If you’re seeing this in 2021 I wrote a book! It’s called, Finding Joy in Loneliness - Experiencing True Joy in the Midst of Difficult Seasons. If you are about to go through military life or you already are, I would encourage you to read it! It’s faith based, but I truly believe anyone can get something out of it! Love you guys! ❤️ amzn.to/35qYr6Q

1. Its gonnna be hard because you won't be able to have a lot of time together 2. Can't always text or call them all the time 3. You feel lonely a lot( need self-assurance/ confidence) 4. They are dedicated partners 5. They get stressed a lot you need to encourage them

I don’t like the statement “As a Christian I don’t feel lonely, because the lord is always with me.” Because I am too a Christian and do believe the lord is always with us. But feeling lonely has nothing to do with religion, and I feel lonely all the time, and no it’s not “A faith test” it’s human nature. Everyone feels lonely, because emotion is human nature. But as for this video, it was good.

Wappy Laughy Thanks for your comment! I 100% agree! This was 20 year old Brittani who was young and naive haha. In my newer videos I address my struggle with loneliness and how God has used that to deepen my relationship with Him. Also how we were created for relationship with the Father and so loneliness is a natural occurrence to our separation from Him. Thanks for pointing this out though. Wish I would have spoken this differently, but had no idea this video would be seen by so many people haha.

I could agree. I dont feel lonely because the Lord fulfills it. But I do miss him. But don't feel lonely. God has told me before, "You shouldn't feel lonely, I'm always with you." But of course we should or could miss them. ♡♡♡ But I love it. It is always blissful to see him. Known him for 11 years. Dated for 2 years. He just left back to the Fort today. 😍 I believe God can help with loneliness if we ask. Why wouldn't God give us that? He is the God of the impossible! But I still understand what you mean. Depends on the person I guess?

Before I started dating a marine, I really had to ask myself if dating a military man would be for me. I finally decided, I could. I definitely can wait for him because I know it would be so worth it. As for anyone who literally just wants to date someone just cause their in a military please do not do that. It’s not a fairytale. It truly is hard when along the way you gotta learn that there will be times you won’t be able to talk to them every single day. I’ve also learned how much commitment, communication, and trust that’s needed. If you have God centered in your relationship you guys will truly last. ❤️ God is love and love is eternal.

Hii! I randomly decided to look up "dating someone in the marines" and when I clicked on your video I could almost immediately tell you were a Christian :) I got so much out of this video and I just want to thank you because it explains a lot! I have a friend that I like who is in the marine corps and everything you said is 100% accurate. I try to encourage him in the Lord, pray for and with him and talk to him when I can but I am a lonely person, I wish I could talk to him all the time but this video taught me that I have to find peace in the loneliness, and maybe I need to talk to God more :) He is a great friend, and even if we don't end up more than friends I will still support him and love him no matter what, because when God puts people on your life he puts them in there for a reason :)

As a Army retiree and been married for 37 years a military relationship can work. My wife faced most of what you said. However I also told her that there will be times that I will be gone extended length of time. Not because I want to but it is duty. Also told her that I could deploy and come back really injured or in a box. On my deployments she wore out some carpet praying. Thank you for your service. Yours may be harder than his.

I’ve been dating my military guy for about 4 months and even though it’s not traditional like civilian men, I can tell you, he is probably the greatest man I’ve ever met. Sweet, attentive, honest, mature, driven, a gentleman, and he has shown me that he makes it a point for us to have open and thorough communication. And he does all of that as I see him on the weekends. He’s currently on a sub for a week and this is my first time not being able to talk to him everyday like I’m used to but it’s not as bad as I thought. I’m a nursing student so I currently have enough to keep me busy but I can’t wait till he comes back so we can go out again, I really enjoy my time with him. If he asked me to be his lady/gf, I wouldn’t even hesitate

I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with my feelings lately. I’m engaged to a military man who I love so much. I’ve never done long distance before, so already that was something I didn’t know how to do and something I was inexperienced in. It’s been so so hard. The hardest battle of my life. If I didn’t see a future with him I would have raised my flag and left. But I haven’t and I don’t plan on it. I want to be with him and I see a future with him. A lot of things hit home while watching this video because I’ve felt and dealt with every single thing mentioned. Right now he’s out on the field and I have no way of communicating or hearing from him and vice versa. I miss him. He has another week out there. This is preparation for when he’s deployed in about a month or even less. I’m scared that I won’t get to see him before they send him off to the Middle East. I can’t stand when he talks about his will and whose names are on it. The thought of something happening to him while he’s out there brings tears to my eyes and I start crying. It’s the hardest subject for me to talk about or even hear about. I just want him home and within arms reach. I’m trying to remain strong. But it’s not easy. I’m just glad I’m not the only one who has gone through this and all the feelings it comes with. Knowing I’m not alone makes me feel less lonely. 🥺

