with the flange perfectly. may have been my stiff hose. i would agree it makes it more "open" but to me, that also means "looser" at bottom end.
