Great review 👍🏻. One tip (works with all helmets with vent holes inside, use foam ear plugs, roll them like putting in your ear, push one into each hole you want to block, but dont push it completely in, leave a small amount sticking out so you can easily remove it when the weather gets warmer. The foam expands to fill the hole and seals it.

Your review is amazing and full of useful information. I can confirm your first point that Arai Quantic’s cushion and pads felt like natural pair of soft bosom caressing my head. And the Shoei Z7 felt like a pair of overfilled salt water bags pushing against my head. I tested them back to back. I went with the Shoei because it’s lighter, cheaper, with the graphics I really like and I can get the Shoei personal fitting service for a custom fit in my country. Otherwise I would have went for the Arai Quantic.

Best review so far, totally agree on negatives. Had mine for 2 weeks now and am struggling with it. Wind noise is terrible and I'm currently (unsuccessfully) trying a range of ear plugs to dampen it. D rings are really awkward to unfasten. The visor opening latch is awkward to open and distracts my attention from the road. After fitting the supplied pin lock I had a struggle to locate one of the two locating hinges back into place, it located in the end but by luck more than skill. I strongly recommend purchasing one from a supplier that provides a free fitting and pad adjustment service. I did not and the cheek pads on mine were too tight (standard ones are 25mm) The supplier wanted £55 to supply 20mm pads even though I had not worn the helmet on my bike and all of the stickers were still in place. Believe it or not I cured the tightness issue by placing the helmet on its side arranging a heavy melon on top of the left cheek pad for 24 hrs then repeated this process on the right cheek pad!!! Probably not the right way to go but it worked and saved me £55. The helmet is now very comfortable and I will now have to work through the other issues. I have complete confidence in the safety of this Quantic helmet.

Glad I helped you! I must tell you, though, that the front part of the SHOEI chin curtain snaps securely in the curved shaped chin area of the helmet. The two small plastic “flaps” at the edges of the curtain that snap behind the cheek pads won’t snap in place and may keep getting out while taking your helmet off. I overcame that problem by using a thin wire, and after drilling a tiny hole in each plastic “flap”, I managed to tie them with the plastic parts of the Arai liner. Everything is hidden behind the liner, and the Shoei curtain is 100% stable!

@@ferit7418 don't try to remove the Arai curtain. Just snap the plastic part of the Shoei curtain in between. Tip: "The front part of the SHOEI chin curtain snaps securely in the curved shaped chin area of the helmet. @@MotonJoy Thank you for the answer but there is no place to really snap them. They come of right away. I push the Shoei chin curtain plastics in between helmet wall and arai chin curtain. Ήμουν ένα βήμα από το να επιλέξω το Quantic από το nxr2 παρότι κάτοχος shoei rx1200 και rx1100. Το δοκίμασα και ένιωσα να κουμπώνει τέλεια στο κεφάλι μου, δε θα κρύψω ότι ίσως με βοηθησες να αποφύγω μια λάθος επιλογή, σε ευχαριστώ για αυτό. Θα τσεκαρω schuberth και εν συνεχεία ίσως επιλέξω πάλι shoei. Σε ευχαριστώ, κατατοπιστικότατος.

Nice review, I made one too of this helmet and noticed the problem with raising the visor later with the pro shade although I keep it closed most of the time, there is a benefit however of no fogging of the sun visor :) . When the visor is in the slightly open position you feel the air only on the left side too which is a little odd sensation but overall I like the helmet.

Thank you for insightful review. I randomly found this video and the short chin pad problem is something I also have and didn't realize it when I bought the helmet just 2 weeks ago. Now I ordered the Shoei chin pad and waiting for it's arrival to fix it. Thanks again for the solution hopefully it will solve my issue as well. I have a question with the visor. I used my previous helmet with dark and clear visor but it is a bit of hassle to change and carry. And I want to use Quantic helmet with only one visor. I have trouble during the day as sun light effects my eyes a lot. I either think of getting proshade like you have or I think about using my sunglasses because I think dark smoke visor will be a problem at night on Autobahn and light smoke visor is no use during the day. Are you happy with proshade? How does it feel when proshade it is risen on high speed? Does it aerodynamically affect the helmet? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your comment! I am happy you found my video helpful. Proshade does not affect the helmet aerodynamically, even left risen at high speeds. I only feel small lateral pressures if it is still up on powerful crosswinds. Overall, I am happy with it, although I always carry sunglasses with me to wear when riding slowly (within a city, for example), and I want to have my visor open to cool down my face.