Brit+Con : WOW your video and the way you said on it are really amazed me!!! Especially when you said: I never feel alone because I’m Christian and I have God! This is the point that I was waiting for from your words! Yes! I totally agree with you! We have the big God that accompanies us 24 hours! Even comfort us and keep us safe and feel loved! To be Christian must be very loyal to our spouse and God! I’m proud to be Christian as well! I’m married a navy guy! I was in that situation as well even worst. I was in my country before he took me here. You can’t tell how difficult it is on having the long distance relitionship, with the different countries and time zones! But thankfully I have a Great great God that made everything work for both of us! God is really Good!!! Keep praying and believing in God. May God bless your marriage girl 👍

I don’t know how people do it. I really don’t. I get really attached to people easily. I just had to leave a purely genuine girl for this reason because I knew I couldn’t handle a situation like this. And trust me when I say I feel like a complete asshole thinking about it. But I’m hoping one day she can understand that me being at home and constantly having to think about the love of my life being gone for months on end. All military couples I wish you guys the best. And I wish nothing but wonderful futures for you guys. Way to hold it down for one another :)

I dated the most amazing man for a month in person and then he deployed. currently he’s been deployed for 3 weeks. His job is super stressful as he works with explosives. I know a month is not a lot of time but from day one This man made me feel seen in a way no one else has but recently his work has had him busy and I’ve been hearing from him less. I know he’s not ignoring me but I can’t help feeling so neglected. I am trying to make a decision if I can handle this or not. I don’t want to hurt his feeling (part of me feels like he would understand). I also feel like I can’t come to him every time I feel like throwing in the towel otherwise he will make the decision for me. I guess I’m just here because I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it. 😢 this sucks. *edit* i wrote the post above in the morning. It’s the end of the day now and I decided he is absolutely worth it. 🥰

I just hope my friends didn't marry those guys just for the benefits. This is a great video. You give great advice. I'm not dating anyone in the military (or anyone in general, lol), but I still think you give very good advice. Your advice would have helped my friend out a lot. You're awesome! We had been talking for a couple months now, and he had finally decided to ask me out but I was scared to lose him after he would get deployed. He said that wouldn’t happen, but just about a week ago, he decided to stop talking to me and he said he needed to focus on the marines and that I was a distraction for him. It really broke my heart. You can be alone and not lonely because loneliness is a state of mind, it doesn't matter how many people you have around you. I think feeling lonely is more or less an inside job. We need learn to be fine with our own company. We can be our own best friend, but also our worst enemy.

Omg, I am so glad I found this video. This put me at ease about my situation. I met a soldier memorial day weekend while I was out with my friends. Our first encounter he told me I would be in his girlfriend within 2 months lol. Everything just started from there, but after that first initial week he went back to his base and everything you said has been happening. Not being able to talk or text is a big one. We have only gotten to hang out one good time since. Fortunately, he isn't stationed too far from me but every time we have planned to get together work comes up for him or me. This last time I really felt bad about the whole thing. I thought maybe he's not that into me like he says but you explained everything to the tee of what's going on. We really haven't gotten to talk about everything yet which is why I was probably feeling clueless as to what was going on. I feel a lot better knowing that I'm not crazy and this stuff is common when dating a military man. Now I understand a lot better. Thanks!

Exactly. I just learnt alot from the videos. When mine went on exercise only after meeting weeks before and telling me I was his girl I honestly thought he had ghosted me. And when he said on some exercises mobiles are not allowed until I saw this video I seriously thought he was winding me up. Cos as you know in the regular world when a guy wants to disappear he sometimes quietly reduces communication. I feel really horrible now I thought these things. He should be finished shortly so hopefully will see him as when he managed to get in touch a few days ago he ...said some really nice things to me.

It takes a special kind of woman to be a military gf or wife. I've been around Soldiers for the past 32 years, was a faithful Army wife for 23 years, and went through 8 deployments, very familiar with ptsd and their triggers and what to avoid, their were plenty of nights after deployments when i woke up with a knife on my throat, due to the flashback the ex was having... tbi and all the sacrifices the military lifestyle comes with, had plenty of long distance, weekend and cross country relationships, raising the kids on my own but wouldn't wanna miss it for the world.... I knew the military lifestyle was my thing the very first time I've ever stepped food on base when i was 18. And you also learn that no news are good news.... The military lifestyle isn't for everyone

I really appreciate this video. I married my husband almost 2 years ago and now my husband wants to enlist, and he did not ask me. Whenever I talk to him about how I feel and about our plan as a team he just gets annoyed and acts like I am trying to hold him back. I am not, I am not trying to say that he should not go either. It is just a big decision and when I met him he did not want to be in the military. This is very hard for me to digest, and I really appreciate videos like this from military spouses, because I realize how difficult it is to be a military spouse knowing full well that your husband can be taken away at any moment. I think your advice about dating is spot on. I wish that I had known what I was diving into. I love my husband and he is the only person I could ever love. I am just full of anxiety over the whole thing because my job does not allow me to move frequently. I know people joke about marriage starting and ending quickly in the military, but many of these women knew they were marrying military men. In my position I did not know. This whole situation took me by surprise, and if anyone has any advice with how to deal with the loneliness I am all ears.

Being told by your spouse that you can "get a dog" and that should be enough to replace a husband's presence is demeaning and disconcerting in my opinion. But these things vary from couple to couple and based on situations.
@BritCon2

Maria Buenano Hi Mariah! It sounds like your husband isn’t validating your emotions and being really selfish in my opinion. Marriage is an equal partnership where communication is key! ESPECIALLY in the military. If he can’t properly communicate with you or acknowledge your feelings then that is an issue. However, sometimes as women our emotions can come off as an attack and they can get defensive and put up a selfish wall. I would approach him first by affirming his decision, because this is something he wants to do, but then saying, however, I need you to understand my feelings. I don’t want this to seem like I’m upset, i don’t want to argue, I just want you to hear me. And maybe ask... can you do that? Then state your feelings. Take into consideration that when you state your feelings, it’s not to change his mind over the military, if you come from that point, he may get mad. Just state your fears, anxieties, personal struggles that you want him to help you in. Overall though, he needs to start learning how to listen and communicate with you.

Hi, I just want to Thankyou so much for this video. It really has been an encouragement to me. My boyfriend is going to be leaving for BT soon. we met working at a Christian Camp together. We are both Christians and we are both very committed to our relationship. I was feeling so nervous about the loneliness factor but I wanted to Thankyou for putting the reminder in your video that as Christians we have Christ and we don’t have to feel lonely. I’m so proud of my boyfriend for the decision he made in joining the Air Force and I know that God is gonna use this time apart to strengthen us individually and as a couple. I’ve been watching so many videos about what it’s like when he leaves and all that, but your videos are the best I’ve seen and the most encouraging and I appreciate that so much!!! Thankyou again!!

There is a reason why so many military marriages end in divorce. When you are young your love can get you through the deployments while he is away. When you get older you will realize that you are alone. Most military marriages are lonely marriages and that is why so many of them end in divorce.

It takes a special specific mentality and maturity to date someone in the military. Someone that can handle keeping themselves company, busy and take care of the house/place on they're own, while their spouse is gone away periods on end. (Basically you run the show) And same is applied to the spouse in the military. Usually your successful military spouses have likely served in military or were raised in a military family setting. I'll be honest. Those who fell to being "Jody'd", emotionally/intimately starving or just dying to "run away" cause they aren't "free" are either really young, or are really dumb and naive to think things threw realistically. If you've met someone in the military that you like. REALLY think things threw and trust your gut. What may seem like all heavenly and great in the first month, may turn out to be hell few months later. And I can say the same to men and women in the forces. Make sure you think things threw yourself and don't be bargaining with "benefits" to lead them in.