Καλησπέρα! Έχει περάσει πολύς καιρός από τότε που τοποθέτησα το υποσιάγωνο και έκτοτε δεν το ξαναέβγαλα. Οπότε, για να είμαι ειλικρινής δεν θυμάμαι αν όταν το πρωτοέβαλα είχε βοηθήσει στο θέμα θορύβου-σφυρίγματος. Προσωπικά, μεγάλη αύξηση στον θόρυβο διαπιστώνω όταν ανοίγω τους δύο αεραγωγούς στο πάνω μέρος του κράνους, γιαυτό τους έχω ως επί τω πλείστον κλειστούς. Επίσης λίγο θόρυβο εντοπίζω και από την ζαλατίνα η οποία δεν σφραγίζει στο λάστιχο πλήρως όταν κλείσει, παρότι την έχω ρεγουλάρει πολλές φορές.

Για το θέμα με τον αέρα που μπαίνει από κάτω στο κράνος έχεις πράγματι πολύ δίκιο αλλά το θέμα λύνεται και χωρίς υποσιάγωνο της shoei απλά κατεβάζοντας το σπόιλερ του πηγουνιού (είναι κρυμμένο μέσα στο πηγούνι) έχοντας τοποθετημένο και το υποσιάγωνο!

Φοράω γυαλιά οράσεως. Δεν παίζει ποτε να βάλω φακούς κατα τη διάρκεια οδήγησης. Μόνο με αυτά βλέπω 100% σωστά. Αυτό που έχουν κάνει με το sunvisor ειναι απαγορευτικό για εμένα. Τους καλοκαιρινούς μήνες στην Ελλάδα που η θερμοκρασία φτάνει 35 βαθμούς για πλάκα, κατα τη διάρκεια ενός ηλιοβασιλέματος, έχω κατεβασμένο το sunvisor και ανοιχτή τη ζελατίνα. Έτσι, δεν με τυφλώνει ο έντονος κατεβασμένος ήλιος και παίρνω πολύ περισσότερο αέρα απο αυτόν που θα έπαιρνα με τον καλύτερο αεραγωγό full ανοιχτό έχοντας τη ζελατνίνα κλειστή. Το καταλαβαίνω πως λόγω ασφάλειας το βάζουν απ'εξω αλλα μου φαίνεται υπερβολικό ταυτόχρονα. Ζηλέυω τα μαξιλαράκια της και το πως έχει δομήσει τις εσωτερικές επενδύσεις. Για όλα τα άλλα δεν θα είχα πρόβλημα. Θα τα συνήθιζα. Ομολογώ πως θα το αγόραζα όμως τώρα που βγήκε το shoei GT Air 3, ίσως ειναι η καλύτερη επιλογή για εμένα. Ο λόγος που δεν το αγοράζω ειναι καθαρά το sunvisor και τίποτα άλλο. Είναι ότιο πιο άβολο θα μπορούσε να βιώσει ένας χρήστης σαν εμένα. όταν ταξιδεύω κάνω πολλά χλμ. Θα με πιάσει η νύχτα στο 95% τον περιπτώσεων σε κάποιον βουνίσιο δρόμο χωρίς φώτα. Ούτε μπορώ να κουβλάω αντηλιακές επιστρώσεις για τα γυαλιά οράσεως καθώς υπάρχουν στιγμές που θα ήθελα να έχω τον απόλυτο ελεγχο της σκιάς που θέλω στα μάτια μου, ούτε με βολέυει η φιμέ ζελατίνα για τον ίδιο λόγο και ούτε με βολευει το arai sun visor για όλους τους λόγους που είπες... Κρίμα γιατι ειναι αξιοζήλευτο κράνος. Μεγάλο κρίμα που χρησιμοποιεί τέτοιες ιδιαιτερότητες και απο εκεί πουα θα έπρεπε να στο κάνει πιο άνετο το ταξίδι, στο κάνει πολύ πιο δύσκολο. Το shoei gt air 3 έχει το μειονέκτημα πως δεν χρησιμοποιεί doube D Ring. Ανεκτό μέν, καθώς έχω κράνη με μικρομετρικό απο την άλλη, τίποτα πιο ασφαλές απο το double D ring.

Φίλε πριν παρεις οποιοδήποτε κράνος δοκίμασε τα πρωτα, το κράνος το φοράμε για ασφάλεια κ οχι για μοστρα.