I havent talked about MY story to anyone, because i feel pathetic talking about it and no one understands...but the comments here are making me feel better, so here's my story. I met my best friend four years ago, online. ( i was 14, and he was 16) and... We were close, and wanted to be together... But we were far apart. So... We didn't. I didnt Think id ever have a chance with him, so i found other relationships to be in and all was fine right? Well.... Not exactly. There was something about this guy i loved, even at fourteen years old and i never fully moved on. We of course still talked, and he made a huge impact on my life. He helped my self harm... And how i saw myself. But Yanno, hes far away living life...i assumed he didnt love me like i always did. Why would he? A caring, smart... Just perfect guy with so much life and love to give... Could find someone for him. But at the same time... Why stay around, if he didnt think we ever had a shot at anything? Like...even friends. I would assume friends would want to eventually meet. Anyway... about 2 years ago, during one of our many conversations he said "hey... I should just warn you... Im going into the Marines soon. " and, that scared me. I was selfish in thinking like "oh my god...now theres no chance of me seeing him, or having him to talk to!" But, i couldnt stop him from doing what he wanted to, and i didnt want to. I loved him, and wanted him to do what he wanted, and if the marines is that.... Then so be it. I wont stop loving him, and supporting him because its scary for me. And besides, i had been in a different relationship. I should focus on that. It had to be scary for him even...but i didnt think of that. Our talking got shorter, the everyday talks weren't a thing anymore, and when we did talk it just wasnt the same...and i had MY life to live too. Until about two months ago. That's when everything changed. He was back "home" for a little bit... And was at a hotel. He got... super drunk and told me how he really felt about me. How he loved me, but didnt think we could be together but didnt want to let me go fully...so he kept me around. He knew i felt how i did too, but couldnt be with me. Selfishly i was furious. I felt led on, and lied to...until the next days, and weeks. Over the next few weeks, he told me how he felt towards me, and how hard not talking to me was.... Which i didnt understand because i thought for song long things were different. That i loved someone who didnt feel the same. He had told me we did have a chance now, because his contract is nearly over... So we could meet, and try something. My heart felt so comfortable with him,and... I was excited. Something i didnt realise i wanted, will finally happen! We continued to talk, and we seemed to be in a relationship already so I asked him " why not be official now?" And he told me, Becuase he was going to he leaving again 2 other times. One in October, and getting deployed in December. And he didnt want to cause me any pain, because he was gone. Which, i mean I understood.... But didnt agree with. Still don't, but i respect his mindset. Well... If you know time, you know it is October now, so... Hes gone again. (Only for 4 more days!!!) And as you can imagine... Getting So close to having something that makes you happy just leave with no way of talking to them is very, very hard. And i won't lie, I was very depressed and just slept my days away hoping time would speed up. I would read or conversations over and over again, regretting things i said.... Because i dont want him thinking he did anything to hurt me. Now. I can say i am finally out of my dark depression and doing things. And i can happily say, i will hear from my best friend in about a week! Friends, this can be hard. Not having someone you care for, but things always end. There will be a time you can hold their hand again, hug them... Tell them you love them. Everything eventually comes to an end, and if any of you need a friend to talk to i am here. Because i understand it is very hard. And i would have loved a friend when i needed it. Anyway , i hope my story kind of helps, so you dont feel alone. You are loved, and beautiful!!

Hi I just started dating a military guy thanks for making this video I wasn’t really sure what to expect all I know I’m whiling to wait for him until we see each other sometimes I don’t know anything about him but when he text me it’s like 5 times straight with messages sometimes I missed them because I’ll be at work and I never know when he will text me even though I’m always waiting for he’s text 24/7 so I replied when I see them this situation is so hard but I know he’s a dedicated, intelligent and loving man and I know what he’s doing for this country and for me it’s hard for both of us but he takes care of me something that some of my ex’s never did so I think it will be worth waiting on him because he’s a man that keeps he’s promises and a man that keeps its promises it’s a real man thanks again I won’t give up on him he tells me baby don’t give up on us

Just a males perspective. What also helps is the wife or spouse being self sufficient. It's something that never mattered until I joined and became so self sufficient myself and used to that mindset with everyone I worked with. It's also important come deployment time too. It's easy to focus on the task at hand down range if everything is good to go at home and knowing it's being handled. Good video!

I actually always avoid dating military men because didn’t want the misery of no knowing if my husband would one day not come home that huge fear made me not pursue many guys specially cuz I live between I used to live near an Air Force base. Little did I know that the guy I dated for 4 years would end up wanting to join the Air Force. We got married and now I have to go through what I avoided cuz it’s too late I’m already too in love with him to ever leave him.

Hi Sophie, I completely understand what you're going through. I would always compare myself to other women my boyfriend knew and I would criticize myself for not being as nice as them or as confident as them, etc. It really took a toll on my mental health and there would even be times where I would be withdrawn from our relationship because I thought he would be happier with someone else. I eventually broke down and told my boyfriend everything and we talked about it. And ever since we had that conversation, I have absolutely no doubts in his commitment to me and I trust him wholeheartedly. What I'm getting at is, if this is a continuing concern for you, don't hold it in like I did. You'll only end up ruining your mental health and your relationship slowly. Talk with him. Voice your concerns. If he is genuinely committed to you then he will make sure that you understand that he is committed to you and only you. Its natural for self doubt to arise but if it ever gets to a magnitude such as this, talk about it. Even if it's the same concern. It may take some time. It is hard. But the ending result is so, so worth it. I wish you luck!