Όπως έγραψα και παραπάνω είμαι κάτοχος κ των δυο εταιρειών και βλέπω πως η shoei για να ευχαριστήσει το τμήμα μαρκετινγκ έχει κάνει εκπτώσεις όπως η έλλειψη double D ring, έχει λεπτοτερο στρώμα πολυστερινης, σαφώς λεπτοτερο κέλυφος κλπ κλπ... Ο λόγος που η Arai αρνήθηκε να βάλει το φιμέ τζαμακι εσωτερικά είναι γιατί παρατηρήθηκε πως σε πτώση Ο μηχανισμός μπορεί να δημιουργήσει επιπλέον κακώσεις στους κροταφους

Εξαιρετική ανάλυση και πολύ καλά τα λές.... Πρόσθεσε στα μειονεκτήματα της ζελατίνας με το φιμε ζελατινάκι την βροχή!!! κάνε ένα πείραμα και θα δεις τι θα συμβεί κατά το κατέβασμα της φιμέ σε ήλιο μετά απο βροχή κλπ.... θα μήνουν σταγόνες ενδιάμεσα στις 2 ζελατίνες και δεν θα βλέπεις τίποτα καθώς θα απλώσουν. Αυτό το φιμε ζελατινακι είναι αντιγραφή απο κρανος ΝΟΛΑΝ 30 ετών πρίν που είχα... και απο οτι φαίνεται κάπου εκεί έχει μείνει η Αραι με τις δικαιολογίες περι μεγιστης ασφάλειας..... Καλή η Αραι αλλά νισαφι πια.... πολλά λεφτα για αυτό που δίνει... και στο λεει κάτοχος πολλών αραι.... Εξαιρετική η ποιότητα της, εκτιμώ οτι σε αυτό είναι χωρίς αντίπαλο με βάρος κράνους πολύ καλοζυγισμένο αλλά πρέπει να ξεφύγει από τα καλούπια της και να φτιάξει κατι καινούργιο.

Συμφωνώ μαζί σου ... άκουγα κι εγώ περί ARAI όλη την ώρα ... η αλήθεια είναι ότι μοιάζει με αρτηριοσκληρωτική εταιρεία που δεν μπορεί να μπορεί να ξεφύγει από τα κολλήματά της. Anyway, για ότι αγοράζουμε και χρησιμοποιούμε υπάρχουν υπέρ και κατά. Ο χρόνος θα δείξει αν η ARAI θα καταφέρει να επιβιώσει στον σκληρό ανταγωνισμό που υπάρχει εκεί έξω.

@@MotonJoy Ακόμα και αν έχουν πέσει οι πωλήσεις της λόγω του μεγάλου ανταγωνισμού αλλά και των δυσμενών οικονομικών συνθηκών, μάλλον για αρκετό καιρό θα φτιάχνει τα ίδια. Το κόστος επένδυσης σε νέο σχεδιασμό κέλυφους και εσωτερικών, κατασκευαστικές μήτρες κλπ, είναι εξαιρετικά υψηλό... αν και εφαρμόσιμο αλλά πώς θα αλλάξει τα λεγόμενα της μετά την τόση επιμονή της στα ίδια και τα ίδια....? Άλλωστε το κόστος των συνθετικών υλικών σε τέτοιες κατασκευές αλλά και παρόμοιες... π.χ βαλίτσες είναι τρομερά χαμηλό... οπότε προκύπτει ένα τεράστιο κέρδος με μεγάλα αποθεματικά για την εταιρία, που μπορεί να συνεχίσει να επιμένει στα ίδια, έχοντας και ένα φανατικό κοινό να την ακολουθεί, που βαίνει όμως συνεχώς μειούμενο. Καλή συνέχεια...

Θα συμφωνήσω,εν μέρει. Ναί η ασφάλεια είνα το Α και το Ω...αλλά ανέκαθεν οι αεραγωγοί ήταν προβληματικοί! Φθηνό πλαστικό κι άσχημο άνοιγμα-κλείσιμο! Και οι αεραγωγοί στη ζελατίνα μπάζουν νερά. Δεδομένου οτι οδηγώ γυμνό όλο το χρόνο αυτό είναι θέμα. Ο κολλητός μου σφράγισε 3d κι αεραγωγούς ζελατίνας με κόλλα στιγμής μιας και είχε μπαηλντίσει ο άνθρωπος!! Βέβαια η αίσθηση στο κεφάλι είναι πολύ... πιο βελούδινη από SHOEI αλλά το δεύτερο έχει φανταστικό μηχανισμό, εύκολο κούμπωμα και υδατοστεγή σφράγιση ζελατίνας. Πιο πρακτικούς, ποιοτικούς και σίγουρους αεραγωγούς. Και φυσικα τα SHOEI είναι πολύ πιο αθόρυβα. Βέβαια αυτό ισχύει για μένα που το κράνος είναι εκτεθιμένο στον αέρα στα γρήγορα χμ. Ίσως σε μια πιο τουριστάδικη μηχανή με ψιλή ζελατίνα και το ARAI να γίνεται αθόρυβο. Όπως και να έχει πήρα το απίστευτης αεροδυναμικής NXR2. Επίσης ECE22-06 κι ασφαλέστατο! Ξαναλέω ότι το ARAI φαινεται πιο ποιοτικό και σίγουρα η ασφάλειά του απίστευτη! Αλλά όλα τα υπόλοιπα με οδήγησαν αλλού.

Περιγραφικότατος και σαφέσταστος, τα είπες όλα! Αυτή είναι η πραγματικότητα.👌 Πριν λίγους μήνες αγόρασα και το Shoei Hornet Adv για να το ταιριάξω με το δεύτερο μηχανάκι (CRF300 Rally) που αγόρασα, συγκριτικά έχω να παραθέσω τα εξής: QUANTIC-->Περισσότερος θόρυβος, οι μηχανισμοί κλεισίματος αεραγωγών και ζελατίνας δίνουν την αίσθηση χαλαρής-φτηνιάρικης λειτουργίας, ο 3D logo αεραγωγός μπάζει αέρα (για νερό δεν ξέρω, δεν τον δοκίμασα σε ακραία βροχή), η ζελατίνα κλείνει μεν αλλά δεν σφραγίζει στο λάστιχό της, μπορείς χαλαρά να περάσεις ένα φύλλο χαρτί ανάμεσα (ζελατίνα-λάστιχο), ΑΛΛΑ, παρότι βαρύτερο, είναι πολύ καλά ζυγισμένο και το αισθάνομαι ελαφρύτερο από το SHOEI, η αίσθηση στο κεφάλι πολύ πιο βελούδινη, το Καλοκαίρι πολύ καλή κυκλοφορία αέρα. ADV HORNET-->Πιο αθόρυβο, στιβαροί και απροβλημάτιστοι μηχανισμοί που σφραγίζουν 100%, αν δεν έχεις ικανοποιητικά ψηλό wind screen στην μηχανή τότε έχει πολύ στροβιλισμό, το νιώθω πιο βαρύ παρότι ελαφρύτερο, και τέλος το μεγαλύτερο πρόβλημα είναι ότι κάθε φορά που το βγάζω από το κεφάλι μου τα μάγουλα της εσωτερικής επένδυσης ξεκουμπώνουν επειδή σπρώχνονται προς τα κάτω-έξω από τα άκαμπτα-σκληρά (περίεργα θα έλεγα) αφτιά μου (ελαφρώς πεταχτά), οπότε κάθε φορά που ξαναβάζω το κράνος στο κεφάλι μου πρέπει να κουμπώσω πρώτα τα κλιπς των μάγουλων στο εσωτερικό του κράνους γιατί εάν το ξεχάσω και το φορέσω χωρίς να τα κουμπώσω την επόμενη φορά που θα βγάλω το κράνος τα πλαστικά ξεκούμπωτα κλιπς μου "σκίζουν" τα αφτιά. Αυτό υποθέτω όμως ότι έχει να κάνει με την ανατομία των δικών μου αφτιών!😁🤔

Nice review. I tested quantic at the shop and it felt great, but watching your review makes me not want to buy an airy helmet though I had many arais in the past. Paying 700 euro for making all these mods is not worth it IMO. I ll prolly try another model of arai instead. I can’t understand your opinion that you love a helmet that needs so many mods. I buy a hemet for safety and it’s sealing from air. Sealing of quantic sucks by your review

@@olaage Hello, the truth is that my Shoei curtain started to get off some days ago while taking my helmet off. The problem was at the edges of the curtain under the chick pads. The front part that snaps in the chin area is not moving. So the trick that worked for me was to tie, using some kind of wire (a small patent), the plastic edges of the curtain with the plastic parts of the helmet pads behind the chick pads. It is solid as a rock now!