I dated a Marine for a couple of weeks, he asked me to his girlfriend and after a month of dating he left for deployment. I was so committed to the relationship. At the beginning we were doing great and then suddenly he became distant. He asked for a break, after that we haven’t talked. He said he would keep in touch. I know that God has called me to service, and I want to better myself while also providing a more financially stable future for me and my significant other (whoever that may be). I know a military relationship is extremely difficult, but it is reassuring to know that there are faithful and loyal women out there.. God Bless.

this was absolutely amazing. before he was my boyfriend and in the Marine Corps, we had been best friends for 5 years and never told each other how we felt until recently. he's been stationed in Washington for a year now, and it has been very hard to find peace knowing that i can't talk to him everyday or see him, but this video helped me so much! THANK YOU!

I love your points. They are very helpful to me although I am not married. I'm 19, and my boyfriend is in the military and sometimes it's really hard for me. He just got on his first deployment and I already feel the stress coming on because he has to be away for 9 months and he has to cope with being alone..... He's already getting frustrated, but I am trying all I can to be a solution to his problem instead of the cause. And that is why I am watching this video because I love my boyfriend and I can't always know what he's doing but I am committed to him and I am willing to walk with him through this till we meet again.

I am not in the army or the marines but I am dating a first class military girl who is living in Canada. She is a very kind and sweet I met her on a christian dating app and we got along quite well and we have only been chatting on Skype for just two months now and both of us are getting along quite well. She is planning on retiring this year and hopefully to settled down in Texas with me and get married raising a family together

This all is quite true...I’ve never dated anyone in the military until now and it’s really interesting...it’s not so bad. You definitely have to be understanding for sure and have your own life in between I’m learning

my ex gf was a Combat veteran in the Marines ....she survived an I.E.D blast in a vehicle. she was awesome as a loving woman but tried to play both military and just 2 civilians relationship and I broke up with her. she is still my friend and will say that she is still an amazingly beautiful and brave woman inside and out. it's worth it

Luckily I dated my husband for almost 2 years before he decided to join the military and then we got married after he got back from bmt and tech school and then we moved out to Colorado! I totally agree with you I’ve seen so many people get married just for the money or just because they want to get out of the dorms and then some get divorced shortly down the road!

I just started dating someone in the service, and this really helped…because the stigma is definitely out there about military men. But I just want to date him, and for you to say that clarifies the approach of how I pursue this. And he just left for deployment, I’m so glad I found your channel.

The constant texting was so real , he was on break and we were chatting so much then all of a sudden it stopped , but I definitely understand he has a job that is his priority

Yes, that makes potential dating hard. I’m the one in the military and have a hard time connecting and messaging any guy since there are times I’m cut off from my phone.

Recently started dating someone I've known for a LONG time but he is in the military but I'm getting used to not being able to talk to him all day everyday but it really is an adjustment. Honestly he is so worth it though 🥰🖤 I care about him so much and I'm working through any lonely feelings

My boyfriend has decided to go into the Navy, he’s leaving for camp after May. Ive talked to him almost every single day and I know it’s going to be hard when he leaves. I just want him to be happy. I’ll survive. If he’s happy, I’m happy.

I'm in the Navy I started bootcamp in November and graduated in January. The 1st two to three weeks will be the toughest because he won't be able to make phone calls. But then after that every other Saturday he will be able to make phone calls for one hour. After he graduates you both can speak all the time then because he'll have his cell phone back.

I'm really glad I found your video. My boyfriend just left to boot camp, and your video really helped me understand/ answer few of my questions . Also I SOO agree with about the friend topic. I had no one to talk to, I didn't know who I was able to relate too or even talk to and know I wouldn't annoy with my sadness.

Thanks for the video. I recently graduated from the Naval Academy. I am now a 2nd lieutenant in the Marines. I went to my five year reunion, sounds silly everyone pretty much just got out of college. I spent most of the time hanging out with the girl I dated. We both agreed that we should stop dating because we were going to be in schools across the country. I'm stationed in San Diego. She has family there. She actually asked me to get married. It through me for a loop. I told her that being married to someone in the military is tough especially to a marine. I have been deployed once for six months. She still is excited to be my wife. Her brother is a Private in the Army. She tells me to give him a hard time because I'm an officer. He actually tells me if I hurt her his entire platoon will make me disappear. I take orders from him. We both have watched your video. Please keep them coming

USNA? Awesome!! Just one question, if you don't mind. What is the obligation that military academy graduates have once they graduate and are commissioned? Is it still five (5) years?

I can relate to what you are talking about. I'm talking to a military man, he is an officer. I noticed that he texts me in the morning and we get to talk through out the day sometime. Other days, it is one good morning and not hear from him until late at night. I really like him so far tho and he is super committed, like you said, and loyal which I love that quality. I will definitely keep in mind to take things slow and not rush getting to know each other.