I like your video and i have question. The biggest question mark in my mind is about exterior sun visor - ventilation relation. In istanbul traffic i usually drive with fully open visor and interior sun visor, good solution but with arai quantic, would it be comfortable to drive in summer with closed visor because of exterior sun visor with low speeds? Is this helmet suitable for city traffic usage in summer?

Hello! The short answer to your question is: No, it is not suitable for city traffic in Summer. When I have to ride in city traffic during a hot summer day, I open the visor to get some air on my face, and then the sun blinds me. The only solution is to wear sunglasses!

Ευχαριστώ πολύ! Το chin mount για την κάμερα το είχα αγοράσει από το Amazon.de, είναι φτιαγμένο για universal χρήση, δηλαδή όχι για το συγκεκριμένο κράνος, αλλά «πάτησε» πολύ καλά στο σχήμα του κράνους και κόλλησε δυνατά.

Hello! The chin curtain is removable for sure, and I believe every other part is also removable. I have only removed the cheek pads so far, though. My old SHOEI was the QWEST model. I’ve never tried the GT AIR 2, so I don’t have an opinion on it. Between the QWEST and the QUANTIC, I personally prefer the later one since it’s more comfortable to wear.

Haha, tricky question. 🤔😁 I don't regret buying the QUANTIC. I would choose it again. Now that I managed to overcome the problems, I enjoy having it on my head! Besides, I like its shape and style more than NXR2.

Γεια σου φίλε μου! Εγώ γενικά προτιμώ τις ενδοεπικοινωνίες της Sena και έχω πάρει 4 διαφορετικά μοντέλα συσκευών από την συγκεκριμένη μάρκα μέχρις στιγμής. Δεν είχα κανένα παράπονο γενικά. Μπορεί κανείς να επιλέξει μία συσκευή ανάλογα με τις δυνατότητες που θέλει να του παρέχει και το budget που διαθέτει φυσικά. Η συγκεκριμένη στο Quantic είναι η Sena - 50S.

Yep, it was a Qwest, of medium size, but I bought the large in the Quantic. The large fits like a glove.

@@MotonJoy I just received it few days ago. I had a Qwest at L size and went with an L as well. Feels a bit narrower but after a few rides it's already feels fitted to the head. Regarding the visor, I had problem at first opening it not understanding how to open it. But I found out that you need to push the tab latreally and then up, and not up imeddiatley like most helmets. When you push it outside (latreally) the latch is able to release...

Καλησπέρα, στο Shoei Qwest φορούσα το medium, ενώ στο Quantic επέλεξα το Large. Δεν ξέρω πως έγινε αυτό, πάντως το medium στο Shoei Nxr που δοκίμασα παράλληλα με το Quantic ήταν πολύ πολύ σφιχτό, ενώ το large στο Quantic ταίριαξε γάντι στο κεφάλι μου.

Καλησπέρα, χαίρομαι που το βιντεάκι σας φάνηκε χρήσιμο! Το έξτρα ζελατινάκι δεν κουμπώνει στην υπάρχουσα εργοστασιακή ζελατίνα. Όταν το αγοράζει κανείς αντικαθιστά την εργοστασιακή ζελατίνα του κράνους με το σύστημα νέας ζελατίνα με ζαλατινάκι. Πρόκειται δηλαδή, για "πακέτο" καινούριας ζελατίνας με το ζελατινάκι να βρίσκεται ήδη κουμπωμένο πάνω της.

Μετά από πολλα χρόνια με arai πηγα στην shoei και πιστεύω ότι από τεχνολογία και βάρος είναι πιο καλή το λέω που έχω φορέσει πολλα arai τόσα χρόνια αλλά έχουν κολησει στον παρελθον πολλές ζημιές στα καπάκια και βαρος

Πολύ σημαντικό να διαβάζουμε ένα σχόλιο από έναν άνθρωπο σαν και σένα που έχει μεγάλη εμπειρία στα Arai και που τελικά καταλήγει ότι η Shoei είναι καλύτερη. Τα κράνη της Arai φέρουν το βαρύ όνομα του επιτυχημένου παρελθόντος της εταιρείας αλλά τελικά είναι χαμηλότερα των προσδοκιών. Θα περίμενε κανείς να είναι σε όλα άψογα με διαφορά από τον ανταγωνισμό.
